Of the several prescribed Ziyarat of Imam al‐Husain (PBUH), one was recited by Imam
al‐Mahdi (PBUH) and reached us through one of his four special deputies. For that
reason, it is known as the Ziyarat that was issued from the sacred side (Ziyarat al‐
Nahiya al‐Muqaddasa).[1] One of the most important features of this Ziyarat is that
in different phrases, Imam al‐Mahdi (PBUH) graphically describes the events of Ashura
and the agony that Imam al‐Husain (PBUH) and his family faced on that horrific and
ominous day.
Part 1
Peace be upon Adam, the assalāmu alā ādama šifwatil-
chosen one of Allah from lāhi minkhalīqatih, ‫ﻦ‬
ْ ‫ﷲ ِﻣ‬
ِ ‫ﺻ ﹾﻔ َﻮ ِﺓ ﺍ‬
ِ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺁ َﺩ َﻡ‬
among His creation.
،ِ‫ﺧﹶﻠﻴ ﹶﻘ ِﺘﻪ‬
Peace be upon Seth (Shaith), assalāmu alā shaythin waliyil-
the friend of Allah and His lāhi wakhiyaratih, ،ِ‫ﺧ َﻴ َﺮِﺗﻪ‬
ِ ‫ﷲ َﻭ‬
ِ ‫ﻲﺍ‬
‫ﺚ َﻭِﻟ ﱢ‬
ٍ ‫ﺷ ْﻴ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹶ‬
elite.
Peace be upon Enoch (Idris), assalāmu alā 'idrīsal qā'imi lil-lāhibi-
who established (religion) on ħujjatih, ‫ﷲ‬
ِ ‫ﻢ‬
‫ﺲ ﺍﻟﹾﻘﺎِﺋ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺴﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺇﺩْﺭﻳ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟ ﱠ‬
behalf of Allah by His

‫ﺤﱠ‬ُ ‫ﹺﺑ‬
Peace be upon Noah (Nuh), assalāmu alā nūħinil mujābi fīdawatih,
whose invocation (for
‫ﺏ ﻓﻲ‬
‫ﺡ ﺍﹾﻟﻤُﺠﺎ ﹺ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻧﹸﻮ ﹴ‬

،ِ‫َﺩ ْﻋ َﻮِﺗﻪ‬
Peace be upon Hud, who was assalāmu alā hūdinil mamdūdi minal-
assisted through Allah’s aid. lāhi bi-maūnatih, ‫ﷲ‬
ِ ‫ﻦﺍ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻫُﻮ ٍﺩ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ْﻤﺪُﻭ ِﺩ ِﻣ‬
،ِ‫ﹺﺑ َﻤﻌُﻮﹶﻧ ِﺘﻪ‬
Peace be upon Salih, whom assalāmu alā šāliħil-ladhītawwajahul-
Allah crowned with His lāhu bi-karāmatih, ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﺟ ُﻪ ﺍ‬
َ ‫ﺢ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﹶﺗ ﱠﻮ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺻﺎِﻟ ﹺ‬
generosity.
،ِ‫ﹺﺑﻜﹶﺮﺍ َﻣ ِﺘﻪ‬
Peace be upon Abraham assalāmu alā 'ibrāhimal-
(Ibrahim), whom Allah ladhīħabāhul-lāhu bi-khullatih ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﻢ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﺣَﺒﺎ ُﻩ ﺍ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺇﺑْﺮﺍﻫﻴ‬
endowed with His friendship.
،ِ‫ﺨ ﱠﻠ ِﺘﻪ‬
‫ﹺﺑ ﹸ‬
Peace be upon Ishmael assalāmu alā 'ismaīlal-ladhī fadāhul-
(Isma’il), whom Allah lāhu bi-dhibħin ađīmin min jannatih ‫ﻞ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﻓﹶﺪﺍ ُﻩ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺇﺳْﻤﺎﻋﻴ ﹶ‬
ransomed with a great sacrifice
from His Heaven. ،ِ‫ﺟ ﱠﻨ ِﺘﻪ‬
َ ‫ﻦ‬
ْ ‫ﻢ ِﻣ‬
‫ﺢ ﻋَﻈﻴ ﹴ‬
‫ﺬْﺑ ﹴ‬

