Sundanese fairy tale Si Kabayan

This story tells about a young man named Si Kabayan. This young man is
known as someone who is resourceful but lazy. Si Kabayan has married a
woman named Nyi Iteung. They both lived at Nyi Iteung's house.

One day, Kabayan was asked by his in-laws to pick ripe jackfruit. With a heavy
heart, Si Kabayan agreed to his father-in-law's request. The jackfruit tree
referred to by the mother-in-law is located on the river bank and its trunk juts
out above the river.

When he got there, Si Kabayan tried to take an old and large jackfruit.
However, because the jackfruit was too big, Kabayan couldn't lift it.

“It's difficult to carry the jackfruit. Not lifted by me.” said Si Kabayan to
himself.

He then thought about how to bring the jackfruit home. Because the jackfruit
tree was on the river bank, Si Kabayan washed away the jackfruit.
Hey, you haven't come yet, have you? Even though I had asked the fruit to walk
home first. It turns out the jackfruit hasn't arrived yet." said Kabayan.

The in-laws were still confused and asked him to explain again.

"So, earlier I had picked the jackfruit, but ecause it was too heavy, I drowned it
in the river to get home by myself." explained Si Kabayan.

You dont joke! There's no story, the jackfruit can go home by itself." said his
father-in-law irritably.

"Huh, the stupid one is that jackfruit, he's so old he doesn't know the way
home." said Si Kabayan as he looked away
