WILDWOOD CREST, N.J., OCT. 18, 2023 — Reges Oceanfront Resort proudly announces
the implementation of a smoke-free policy on all its beaches. The ban is in an attempt to foster
healthy habits and a family-friendly environment without the usage of smoking products on
Reges’ beaches, effective October 1, 2023.
The decision to adopt this voluntary smoking ban is in response to the recent veto by Governor
Chris Christie of the proposed ban on smoking in public parks and beaches across the state of
New Jersey. Understanding the importance of promoting public health, environmental
sustainability, and guest satisfaction, the Reges Oceanfront Resort has taken this step to enhance
the well-being of its residents and the overall community.
"At Reges Oceanfront Resort, we have always put the comfort and happiness of our guests first,"
Anthony Mollica, President, and General Manager of Reges Oceanfront Resort said in response
to the veto. "By striving to make our beaches smoke-free, we are creating a healthier and more
enjoyable environment for families of our cherished visitors."
Reges Oceanfront Resort aims to both keep recurring customers, and attract new families,
offering them a safe and wholesome environment. A smoke-free beach ensures that children and
adults alike can relax in the natural beauty of Wildwood Crest beaches without exposure to
harmful secondhand smoke. Because recent studies have consistently unveiled the harmful
effects of secondhand smoke, Reges Oceanfront Resort's smoke-free policy is a testament to our
dedication to both the health and well-being of our guests as well as the community.
Reges Oceanfront Resort acknowledges the concerns raised by some organizations regarding
personal freedoms and lifestyle choices. However, scientific evidence from reputable sources,
such as the California Air Resources Board and Stanford University researchers, supports the
need for outdoor smoking bans. Studies have indicated that even outdoor exposure to
secondhand smoke can have significant health consequences, making smoke-free beaches a vital
measure to safeguard public health.
Moreover, the successful implementation of smoke-free policies in nearby cities like New York
City demonstrates the feasibility and positive impact of such initiatives. The Reges Oceanfront
Resort firmly believes that this voluntary smoking ban will enhance the overall guest experience
and contribute to the well-being of our community.