Peace be upon Isaac (Is’haq), assalāmu alā 'isħāqal-ladhī jaalal-
in whose progeny Allah placed lāhun-nubuwwata fī dhurriyyatih, ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﻞﺍ‬
‫ﺟ َﻌ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﻕ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺇﺳْﺤﺎ‬

for whom Allah restored his lāhu alayhi bašarahu bi-raħmatih, ‫ﷲ‬

َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ َﻳ ْﻌﻘﹸﻮ‬
sight by His mercy.
،ِ‫ﺣ َﻤ ِﺘﻪ‬
ْ ‫ﺼ َﺮ ُﻩ ﹺﺑ َﺮ‬
‫َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ِﻪ َﺑ ﹶ‬
Peace be upon Joseph (Yusuf), assalāmu alā yūsufal-ladhī najjāhul-
whom Allah rescued from the lāhu minal jubbi bi-ađamatih, ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﻒ ﺍﱠﻟﺬﻱ ﹶﻧﺠّﺎ ُﻩ ﺍ‬
َ ‫ﺳ‬
ُ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻳُﻮ‬
well by His majesty.
،ِ‫ﻈ َﻤ ِﺘﻪ‬
‫ﺐ ﹺﺑ َﻌ ﹶ‬
‫ﺠ ﱢ‬
ُ ‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟ‬

Peace be upon Moses (Musa), assalāmu alā mūsal-ladhī falaqal-
the one for whom Allah split lāhul baħra lahu bi-qudratih, ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﻖﺍ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻣُﻮﺳَﻰ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﹶﻓ ﹶﻠ‬
the sea with His Power.
،ِ‫ﺪ َﺭِﺗﻪ‬
ْ ‫ﺤ َﺮ ﹶﻟ ُﻪ ﹺﺑ ﹸﻘ‬
ْ ‫ﺍﹾﻟ َﺒ‬
Peace be upon Aaron (Harun), assalāmu alā hārūnal-ladhīkhaššahul-
whom Allah distinguished with lāhu bi-nubuwwatih, ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﺼ ُﻪ ﺍ‬
‫ﺧ ﱠ‬
‫ﻥ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻫﺎﺭُﻭ‬
his prophethood.
،ِ‫ﹺﺑ ﹸﻨ ُﺒ ﱠﻮِﺗﻪ‬
Peace be upon Jethro (Shu’aib), assalāmu alā shuaybil-
whom Allah made victorious ladhīnašarahul-lāhu alā 'ummatih, ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﺼ َﺮ ُﻩ ﺍ‬
‫ﺐ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﹶﻧ ﹶ‬
‫ﺷ َﻌ ْﻴ ﹺ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹸ‬
over his people.
،ِ‫ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹸﺍ ﱠﻣ ِﺘﻪ‬
Peace be upon David (Dawud), assalāmu alā dāwūdal-ladhī tābal-
to whom Allah turned (in lāhu alayhi min khaţī'atih, ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﺏﺍ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺩﺍ ُﻭ َﺩ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﺗﺎ‬

