The Ransom of Red Chief
What’s to be done?
This is a two-part activity where you imagine yourself to be the characters of the story.
Firstly, now that you have read the story, ‘The Ransom of Red Chief’, imagine yourself
to be Bill (one of the kidnappers) and write a diary entry expressing your time with
Johnny Dorset.
Secondly, let us assume that Johnny’s father was quite concerned about his son being
missing. Create a Missing Poster that Mr. Dorset may have passed all over the small
village so that he may be able to track down his son..

How to do it?
You need to keep the following in mind while attempting the AIL:

✔ Use A4 or A3 sheets for both the diary entry as well as the missing poster. One side may be used for
the diary entry and the other side for the poster.
✔ All your work must be hand-made. Do not type or print the written piece or illustrations.

✔ Make sure you make a mind map or a flowchart of all that you want to record in your diary entry to
ensure sequential writing takes place. This step can be done in your literature notebook. Remember
to use transition words in your final draft.
✔ Take a look at the sample of a missing poster given in this document and then draft your own.

✔ You may use any medium of colours to make your poster. You may also just use a pencil.
Ultimately, your poster should be neat and presentable with all relevant details mentioned.

All the
Best!
