INTRODUCTION
• literacy is among one of the
indicator of human development.
All girls of today are mothers
tomorrow. The role played by
mothers in building up a nation is
beyond dispute.
• A mother is worth a hundred school
masters.
Quaid-e-Azam said:
‘’Education does not merely means
academic education and even of a
very poor type. What we have to do
is to mobilize our people and build
up a character of our future
generation.’’
Literacy Ratio:
The over all literacy ratio is 58.9% in
Pakistan. Unfortunately, literacy rates
differ depending on gender in
Pakistan. According to recent data,
male literacy stands at 72.5% while
women’s literacy stands at 51.8% –
but there is reason for hope as
women’s literacy has increased by up
to 10% in three years, showing
progress toward narrowing gender
gaps in literacy rates.
Number of Girls Schools in Pakistan
• There are 183,900 public schools
in Pakistan, of which 50,000
cater girls.
• Punjab 18,000
• Sindh 14000

• Balochistan80000
Female education levels
• 7 million girl sunder 10 go to
primary schools.
• 5.4 millions girls between 10-14
attend secondary schools.
• 3 million girls go to higher
secondary(college).
• 0.5 millions girls go to universities.
Reasons behind the lower rate of
women education in Pakistan
• Parent Distinction
• Expensive Education
• Early age Marriages
• Lack of girls schools in remote areas
• Limited career fields for women
• Male dominance in society
Importance of women education
• A well-educated woman provides
the skills, knowledge, and self-
assurance necessary to be a better
mom, worker, and citizen. In such a
case, if the mother is educated, she
brings up her child on the best lines,
so that her child remains healthy and
energetic both physically and
mentally. On the contrary, if the
mother is not educated, the child
cannot be brought up properly.
Suggestions
• Eliminate gender stereotypes in
textbooks, syllabuses, and the
media.
• Protect women and girls from all
forms of abuse, including sexual
harassment in schools and other
educational institutions, and provide
for sanctions against the
perpetrators of such practices.
• Religious icons, scholars shall take a
stand to diminish the negative
thoughts in the society about girls
and girls educations.