،ِ‫ﻦ ﺧﹶﻄﻴ ﹶﺌ ِﺘﻪ‬
ْ ‫َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ِﻪ ِﻣ‬
Peace be upon Solomon assalāmu alā sulaymānal-
(Sulaiman), for whom Allah ladhīdhallat lahul jinnu bi-izzatih, ‫ﺖ ﹶﻟ ُﻪ‬
‫ﻥ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﹶﺫﱠﻟ ﹾ‬
َ ‫ﺳ ﹶﻠﻴْﻤﺎ‬
ُ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ‬
made the Jinn subservient by
His majesty. ،ِ‫ﻦ ﹺﺑ ِﻌ ﱠﺰِﺗﻪ‬
‫ﺠ ﱡ‬
‫ﺍﹾﻟ ﹺ‬
Peace be upon Job (Ayyub), assalāmu alā 'ayyūbal-ladhī shafāhul-
whom Allah cured after his lāhu min illatih, ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﺏ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﺷﹶﻔﺎ ُﻩ ﺍ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺃﻳﱡﻮ‬
(prolonged) illness.
،ِ‫ﻦ ِﻋ ﱠﻠ ِﺘﻪ‬
ْ ‫ِﻣ‬
Peace be upon Jonah (Yunus), assalāmu alā yūnusal-ladhī 'anjazal-
for whom Allah fulfilled the lāhu lahu mađhmūna idatih, ‫ﷲ ﹶﻟ ُﻪ‬
ُ ‫ﺠ ﹶﺰ ﺍ‬
َ ‫ﺲ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﺃﹾﻧ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻳُﻮﹸﻧ‬
purport of His promise.
،ِ‫ﺪِﺗﻪ‬
َ ‫ﻥ ِﻋ‬
َ ‫ﻀﻤُﻮ‬
‫َﻣ ﹾ‬
Peace be upon Ezra (Uzair), assalāmu alā uzayril-ladhī 'aħyāhul-
whom Allah brought to life lāhu bada mītatih, ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ُﻋ ﹶﺰْﻳ ﹺﺮ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﺃﺣْﻴﺎ ُﻩ ﺍ‬
after his death.
،ِ‫ﺪ ﻣﻴ ﹶﺘ ِﺘﻪ‬
َ ‫َﺑ ْﻌ‬
Peace be upon Zechariah assalāmu alā zakariyyaš-
(Zakariyya), who remained šābiri fīmiħnatih, ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹶﺯ ﹶﻛ ﹺﺮﻳّﺎ ﺍﻟﺼﹼﺎﹺﺑ ﹺﺮ ﻓﻲ‬
patient in his tribulations.
،ِ‫ﺤ ﹶﻨ ِﺘﻪ‬
ْ ‫ِﻣ‬
Peace be upon John (Yahya), assalāmu alā yħayal-ladhī 'azlafahul-

whom Allah drew near (his lāhu bi-shahādatih, ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﺤﻴَﻰ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﺃ ﹾﺯﹶﻟ ﹶﻔ ُﻪ ﺍ‬

Peace be upon Muhammad, the assalāmu alā muħammaddin ħabībil-
beloved of Allah and His elite. lāhi wa šifwatih, ‫ﷲ َﻭ‬

‫ﻦ َﻋ ِﻠ ﱢ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺃﻣﻴﺮﹺﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ْﺆﻣِﻨﻴ‬
who was exclusively selected 'ukhuwwatih,

Peace be upon Fatima al-Zahra, assalāmu alā fāţimataz-zahrā'ibnatih,
his daughter.
،ِ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻓﺎ ِﻃ َﻤ ﹶﺔ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺰﻫْﺮﺍ ِﺀ ﺍْﺑ ﹶﻨ ِﺘﻪ‬
Peace be upon Abu assalāmu alā 'abi muħammadinil-
Muhammad al-Hasan, the ħasani wašiyyi 'abīhi wa khalīfatih, ‫ﻦ‬

Peace be upon al-Husain, who assalāmu alal-ħusaynil-
sacrificed himself up to the last ladhī samaħatnafsuhu bi-muhjatih ‫ﺖ‬
‫ﺤ ﹾ‬
َ ‫ﺳ َﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ‬
‫ﺴ ْﻴ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺤ‬
ُ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
drops of the blood of his heart.
،ِ‫ﺠ ِﺘﻪ‬
َ ‫ﺴ ُﻪ ﹺﺑ ُﻤ ْﻬ‬

