MESSAGES FROM OUR
PRINCIPALS
It is a privilege and honour to pen a few words in the Arrows
RANJIT
School Magazine 2023.
As I look back at the academic year 2023, I have nothing but
a great sense of satisfaction that it was a journey that was
fulfilling.
We celebrated many successful, joyous, and treasurable
moments in activities organised throughout the year.
LINGAM
Yes, there were challenges like every other organisation. We
pushed through with God as our ‘rudder’ with purpose,
passion, and perseverance. The most amazing part is that
we do it as a family, which is made up of our teachers,
administrative staff, students, and parents.
There was no lack of dynamism, the readiness to adapt and
adopt, new perspectives in the implementation of
curricular and co-curricular activities, and the unceasing
flow of creativity by our dear students. All this made 2023 a
year to reflect and declare thanks to God for His favour
upon Arrows International School.
I am proud to be a part of nurturing young minds not to be
of the world but to be transformed to be of the Word.
Finally, I would like to share this: Success is hardly
instantaneous but surely through true grit perseverance,
and hard work.

CHESS CLUB
Chess is one of the oldest and most
popular board games in the world.
Chess is a highly strategic game
that takes years to master. The
aim of this club is to help
students improve their
memories, be patient, critical,
and make better decisions. These
skills later in life will help the
students function professionally in
a n y w o r k i n g e n v i r o n m e n t w h e n they become adults.
Here at the chess club, all the students are very
welcoming and friendly. Every week, they get to compete
with each other, and some would join chess competitions
to represent their school. Overall, the chess club is
fantastic for students
to participate in at a young age and will
also equip them with useful skills to apply
later in life.
Performing Arts
The Performing Arts Club aims to help ensure
that everyone can showcase their hidden talents
and abilities and is in charge of the performances
you see on Appreciation Night. During club times,
they do productive training and have discussions
relative to appreciation night. Each student has a
different talent, and this club utilizes it to be
something useful and fun for the student and
audience.
DANCE CLUB
Dance club is the perfect club for those who want to
work their bodies and enjoy the uplifting music. It is a
fun club with a fun atmosphere, where everyone
cooperates well and has a great time dancing with
friends.

The book club is an interesting club where we discover extraordinary
books we have never read before and discover what genres we enjoy
reading. The main focus of the club is to encourage people to develop a
habit of reading and set up a library.
Every week, the students would do an icebreaker where they would do
activities to get to know each other, then we would move on to book
discussion about chapters of the book they would read as they got to
know each other. The people in the club are very enthusiastic about
reading and get very motivated doing icebreakers as they do get
interesting.
We also have Ms Cris, a club teacher who is strict but she often

Craft Making
Club
Written by Ashton Woo (11G)
This year the year 11 Enterprise students took on a project: start their
own business.
They started their project preparations a year before, planning what
products to sell, the price of their product their expenses, the opinions
of consumers, finding a supplier, and much more. Furthermore, they
only had three days of sales to reach their goal.
Some stalls sold smoothies, others sold hot dogs and lemonade, and
there was even a stall selling rings, bracelets, and other trinkets. To
keep up with the competition, the Year 11 students had to get creative,
setting up games and challenges to win prizes such as a phone. They
had even given their stalls fun and creative names to attract customers.
As time went on more students crowded the stalls. By the last wave of
students came, some stalls were closing while others took pre-orders
for the next day. Every stall had shut down and the students returned
to their lessons, preparing to repeat the process over the next two
days.
The final day of Entrepreneurship Week fell on Friday, and the school
allowed students to walk and browse the 16 stalls during Extra-
Curricular time. The most popular stalls (by far) had to be either the
accessories or the hot dogs and lemonade stall.
Some stalls decided not to continue selling after the first day, already
reaching their break-even point and satisfied with their profits. Others
had increased their pricing due to shortages of materials and high
demand. Even though the first day started chaotically, the stalls that
stayed open until the final day earned up to RM1,000 in profits split
among the students. Arrows’ first-ever Entrepreneurship Week was
quite a success, and we look forward to seeing what next year’s budding
entrepreneurs will come up with!

YR9-11 CAMP
Day 1
5th April 2023, Wednesday. Today was a busy day - it was
the first day of the annual Arrows Camp, a 3-day-2-night
stay at the beloved MBS (Malaysia Bible Seminary),
complete with new badminton courts. Students gathered in
the hall for a quick briefing and team sorting, followed by a
short session with this year’s camp speaker, Pastor Ankia.
Once the buses arrived, the students hopped on for the 45-
minute ride to MBS.

Aside from that, we had games such as “Bob the Builder” which
required much teamwork and logical thinking, “Catch Me If You
Can” which revolved around agility, and of course, “Water War”
which left everyone soaking wet, as well as the iconic station
games designed by teachers and committee members. While the
winner this year was team Ephraim who worked hard together
for it, every team did incredibly well, led by their responsible
leaders.
The worship mentoring team led by Mr Patrick also did a brilliant job leading the worship songs
during sessions, and who could forget pastor Ankia? Her sessions were life-changing to many,
as so many people felt the touch of God for the first time due to her heartfelt messages.
Countless testimonies were delivered by brave and inspiring students from the prayers, and
streams and waterfalls were pouring down students' eyes during session 3.

