Synopsis On Desktop Mailing System

Introduction:
The proposed project is a personal information manager, available as a dedicated mailing application. Although often used mainly as an e-mail application, it also includes a calendar, task manager, contact manager and note taking. It can be used as a stand-alone application, having shared mailboxes and calendars, Exchange public folders and set meeting schedules.

Purpose:
The main purpose of the Desktop Mailing System is to provide basic Mailing Solutions such as Send Mail, View Mail, Forward Mail etc. It also provides facility to store mails on a local hard disk that can be viewed anytime later. It has a simple Graphical User Interface which makes it user friendly.

Features:
Features included: To-Do bar added to the shell UI that shows a snapshot of the user's upcoming appointments and active tasks for better time and project management, and provides navigation entry points into calendar (e.g. selecting calendar dates in Date Navigator, clicking on day/date names in appointments area) Calendar views that display the tasks due below each day on the week view and supports overlaying multiple calendars Send your calendar information with calendar snapshots, which creates an HTML representation of your calendar so you can share this information with anyone Forward Outlook e-mail messages, contacts, appointments, and tasks as text messages. 'Instant Search' through a context indexer based search. Preview Handler extension for previewing email attachment (including reading pane) without leaving the application. Ability to add a picture or company logo to a contact or electronic business card Instant Messenger that provides a whole new chatting experience.

Scope:
This application can be used by end users on any computer having a Windows operating System.

Software Required: IDE: Eclipse Programming Language: Java (Simple Lightweight Swing Components, Use of Java Mail API) Backend: SQL Hardware Required: Pentium 4 processor Windows XP, Windows 7 Ram-512 Mb

Conclusion:
Altogether, the Desktop Mailing System provides basic Mailing Solutions such as Send Mail, View Mail, Forward Mail etc. in a simple Graphical User Interface. Future Enhancement: The application currently works for a Gmail account, but it can be enhanced to work with more of their sort.