[1] The “mistake” of the Prophet David has also been mentioned in Du’aa al-Mashlul taught by
Imam Ali (PBUH) as reported in Mafatih al-Jinan, as well as some other traditions. It should be
noted that the mistakes of the prophets are not the sins we know. In general, they might be
leaving out what was more preferable (Tark Awla) for their spiritual station. Nonetheless, it
should be emphasized that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HF) and his Ahl al-Bait (PBUT)were
immune even from these mistakes.
Part 2
Peace be upon him, who assalāmu alā man 'aţāal-lāha fī
obeyed Allah secretly and sirrihi wa alāniyatih, ‫ﺳ ﱢﺮ ِﻩ َﻭ‬
ِ ‫ﷲ ﻓﻲ‬
َ ‫ﻉﺍ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ﺃﻃﺎ‬
ْ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ َﻣ‬
openly.
،ِ‫ﻋَﻼﹺﻧ َﻴ ِﺘﻪ‬
Peace be upon whom Allah assalāmu alā man jaalal-lāhush-
placed a cure in the soil of his shifā'a fī turbatih, ‫ﷲ ﺍﻟﺸﱢﻔﺎ َﺀ ﻓﻲ‬
ُ ‫ﻞﺍ‬
‫ﺟ َﻌ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﻦ‬
place (of martyrdom).
،ِ‫ﹸﺗ ْﺮَﺑ ِﺘﻪ‬
Peace be upon the one under assalāmu alā manil 'ijābatu taħta
whose dome answer (to qubbatih, ،ِ‫ﺖ ﹸﻗ ﱠﺒ ِﺘﻪ‬
‫ﺤ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫ﻦ ﺍﻹﺟﺎَﺑ ﹸﺔ ﹶﺗ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ َﻣ ﹺ‬

Peace be upon the one in assalāmu alā manil 'a'immatu min
whose descendants are the dhurriyyatih, ،ِ‫ﻦ ﹸﺫ ﱢﺭﱠﻳ ِﺘﻪ‬
ْ ‫ﻦ ﺍﻷِﺋ ﱠﻤ ﹸﺔ ِﻣ‬
Imams (after him).
Peace be upon the son of the assalāmu alabni khātamil anbiyā',
seal of the prophets.
،ِ‫ﻢ ﺍﻷﹾﻧﺒﹺﻴﺎﺀ‬
‫ﻦ ﺧﺎﹶﺗ ﹺ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍْﺑ ﹺ‬
Peace be upon the son of the assalāmu alabni sayyidil awšiyā',
chief of the executors.
،ِ‫ﺪ ﺍﻷ ْﻭﺻِﻴﺎﺀ‬
ِ ‫ﺳ ﱢﻴ‬

Peace be upon the son assalāmu alabni fāţimaz-zahrā',
of Fatima, the radiant.
،ِ‫ﻦ ﻓﺎ ِﻃ َﻤ ﹶﺔ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺰﻫْﺮﺍﺀ‬
Peace be upon the son of assalāmu alabni khadijatal kubrā,
Khadija, the great.
،‫ﻜﺒْﺮﻯ‬
‫ﺠ ﹶﺔ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ﺧﹶﺪﻳ‬
Peace be upon the son of the assalāmu alabni sidratil muntahā,
lote-tree in the outermost

Peace be upon the son of the assalāmu alabni jannatil ma'wā,
Garden of refuge.

Peace be upon the son of assalāmu alabni zamzama waš-
Zamzam and al-Safaa. šafā ،‫ﻦ ﹶﺯ ْﻣ ﹶﺰ َﻡ َﻭ ﺍﻟﺼﱠﻔﺎ‬
Peace be upon him, who was assalāmu alal murrammali bid-
saturated in (his) blood. dimā', ،ِ‫ﻞ ﺑﹺﺎﻟﺪﱢﻣﺎﺀ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ َﺮ ﱠﻣ ﹺ‬
Peace be upon him, whose assalāmu alal mahtūkil khibā',
tents were violated.
،ِ‫ﻙ ﺍﹾﻟﺨِﺒﺎﺀ‬
ِ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ْﻬﺘﹸﻮ‬
Peace be upon the fifth of the assalāmu alā khāmisi 'ašħābil
People of the Cloak. kisā', ،‫ﺏ ﺍﹾﻟﻜِﺴﺎ ِﺀ‬
‫ﺲ ﺃﺻﹾﺤﺎ ﹺ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺧﺎ ِﻣ ﹺ‬
Peace be upon the loneliest of assalāmu alā gharībil ghurabā',
the lonely.
،ِ‫ﺐ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸﻐﺮَﺑﺎﺀ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻏﹶﺮﻳ ﹺ‬
Peace be upon the (greatest) assalāmu alā shahīdish-shuhadā',
martyr of all martyrs.
،ِ‫ﺸﻬَﺪﺍﺀ‬
‫ﺪ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬

