RESEARCH DESIGN

The primary objective of this research is to investigate the correlation

between targeted reading interventions and improved reading comprehension

levels among criminology freshmen at Emilio Aguinaldo College. Specifically,

the study aims to assess whether the implementation of a personalized

reading plan tailored to individual learning styles yields a more significant

improvement in reading comprehension compared to a one-size-fits-all

approach.

Data Collection Techniques

1. Surveys and Learning Style Assessments: Administer surveys and

learning style assessments to understand the diverse learning preferences of

criminology freshmen.

2. Reading Comprehension Tests: Conduct pre- and post-intervention

reading comprehension tests to measure the impact of personalized reading

plans on students' comprehension levels.

3. Observations: Observe and record students' reading habits,

frequency, and variety of reading materials to correlate with comprehension

improvements.

4. Feedback and Assessment Records: Gather continuous assessment

data, including feedback on reading assignments, to analyze its contribution

to sustained improvement.
Data Analysis Methods

1. Correlational Analysis: Employ statistical techniques to assess the

correlation between targeted reading interventions and reading

comprehension levels.

2. Comparative Analysis: Compare the improvement in reading

comprehension between the personalized approach group and the one-size-

fits-all group.

3. Content Analysis: Analyze qualitative data from observations and

feedback to gain insights into students' intrinsic motivation and attitudes

towards reading.

Procedures

1. Randomized Control Trial (RCT): Implement an RCT to assign

participants randomly to either the personalized reading plan group or the

traditional approach group.

2. Longitudinal Data Collection: Collect data over the academic term to

track changes in comprehension levels and assess the sustained impact of

continuous assessments.

3. Qualitative Interviews: Conduct qualitative interviews with a subset of

participants to gather in-depth insights into their intrinsic motivation and

attitudes towards the reading materials.

This comprehensive research design ensures a systematic and rigorous

investigation, employing both quantitative and qualitative methods to provide

a holistic understanding of the correlation between targeted reading

interventions and improved reading comprehension levels among criminology

freshmen at Emilio Aguinaldo College.
