Episode One: Mental Health.

Madden Nobauer

M Introduction: Welcome everyone to the first episode of T&M’s Lets’ Talk. I am your co-host of this
show Madden Nobauer. Trenton: And I am your other co-host, Trenton Huber. On today’s episode we
will be diving deep into mental health and how it affects us every day.

 How you doing today, Trent?

 How would you rate your mental health from one to ten.
 What makes your mental health stronger/weaker?

Section 1: Defining Mental Health.

M To begin with today’s episode, let’s define mental health. Mental health isn’t just the presence of
being mentally or neurologically sick, it’s also the state in which we live along our stresses and how we
are able to cope with it whilst still remaining active in the community and working productively.

Statistic:

T Did you know that approx.. 970M recorded people worldwide (Close to an 8th of the worlds
population) suffer from a mental health or substance abuse disorder.

 Do you know anyone that suffers with severe mental health problems

Section 2: Stigma surrounding mental Health.

T Ways in which we can break the stigma surrounding mental health. With the recentcy of social media
talking openly about the state of our mental health, not only does it make us feel like we have
somewhere to go to, but also others who may be suffering feel as if they have a place to go to as well.
Social media is also a great place to get educated about misperceptions on mental health. Another way
we can help break the stigma surrounding mental health is to learn to accept mental conditions, and
advocate for them, learn to live with it, and speak out to the rest of the community.

 How can we break stigma? Surrounding mental health.

Section 3: Navigating Through the Challenges of mental health.

M We have all faced mental health challenges at one point in our lives, whether it be stress, anxiety or a
more severe condition. Our coping strategies vary from human to human, but we can’t allow ourselves
to be consumed by our mental health. I for example (Madden) like to go workout or play lacrosse to
help with my mental health. Trent:

Navigation throughout our mental health is remembering that we are never alone, even with
how alone we may feel we are there is always many people in this world here for us at any given
moment. From my personal experiences I don’t like to rely on other people, so I like to find peace within
myself.

Conclusion:

T Mental health is important to look after as it is what keeps our psyche balanced. To say no one will
ever experience mental health issues is an overstatement as we are all bound to experience detriments
to our mental health. It’s how we deal with these issues and overcome them that is important. Breaking
the stigma surrounding mental health is the most important then we can do as it opens the door of
accepting those who struggle and allowing them to find the help they need rather than feeling as if they
are labeled.

M We would like to thank our listeners for tuning into the first episode of T&M’s let’s talk. Until the
next episode where we dive deep into how the Covid-19 pandemic affected the youth's mental health.