Peace be upon him, who was assalāmu alā qatīlil adiyā',
slain by the individuals of
،ِ‫ﻞ ﺍﻷ ْﺩﻋِﻴﺎﺀ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻗﹶﺘﻴ ﹺ‬
illegitimate birth.
Peace be upon the one who is assalāmu alā sākini karbalā',
at rest in Karbala.
،َ‫ﻦ ﹶﻛ ْﺮَﺑﻼﺀ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺳﺎ ِﻛ ﹺ‬
Peace be upon the one for assalāmu alā man bakat-hu
whom the heavenly Angels malā'ikatus-samā' ،ِ‫ﻜ ﹸﺔ ﺍﻟﺴﱠﻤﺎﺀ‬
‫ﻜ ﹾﺘ ُﻪ ﻣَﻼِﺋ ﹶ‬
‫ﻦ َﺑ ﹶ‬
wept.
Peace be upon the one whose assalāmu alā man dhuriyyatuhul
descendants are the pure. azkiyā', ،ُ‫ﻦ ﹸﺫ ﱢﺭﱠﻳ ﹸﺘ ُﻪ ﺍﻷ ﹾﺯﻛِﻴﺎﺀ‬
Peace be upon the chief of assalāmu alā yasūbid-dīn
the religion.
،‫ﺏ ﺍﻟﺪّﻳﻦﹺ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ َﻳ ْﻌﺴُﻮ ﹺ‬
Peace be upon the places of assalāmu alā manāzilil barāhīn,

the (divine) proofs.

Peace be upon the one whose assalāmu alā man hutikat

Peace be upon the one who was assalāmu alal mughassali
bathed in the blood of his bidamil jirāħ, ،‫ﺪ ﹺﻡ ﺍﹾﻟﺠﹺﺮﺍﺡﹺ‬
َ ‫ﻞ ﹺﺑ‬
‫ﺴ ﹺ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ﹶﻐ ﱠ‬
wounds.
Peace be upon the one who assalāmu alal mujarrai
tasted the spears raining down bika'sātir-rimāħ, ‫ﺕ‬
ِ ‫ﻜﺄﹾﺳﺎ‬
‫ﻉ ﹺﺑ ﹶ‬
‫ﺠ ﱠﺮ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ‬
over his body.
،‫ﺍﻟﺮﱢﻣﺎﺡﹺ‬
Peace be upon the one against assalāmu alal muđhāmil
whom people came together mustabāħ, ،‫ﺴﺘﹶﺒﺎﺡﹺ‬
ْ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟﻤُﻀﺎ ﹺﻡ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ‬
and made lawful the shedding
of his blood.
Peace be upon the one assalāmu alal manħūri fil warā,
slaughtered in public.
،‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ﹾﻨﺤُﻮ ﹺﺭ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟﻮَﺭﻯ‬
Peace be upon the one who was assalāmu alā man dafanahu
buried by the strangers from 'ahlul qurā, ،‫ﻞ ﺍﹾﻟﻘﹸﺮﻯ‬
‫ﻦ َﺩ ﹶﻓ ﹶﻨ ُﻪ ﺃ ْﻫ ﹸ‬
(nearby) villages.
Peace be upon the one assalāmu alal maqţūil watīn,
whose aorta was severed.
،‫ﻉ ﺍﹾﻟﻮَﺗﻴﻦﹺ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ﹾﻘﻄﹸﻮ ﹺ‬
Peace be upon the defender assalāmu alal muħāmī bilā
who had no helper. muīn, ،‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟﻤُﺤﺎﻣﻲ ﺑﹺﻼ ﻣُﻌﻴﻦ‬
Peace be upon the gray hair assalāmu alash-shaybil
that was dyed (with blood). khađhīb, ،‫ﺐ ﺍﹾﻟﺨﹶﻀﻴﺐﹺ‬
‫ﺸ ْﻴ ﹺ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﻟ ﱠ‬
Peace be upon the cheek that assalāmu alal khaddit-tarīb,
struck the dust.
،‫ﺪ ﺍﻟﺘﱠﺮﻳﺐﹺ‬
‫ﺨﱢ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶ‬
Peace be upon the butchered assalāmu alal badanis-salīb,

