5th SEMESTER
JOURNAL OF SUCCESS

“An interpersonal communication course is probably one of

the most important classes that a student can take,” I was
introduced with the subject (INTERPERSONAL
COMMUNICATION) in 5 modules –

1) AN INTRODUCTION TO INTERPERSONAL
COMMUNICATION –

What I understood with this module is Interpersonal

communication helps to improves your personal and
professional relationships by helping you to express your
thoughts and convey your intent clearly. Interpersonal skills are
what help you manage emotions and cope with challenges you
may face at different times in your life. Similar to emotional
intelligence, intrapersonal skills include: Self-confidence.
Thereafter, I was introduced to two of the main concepts of
Interpersonal communication, namely, Rapport Building and
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) which immensely helped
in navigating conversations in groups and helped me in team
building.

2) BEHAVIOURAL COMMUNICATION –
In this module, I learned about the behavior of person who
communicates. This is very helpful as It gives human beings a
means of action on all aspects, provides the processes of
transmission of traditions and rituals, favors for the community
and for itself the conservation of behaviors full of experiences.

3) INTERPERSONAL STYLE

In this module, I understand about the interpersonal style. I

learned that Each person has habits that are unique to his or
her way of perceiving the world and of interacting with it.
These habits, or patterns, generally fall into categories that are
known as “interpersonal style.”

4) CONFLICT MANAGEMENT –

We all face conflicts in our day to day life. This module helped
me to understand those conflicts and how to deal with it. This is
only the way that you handle disagreements. On any given day,
you may have to deal with a dispute between you and another
individual, your family members, or fellow employees.
5) NEGOTIATION SKILLS -

The last module of this subject was negotiation skills which is

my favorite topic. We somehow negotiate in our life for our
benefits. Negotiation is a dialogue between two parties to
resolve conflicts or issues so that both parties find the solution
acceptable. Usually, it is a compromise involving give and take.
Negotiation results when each party compromises to resolve a
conflict for everyone’s benefits. In the workplace, negotiations
may take place between managers, departments, colleagues or
between a team member and a manager. Even before you join
the workplace, you may negotiate the job offer with the
interviewer or HR manager.
