An overview of education

• Changes and developments in the field of

education have a great impact on societies.
• In every period of history, states have given
importance to education to implement
various innovations..
• All societies have produced ideas on how to
raise qualified individuals.
Warm up
Industrial revolution
• The Industrial Revolution, was a period of global
transition of human economy towards more
efficient and stable manufacturing processes that
succeeded the Agricultural Revolution, starting
from Great Britain, continental Europe, and the
United States, that occurred during the period
from around 1760 to about 1820–1840.This
transition included going from hand production
methods to machines; new chemical
manufacturing and iron production processes; the
increasing use of water power and steam power;
the development of machine tools; and the rise of
the mechanized factory system.
An overview of education

• Concepts are of great importance in the education

process.
• The meanings attributed to concepts can have an
impact on individuals' behaviors.
• Concepts reduce complexity, make communication
difficult, and lead to the emergence of certain
principles.
• For example, student- or teacher-centered education
is a concept. It is necessary to ponder this concept.
Bloom's Taxonomy

• There are six levels of cognitive

learning according to the revised
version of Bloom's Taxonomy. Each
level is conceptually different. The
six levels are remembering,
understanding, applying, analyzing,
evaluating, and creating
What is education ?
• Education is the transmission of knowledge, skills, and character traits.
There are many debates about its precise definition, for example, about
which aims it tries to achieve.
• A further issue is whether part of the meaning of education is that the
change in the student is an improvement. Some researchers stress the role
of critical thinking to distinguish education from indoctrination. These
disagreements affect how to identify, measure, and improve forms of
education. The term can also refer to the mental states and qualities of
educated people. Additionally, it can mean the academic field studying
education.
Education

• There are many types of education. Formal

education happens in a complex institutional
framework, like public schools.
• Other classifications focus on the teaching
method, like teacher-centered and student-
centered education. Forms of education can
also be distinguished by subject, like science
education, language education, and physical
education.
Formal Education

Formal education is education provided purposefully within

the framework of a planned, pre-prepared program.
Formal education:

It is purposeful
It is programmed
It is planned
We can show the education provided in schools as an example
of formal education.
Informal Educaiton

• It is a process that occurs spontaneously within the

unplanned life process.
• For example, things that students learn outside of class
can be cited as examples of informal education.
• Informal learning examples: This kind of learning can
take many forms. Some common ones include
educational videos and articles, self-study, social media
interaction, on-the-job mentoring, or even team
activities and games. Informal education is generally
self-directed

Let’s think…

“Most students study at universities in

branches that they are not interested
in or have never even considered. No
good can come from such a system. “