body.
،‫ﻥ ﺍﻟﺴﱠﻠﻴﺐﹺ‬
ِ‫ﺪ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟ َﺒ‬
Peace be upon the front teeth assalāmu alath-thaghril maqrūi
that were beaten with a rod. bil qađhīb, ‫ﻉ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺜ ﹾﻐ ﹺﺮ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ﹾﻘﺮُﻭ ﹺ‬
،‫ﺑﹺﺎﹾﻟﻘﹶﻀﻴﺐﹺ‬
Peace be upon the head raised assalāmu alar-ra'sil marfū,
(upon a lance).
،‫ﺱ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ْﺮﻓﹸﻮﻉﹺ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺮﹾﺃ ﹺ‬
Peace be upon the unclothed assalāmu alal 'ajsāmil āriyati fil
corpses in the desert, bitten by falawāt, tanhashuhadh-dhi'ābul
‫ﺍﹶﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﻷﺟْﺴﺎ ﹺﻡ ﺍﻟﹾﻌﺎ ﹺﺭَﻳ ِﺔ ﻓِﻲ‬
wild wolves[1] and around ādiyāt, wa takhtalifu 'ilayhas-
whom the beasts of prey sibāuđh-đhāriyāt, ‫ َﻭ‬،‫ﺏ ﺍﻟﹾﻌﺎﺩِﻳﺎﺕﹸ‬
ُ ‫ﺸﻬَﺎ ﺍﻟﺬﱢﺋﺎ‬
‫ ﹶﺗ ﹾﻨ َﻬ ﹸ‬،ِ‫ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻔﻠﹶﻮﺍﺕ‬
prowled.
،‫ﻉ ﺍﻟﻀﹼﺎﺭﹺﻳﺎﺕﹸ‬
ُ ‫ﻒ ﺇﹶﻟ ْﻴﻬَﺎ ﺍﻟﺴﱢﺒﺎ‬
ُ ‫ﺨ ﹶﺘ ِﻠ‬
‫ﹶﺗ ﹾ‬

flutter around your dome,
،‫ﻚ‬ َ ‫اﻟ ُْﻤ َﺮﻓْـ َﺮ‬
َ ِ‫ﺻﺘ‬
،‫ﻚ‬ َ ‫ﻔﻴﻦ ﺑِ َﻌ ْﺮ‬
ِ
َ ‫ اﻟﻄّﺎﺋ‬،‫ﻚ‬ َ ِ‫ﻴﻦ ﺑِﺘُـ ْﺮﺑَﺘ‬
َ ّ‫اﻟْﺤﺎﻓ‬
surround your grave, al-ħāffīna biturrbatik, aţ-ţā'ifīna
circumambulate your courtyard, biaršatik, al-wāridīna
liziyāratik,
،‫ﻚ‬ ِ ‫اﻟْﻮا ِردﻳﻦ ﻟِ ِﺰ‬
َ ‫ﻳﺎرﺗ‬
and come for your visitation.

Peace be upon you! Indeed, I
intended your visitation, and I
assalāmu alayka fa'innī qašadtu
'ilayk, wa rajawtul fawza ‫ َو‬،‫ﻚ‬

prosperity that is with you.

‫ﺺ ﻓﻲ‬ َ ِ‫ف ﺑِ ُﺤ ْﺮَﻣﺘ‬ ِ ‫ﺳﻼم اﻟْﻌﺎ ِر‬

ِ ‫ اﻟْﺒ‬،‫ﻚ‬ِ ِ
َ َ ‫ب إﻟَﻰ اﷲ ﺑِ َﻤ َﺤﺒﱠﺘ‬ ِ ‫ اﻟ ُْﻤﺘَـ َﻘ ﱢﺮ‬،‫ﻚ‬َ ِ‫ِوﻻﻳَﺘ‬
mutaqqarribi 'ilal-lāhi
sincere (believer) in your
guardianship, seeks nearness to bimaħabbatik, al-barī'i min ‫ﺮيء‬
َ ِ‫ِﻣ ْﻦ أ ْﻋﺪاﺋ‬
'adā'ik,
Allah through your love, and is
aloof from your enemies,
،‫ﻚ‬
ُ‫ َو َد ْﻣﻌُﻪ‬،‫وح‬ َ ِ‫ﻼم َﻣ ْﻦ ﻗَـﻠْﺒُﻪُ ﺑِ ُﻤﺼﺎﺑ‬

