Taylor Swift| The Eras Tour Poster Analysis

The Eras Tour is a concert poster that has ten pictures of Taylor Swift in ten different

album eras throughout her life. Each picture has a different pose and a muted respective color

that matches the album from that time in her life that overlays the picture. In the middle of the

poster is her most recent album era, Midnights, which has a muted midnight blue on top of the

picture. The Midnights picture is not in a square but is just a picture of her standing in front of all

the other eras. It is the biggest picture of Taylor Swift, which is surrounded by all her old

pictures in a vertical rectangle, that are all the same square size. At the bottom of the poster, the

text reads “Taylor Swift| The Eras Tour.” Taylor Swift first published this poster on her

Instagram on November 1, 2022, sharing it with the entire world to promote her upcoming

stadium world tour. This concert poster created by Taylor Swift, was made to attract her die-hard

fans called “Swifties,” and to promote the concert to people who may not be intense fans of

Taylor Swift but love her old music. The poster is promoting the tour to her fans by the title of

the poster, using pictures from every era and color coordinating each picture, and using her most

recent era in the center of the poster.

First of all, the title of the poster, “Taylor Swift| The Eras Tour,” was made to draw

attention to her intense listeners, who listen to every album she’s made, and to casual listeners

who only know certain songs. Taylor has ten albums, four of which never got their own tour due

to covid. So, when Taylor was deciding what to do for all the albums that never got a tour, she

got an idea of performing all her albums in one night for an almost four-hour show, called the

Eras Tour. She calls each album an era because every album marks a certain point in her life and

displays separate phases of her life.

Second of all, Taylor is promoting her concert to her die-hard fans and irregular listeners

by using color coordinated pictures of herself from every single one of her album eras. Taylor

has ten albums that she labels as eras which have spanned throughout her life. She placed the

pictures of herself on the poster in chronological order which shows her evolution throughout her

albums. Taylor’s intense fandom loves every single one of her albums, and the die-hard fans

have been with her ever since she was a small country artist. Based on the pictures on the poster,

she is promoting her old country albums, newer pop albums, and even her two alternative/indie

albums. Especially with people who do not normally listen to Taylor, she promotes her country,

indie, and pop music, which will attract people who love her old country music or the people

who like alternative/indie music. The assortment of albums and eras Taylor has makes you

intrigued to see what the concert would be like to experience. The poster also lures the intense

fandom of the “Swifties” by color coordinating the pictures to their respected era. The Swifties

have had a life-long discussion of how each album has their own color, so Taylor decided to

bring that into this poster. When you see the color coordinated to its album in a muted tone over

the album picture, you know which era you are looking at. The color of each album does not

repeat, this brings attention to how different each album is, even though Taylor has many

albums, they are not similar at all. She is promoting the fact that coming to this tour will be a

once in a lifetime experience with so many different albums to sing along to.

Lastly, Taylor is using her most recent record-breaking album’s picture/era as the focal

point of the poster. Taylor decided to make this album or era the focal point of the poster by

making its picture bigger than the rest of the others and its almost as if she is standing in front of

the other eras signifying that all these albums throughout her life have led her to this point in her

life. Taylor’s most recent album, Midnights, is one of a kind. It has broken many records, such as

most streams any artist has ever gotten in a day. Many people have either listened to this album

or have heard about it. The album, Midnights, has not gotten its own tour, so she made it the

focal point to draw her fans to the tour to witness the phenomenon live. So, even if her fans have

been to the previous tours of her other albums, they will be drawn to this specific tour because

not only is it one of a kind to witness all the albums live, but her intense listeners will also want

to come since they have never seen this album live before.

All in all, Taylor is trying to send a message to not only her intense fans who listen to

every single song she has ever put out, but also to anyone who enjoys her old country music or

even her alternative/indie music. Taylor is promoting all of her albums which include the genres

of country, pop, and alternative. She is trying to build her audience and promote her tour by

representing all of these genres on the poster. As a die-hard intense fan there was nothing more

exciting than seeing this poster for the first time and noticing every single era on this poster.

Taylor has grown so much throughout her years as an artist, and this poster represents that. With

the pictures of each different era, the color coordinating with each album, and the promotion of

Midnights, Taylor is drawing so much attention to her tour. With this knowledge, look at the
