INTRODUCTION

Ashleys Leadership Challenges

Transition from individuals to teams

Three times the work...a good idea?

Boss is not impressed-yet

Ashleys keys to success, communication, shared vision, and building relationships.

2
ENHANCING TEAM LEADERSHIP

• Prioritize Communication
• Foster open and consistent communication
• Encourage idea sharing and team cohesion
• Individualized Engagement
• Meet with team members individually
• Understand strengths, challenges, and aspirations
• Tailor leadership to meet individual needs
• Harness Team Strengths
• Recognize and utilize individual strengths
• Promote collaboration and synergy
• Optimize productivity and team performance

3
FOSTERING TEAMWORK

Define a Team Mission

• "Commitment to a clear mission is a key practice of a highly
effective team"(DuBrin, 2016, p.281).
• Team understands their roles and responsibilities
Serve As a Model of Teamwork
• Assist with an action plan
• Empower the team
• Team building is facilitated when team members work together to
set goals, identify roles, problem-solve, and strengthen
interprofessional relationships (Lacerenza et al., 2018).
Organize Team-Building Activities
• Differences exist among team members, and team building must be
an ongoing process (Dyer et al., 2013).
• Further collaboration, build trust, and improve relationships

4
ASHLEY'S CHARISMA

Ashley is presented as having a low level of charisma due to:

• Not creating a vision that uplifts and attracts others
• Not communicating the mission and inciting action among team
• Not inspiring others
• Autocratic approach of, "just go along with the team idea for now
(DuBrin, 2016, p. 305)
• No shared belief among Ashley and team members
• Ashley does not have an "almost -never-accept-no-attitude"
(DuBrin, 2016, p. 87)

5
KEYS FOR ASHLEY'S SUCCESS

Communication Empower others

Shared Vision Be clear and concise so others know what to

expect

Building Relationships Have empathy; build rapport

Dedication Motivate and inspire others, even when it's

tough;
help herself and her team grow as a person
