PART 1. Develop an MSDS sheet for Jet Fuel .
Complete all applicable sections of the blank MSDS sheet provided on page 4 of this PROJECT.
Some MSDS lines might not have information for Jet Fuel and are therefore Not Applicable (N/A), use N/A in
these lines, do not leave blank lines.
IF YOU LEAVE LINES BLANK, YOU WILL LOSE 1 MARK FOR EVERY LINE LEFT BLANK.
PART 2. Answer the questions below using the MSDS found on pages 5 through 10 and the unrelated hazard
label on page 10 of tis handout.
Question 1.
List the title each of the 16 sections in the correct order as found on the MSDS Jet Fuel data sheets on pages 5
through 10 of this handout and your notes.
1. Identification
09. Physical and chemical properties
2. Hazard Identification
10. Stability and reactivity
3. Composition/information on ingedients
11. Toxicological information
4. First-aid measures
12. Ecological information
Fire-fighting measures Disposal considerations
5. 13.
Accidental release measures Transport information
6. 14.
Handling and storage Regulatory information
7. 15.
Exposure controls/personal protection Other information
8. 16.
Question 2.
State the personal safety protection and/or safety equipment that is required to work with Jet Fuel?
Chemically resistant and anti-static clothing, replaced when necessary, and laundered by professionals.
Measures as stringent as necessary for the task at hand. Specifically, chemical resistant gloves must be worn.
Fire protective clothing and gloves are also to be worn where there is a risk of ignition.
Adequate ventillation is also necessary when working with jet fuel. Use suitable filters if breathing
apparatus is necessary.
Question 3.
Regarding the generic hazard label on page 10 of this PROJECT,
describe each of the 4 sections including position, colour it should be, number values & their significance?
1. The red diamond is at the top of the hazard label and it represents fire hazard. The number value of jet fuel is
3 and it represents a flash point below 73F, with a boiling point exceeding 140F.
2. The blue diamond is at the left of the hazard label and it represents health hazard. The number value is 2
and represents jet fuel as a Hazardous material.

PART 4. Develop a Hazard Label for JET FUEL using the MSDS provided.
Fill in the blank Hazard Label for JET FUEL (provided here) with:
1. The correct values in each box for Jet Fuel from the MSDS sheet provided.
2. Write a description beside each box stating what the value represents and the scale if applicable.
3. Where applicable colour each box with the appropriate colour.

SECTION 1. IDENTIFICATION
Label Elements Flammable liquid and vapor, causes skin irritation, hazardous
Other Hazards Fatal if swallowed & causes drowsiness or diziness
There are no other hazardous ingredients, according to the manufacturer, that are hazardous to health or noteworthy.
Workplace exposure limits, if they exist, are in Section 8.

SECTION 4. FIRST-AID MEASURES
Inhalation Get fresh air. Call for medical attention. In case of drowsiness, headache, irritation to eyes, nose, throat or blurred vision, get fresh air. Keep patient warm and resting.
Skin Contact Wash skin with water for min. 15 minutes, removing contaminating garments. Discard contaminated clothing after soaking in water to minimize fire hazard.
Eye Contact Wash eyes for 15 min. minimum, holding eyelids away from eyeball. Remove any contact lenses and get medical attention.
Ingestion Don't induce vomiting. Do not give unconscious person anything orally. Place unconscious person in recovery position. Can cause lung damage. Get medical attention.
Extinguishing Media
Suitable Water fog, foam, dry chemicals or carbon dioxide.
Extinguishing Media
Unsuitable Water jet should not be used.
Extinguishing Media
Specific Hazards Flammable liquid and vapor. Fire water must be contained and prevented from contaminating waterways, sewers, drains. If heated,
Arising from the container pressure increases and may burst, possibly exploding. Runoff may create fire or explosion hazard. Vapors can form into
explosive mixtures in air. Vapors spread along the ground and towards remote ignition sources. Vapors may accumulate in low
Product areas and travel distances to an ignition source. Liquid will float and could ignite on water's surface.
Special Protective Response personnel must be suitably trained. Scene must be isolated. Move containers away without risk.
Equipment and Spray exposed containers with water to keep cool.
Precautions for Fire-
Fighters
Personal Precautions, Contact emergency personnel. Evacuate and do not act without training. Isolate scene of people and ignition. Do not breathe
Protective Equipment, vapor. Ventilate properly. Put on PPE. Be careful not to slip.
and Emergency
Procedures
Methods for Eliminate ignition. Stop leak. Move containers. Absorb with intert material and dispose properly using spark-proof tools and gear.
Contact disposal agencies. Do this all in conformance of appropriate regulations.

stations and safety showers are near workstation.
Measures
