How Has Istanbul grown?

Picture of Istanbul one side showing Europe and the other showing
Asia. Cultural diversity, crowded cities.
Istanbul has been ranked among the largest cities in the world,
however, most of its growth has been in the last 60 years.
Most of Istanbul's growth has been due to national migration (such
as rural urban migration). Migrants come to the city looking for more
employment opportunities and better living conditions.
Many migrants find work in the informal sector. This is the part of an
economy that is neither taxed, nor monitored by any form of
government and workers get paid ‘cash in hand’. These jobs are
normally low paid jobs such as street vendors, porters or waste
recyclers.
Istanbul is home to most of Turkey’s ethnic minorities including 3
million Kurds. There are also smaller Armenian, Greek and Jewish
communities.
There is not much international migration to Turkey, however, it is
one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations.
1. Istanbul grew the quickest in the year 1985 by 77%.
2. 22.7%
3. 19 and 9%
4. 69%
5. 13,394,000