CAMP
by next week
station games were our favorite activity
since they provided an opportunity for team
building and point accrual. As some of us
were attending camp for the first time, it
was an incredible experience. The lessons
taught by Ps. Nicholas will always stand out
as the highlight of camp. Because there was
magic, it was great and joyful.
Throughout the sessions, we
felt God's presence very
strongly. Both during and
after the camp, we felt the
impact of God very intensely.
We hope that future camps
will be just as enjoyable as
this year's and are eagerly
anticipating it.

Sports
day
2023
On July 15th 2023, a crowd was gathering in the Panasonic Stadium of Shah Alam. The
reason being Arrows International annual Sports Day event. There were 5 teams,
Philippians, Ephesians, Corinthians, Galatians and Colossians. In the previous year,
Corinthians was added to the secondary school as the fifth team. This year,
Corinthians debuted as the fifth team in the primary side with the expansion of Arrows
Primary. Students have been training hard for this day, with many months of practice
as well as EC sessions skipped.
Prior to the actual day, students had already participated in various different
activities like badminton tournaments, captain ball tournaments, basketball
tournaments, banner designing and jersey designing. Each student wore their house
jerseys proudly. It was wonderful to be able to see the creativity that went into
designing their banners and jerseys.
The event began with the usual opening prayer by Ms Mei Ying, followed by the
national anthem, school song and sports pledge by the house captains. The march
pass followed shortly after. Every house had their own creative and different cheer,
some implemented famous songs into their cheer, and others danced to Kpop songs.
One of the most outstanding cheers of the day was by Galatians, with Mr Jarrett
joining the dance as a way to cheer on his team.
Next on the agenda, it was the track event.
First, it was the primary school, each student
doing their best for their team. The secondary
school’s track event followed closely as the
primary moved inside for the telematch. Each
run brought much anticipation for the audience,
looking closely to see who would win the race.

BASKETBALL
Tournament
The basketball tournament was held from 18th June to the 23rd of June,
with each match lasting around 15 minutes. Each round lasted an
intense 15 minutes, and each year took turns to compete throughout the
morning. One competitor said that butterflies were fluttering in her
stomach, but she was feeling excited nevertheless. This competitor
mentioned that she was also making bets on who would win with a
fellow participant. Although there were many different opinions on
which team would come out as the final champion, everyone showed
their best efforts to win for their team and it was safe to say that
everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. WRITTEN BY HESTER YAP (7Y)

BADMINTON
Tournament
The badminton tournament took place at 222 Sports Centre PJ.
There were 5 categories: male singles, male doubles, female
singles, female doubles, and mixed doubles.
Upon arriving, the students could feel the stuffy air and see
crowds of their teams gathered at their respective areas. Many
students were absent on the day, resulting in multiple matches
being canceled, or in some cases, a walkover.
Many players were upset, but they had to get over it and
advance to the next round. The winners of their respective
categories were announced on Sports Day.

