1. Shops
Match the shops below to the things that you can buy there.

Complete the sentences:

5. Talking point
Discuss all of the questions below in a written form.
1. What shops are in your neighbourhood?
I live in very quiet part of Kyiv, and we don’t have a lot of huge shops.
There are plenty of small convenience stores and several cafes.
2. Do you like shopping centres? Why/ why not?
I like big shopping centres because it is very convenient to have all shops
in one place, it takes less time for buying everything you need.
3. What is favourite shop? Why?
I like going to clothing shops more than food shops. I could spend hours
just looking at clothes, choosing things to try on and trying to find that
perfect look and price. My favourite shop is “Zara”, I love this shop
because their clothes are stylish and comfortable. I can always find
something to my taste, and I like the service. But unfortunately, now
Zara is closed in Ukraine.
4. What is your least favourite shop? Why?
My least favourite shop is NewYorker, the prices are relatively cheap, and
it is always crowded and noisy.
5. Where do you prefer to shop? In a small shops? In supermarkets or
hypermarkets? Why?
I prefer to shop in supermarkets if we talk about products. You can find
always what you need, you don’t need to go in different places to find
something from your shopping list.
6. Practice
You are shopping in a large hypermarket. Read the situations below. What
do you say to the staff?
1. You want to know if it is possible to buy coffee.
Sorry, could you please tell me if I can buy coffee here?
2. You see a shirt that you like. You want to see how it looks on you.
I would like to try this shirt in, could you please tell me where is
changing room?
3. You see a pair of boots that you like. Ask if they have your size?
Do you have these boots in a size 38, I would like to try them on?
4. You see a digital camera. Ask how much it costs.
I am sorry, could you please how much does this digital camera cost?
5. The shop assistant asks if you need any help. You don’t need help.
No, it's fine thanks. I’m just looking.
6. You want to buy some strawberries. About half a kilo.
Can I have about half a kilo of strawberries?
7. You are looking for fruit juice.
Could you tell me where I can find fruit juice?
8. You want to know if it is possible to buy printing paper.

9. You see a pair of sandals that you like. Ask if they have your size.