ٌ ‫ﻚ َﻣ ْﻘ ُﺮ‬ َ ‫َﺳ‬
Salutations from the one whose salāma man qalbuhu
heart is wounded due to the bimušābika maqrūħ, wa
damuhu inda dhikrika masfūħ,

ٌ ‫ﻋ ْﻨ َﺪ ذ ْﻛ ِﺮ َك َﻣ ْﺴ ُﻔ‬
،‫ﻮح‬
tribulations you have suffered,
and whose tears flow in your
remembrance,
Salutations from the one who is
distressed, grief-stricken,
salāmal mafjūil ħazīn, al-
wālihil-mustakīn, ،‫ اﻟْﻮاﻟِ ِﻪ اﻟ ُْﻤ ْﺴﺘَﻜﻴ ِﻦ‬،‫ْﺤﺰﻳ ِﻦ‬
َ ‫ﻮع اﻟ‬
ِ ‫ﻼم اﻟ َْﻤ ْﻔ ُﺠ‬
َ ‫َﺳ‬
distracted, and yielding,
‫ﻗﺎك‬
َ ‫ ﻟََﻮ‬،‫ﻮف‬ ِ ‫ﻚ ﺑِﺎﻟﻄﱡُﻔ‬ َ ‫ﻼم َﻣ ْﻦ ﻟَ ْﻮ ﻛﺎ َن َﻣ َﻌ‬
َ ‫َﺳ‬
Salutations from the one, who, salāma man law kāna maaka
had he been present with you in biţ-ţufūf, lawaqāka binafsihi
ħaddas-suyūf, wa badhala ِ ‫ﺑِﻨَـ ْﻔ ِﺴ ِﻪ ﺣ ﱠﺪ اﻟ ﱡ‬
ُ‫ َو ﺑَ َﺬ َل ُﺣﺸﺎ َﺷﺘَﻪ‬،‫ﺴﻴُﻮف‬
that plain, would have shielded
you from the sharpness of the ħushāshatahu dūnaka lil ħutūf, َ
ِ ‫ﻚ ﻟِﻠْﺤﺘ‬
،‫ﻮف‬ ُ ُ َ َ‫ُدوﻧ‬
swords with his body and
sacrificed his last breath for you,
would have struggled beside
you, helped you against the
wa jāhada bayna yadayk, wa
našaraka alā man baghā alayk, ‫ﺼ َﺮ َك َﻋﻠﻰ َﻣ ْﻦ ﺑَﻐﻰ‬ َ َ‫ َو ﻧ‬،‫ﻚ‬َ ْ‫ﺟﺎﻫ َﺪ ﺑَـ ْﻴ َﻦ ﻳَ َﺪﻳ‬
َ ‫َو‬
wa fadāka birūħihi wa jasadihi
‫ﺴ ِﺪ ِﻩ َو ﻣﺎﻟِ ِﻪ َو‬ ِ ِ ِ َ َ‫ و ﻓ‬،‫ﻚ‬
َ ‫ﺪاك ﺑ ُﺮوﺣﻪ َو َﺟ‬ َ َ ‫َﻋﻠَْﻴ‬
aggressors, and redeemed you
with his soul, body, wealth, and wa mālihi wa waladih,
children,
،‫َوﻟَ ِﺪ ِﻩ‬
(Salutations from the one) wa rūħuhu li rūħika fidā',
،ٌ‫ﻚ ﻓِﺪاء‬ ِ ‫و روﺣﻪ ﻟِﺮ‬
َ ‫وﺣ‬
whose soul is a sacrifice for ُ ُُ ُ َ
yours,
،ٌ‫ﻚ ِوﻗﺎء‬ َ ِ‫َو ْأﻫﻠُﻪُ ِﻷ ْﻫﻠ‬

and whose family is a shield for wa 'ahluhu li 'ahlika wiqā',
yours.
‫ﺼ ِﺮ َك‬ ِ ‫ﻓَـﻠَﺌِﻦ أﺧ‬