The house with a red roof sat high upon the hill, a little older yet still beautiful, its flower
boxes overflowing with the bright buds of spring. These were tended to carefully by the father,
also a little older and a little wiser. Now, the little baby had grown into a bright, budding young
boy, all smiles and joy. He lit up every room, bringing smiles to all who beheld him. His mother
adored him, his father cherished him, and together they cared for that little house with a red
roof. They tended to the gardens and played around it. And in turn, the house sheltered and
protected them, shielding them from the harsh storms and burning heat. Sometimes, the family
worried, wondering about their future. Times had been hard, but they remained protected within
the walls of their little sanctuary.
The house with a red roof sat high upon the hill, watching as the little boy grew into
adulthood, and his parents faded away. The house mourned them, as did he. Soon, however, the
melancholy was replaced with laughter and mirth once again, as the boy, now a man, had a family
of his own. His daughter was a bright bundle of joy, just as he had been. She too cared for the
house, helping her mother and father to tend to its gardens and fix its little problems. They
painted its walls a brand-new colour, a bright, sunny yellow that seemed to chase all the grey
away. And so, the house watched as yet another family thrived. Every day, the father would go off
to work, and each day he came back more worn and tired. And yet his little daughter never failed
to bring that smile back to his face. Together they grew, and the house watched as they did so.
The house with a red roof sat high upon the hill, old and tired now, its floors a little creaky,
the door squealing on its hinges. The walls had little cracks in them, the old yellow paint fading
chipping and falling apart. The little girl grew and became a young woman, clever and smart, who
went off to a university and never returned. Her parents remained, still taking care of the house
despite their age, never failing to bring warmth and light to that little home. Until one day, where
they both succumbed to their failing bodies, and were taken away to another home. However, the
girl returned, a family of her own now, and she wandered through the house, visiting it and
looking at all the memories it held. She remembered all the remnants of the past, the history
within the house. She felt a sense of sadness as she viewed its crumbling facade, the way it
looked aged and grey - but within the midst of it all, sprouted a vision for hope and change. So, she
thanked the house for all it had done, and bid it goodbye, but not for a final time.
And then one day, the builders arrived. They built and painted and furnished and decorated
until the house looked and felt all new again. Then the daughter arrived, surrounded by a group of
laughing children whom she had gathered from many forlorn places – children who were once
abandoned and lost, now given a home to stay. The first little family had grown, the fruits of their
love and hope and joy spreading until all who followed after benefited from it. The family grew
larger and larger, and the house was very happy to have them.
My soul who once stood as firm and islandly as a stone house covered in ivy, was softened
and molded through the many miscellaneous encounters transpired by the people who were
promptly put into my life. "Wow, have we grown as a family," says the forever unsmiling
superintendent with a tinge of impression, though, had I ever paused and pondered on how a
thing as this had truly happened?
Growth, extension, swelling, germination, maturation, all definitions laced with the exact
same meaning, yet so different from one another. I stroll past the first chapter of my youth
embracing these expressions, each term shaping me like a simple construction worker and his
petrichor scented clay (because, I trust that there certainly is beauty within the simplest things if
a mere commoner is tasked to sculpt the most substantial edifices with the help such of an
unadorned piece of material). Like a certain maxim I once heeded, “I've been the archer, I've
been the prey,” growing up by no doubt can be a jumbled labyrinth of one’s life, ludicrously
intricate yet carelessly packaged in a fragile paper bag.
Growth - the process of increasing in size. On the contrary, I soon unearthed the beautiful
discovery of The Growth Stunt by the time I hit the meek age of 15. Though putting all witticism
and sarcasm aside, I do believe that my character as a student, leader, daughter, sister, friend,
had grown finely due to the uncalled placement of my best friend, Ines, despite how obligatory
her entrance into my life was. Ines and I are two worlds apart. She enjoys artificial strawberries,
I loathe the plasticky smell of fruity liquorice. She is logical by instinct, I am creative by nature.
She leaves sentences stagnant with no proper punctuation, and I will release forth with multiple
puffs and sighs at the sight of a single clause sentence. Albeit, I would be guilty to not admit that
our surfeits of minuscule disagreements, mischievous bohemian rendezvous, and most
importantly, midnight FaceTime heart-to-hearts had allowed us to grow together as the deadliest
duo out there. And none of this aids a potential stop in the near or distant future. I cannot wait to
sprout further with Ines, because wow, have we grown as a family.
Extension - a part that is added to something to enlarge or prolong it. After months of
nonstop academics then came the attackable surprise that was my sports house
committee-ship. Perhaps this chance was a personally crafted meteor shower smashing its way
into my solar system, ravishingly yet menacingly. Words cannot narrate the spectrum of feelings
I felt whilst holding the sports house captain title, and somehow feeling both lost and secure, I
managed to pull myself together, eventually leading my team into the victory of 5th place. Now I
say victory because if all chivalry was truly dead, I'd still be buried in the 97 individual jerseys I
swore I’d go to war with. Providentially, my trusty team of assistants and human extension cords
came through to help. They totally did not Guinea pig themselves into this just to skip the extra
10 minutes of lesson time, though I really do have to say, thank you. Thank you for keeping my
sanity intact when nobody else was there to keep my stress infused brain and rosacea tinted
cheeks down, because wow, have we grown as a family.
Germination - the development of a plant from a seed or spore after a period of dormancy.
Maturation - the ripening of fruit. These two are the expressions that I firmly believe are maternal
twins of some sort. As long as we crave for full bloom maturation, germination must take place
for the seed to be planted in the first place. I admittedly divulge my stance that, yes, I have in
fact yet to mature or even germinate. But honestly, is that not how my entire epiphany came
about? "Wow, have we grown as a family," a constant mantra I wish to live by. I vouch to
continue to grow as a person, as a spirit, as a personality, as a soul, cause when you're 17, you
might just find out your potential and who you're supposed to be.

The memories we’ve made, Enjoy as a family,
The moments we’ve had, Leave the past,
The time all spent, Enter the present.
Both happy and sad Cherish the moments,
That brings happiness.
We’ll grow together,
We’re here for each other,
Past and future, Together as a family,
Forever and after We shall grow.
Living altogether,
We’ll share the joy, Is a great enjoyment.
Smiles and happiness, Together forever!
Even the pain,
Sorrow and sadness
Blessed are we to live a life,
We’ve got each other’s back, Full of fun, joy and love.
As one big family, Glad to be alive.
Growing together, Till the very end.
Happily and lovingly We live, we love, we laugh!