ُ ‫ﱠﺮﺗْﻨﻲ اﻟ ﱡﺪ ُﻫ‬
ْ َ‫ َو ﻋﺎﻗَﻨﻲ َﻋ ْﻦ ﻧ‬،‫ﻮر‬
But as I have been hindered by fala'in 'akh-kharatnid-duhūr,
the course of time and as wa āqanī an našrikal maqdūr َ ْ
(Allah’s) decree has prevented
me from helping you,
،‫ور‬
ُ ‫اﻟ َْﻤ ْﻘ ُﺪ‬
and as I could not fight those
who fought you, and was not
wa lam 'akun liman ħārabaka
muħāribā, wa liman našaba ‫ َو ﻟِ َﻤ ْﻦ‬،ً‫ﻚ ُﻣﺤﺎ ِرﺑﺎ‬ َ َ‫ﺣﺎرﺑ‬ ِ
َ ‫َو ﻟَ ْﻢ أ ُﻛ ْﻦ ﻟ َﻤ ْﻦ‬
lakal adāwata munāšibā,
ِ ‫ﻚ اﻟْﻌﺪاوةَ ﻣ‬
،ً‫ﻨﺎﺻﺒﺎ‬ ُ َ َ َ َ‫ﺐ ﻟ‬ َ‫ﺼ‬ َ َ‫ﻧ‬
able to show hostility to those
who showed hostility to you,
َ َ‫ﺴﺎء َو َﻷَﺑْ ِﻜﻴَ ﱠﻦ ﻟ‬

‫ﻚ‬ ً ‫ﺻﺒﺎﺣﺎً َو َﻣ‬ َ ‫ﱠﻚ‬ َ ‫ﻓَ َﻸَﻧْ ُﺪﺑَـﻨ‬
I will, therefore, lament you Fala'andubannaka šabāħan wa
morning and evening, and will masā'ā, wa la'abkiyanna laka
badalad-dumūi damā, ħasratan
weep blood in place of tears, out
of my anguish for you and my alayka wa ta'assufan alā mā ً‫ﻚ َو ﺗَﺄ ﱡﺳﻔﺎ‬ َ ‫ َﺣ ْﺴ َﺮًة َﻋﻠَْﻴ‬،ً‫ﻮع َدﻣﺎ‬ ِ ‫ﺑَ َﺪ َل اﻟ ﱡﺪ ُﻣ‬
dahāka wa talahhufā,
sorrow for all that befell you,
،ً‫ﻫﺎك َو ﺗَـﻠَ ﱡﻬﻔﺎ‬
َ ‫َﻋﻠﻰ ﻣﺎ َد‬
until I meet death from the pain
of the catastrophe and the
ħattā 'amūta bilawatil mušāb
wa ghuššatil 'ikti'yāb, ‫ﺼ ِﺔ‬
‫ َو ﻏُ ﱠ‬،‫ﺼﺎب‬ ِ ‫ﻮت ﺑِﻠَ ْﻮ َﻋ ِﺔ اﻟ ُْﻤ‬َ ‫َﺣﺘّﻰ ُأﻣ‬
choking grief. ِ ِ‫اﻹ ْﻛﺘ‬
،‫ﻴﺎب‬
Part 6
I bear witness that you certainly 'ash-hadu 'annaka qad
established prayer, gave alms, 'aqamtaš-šalāt, wa ātaytaz- ‫ َﻭ‬،‫ﺖ ﺍﻟﺼﱠﻠﻮﺓﹶ‬
‫ﺪ ﺃ ﹶﻗ ْﻤ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫ﻚ ﹶﻗ‬
َ ‫ﺪ ﺃ ﱠﻧ‬
ُ ‫ﺷ َﻬ‬
‫ﺃﹾ‬
zakāt,
،‫ﺖ ﺍﻟﺰﱠﻛﻮﺓﹶ‬
‫ﺁﹶﺗ ْﻴ ﹶ‬
enjoined good, forbade evil and wa 'amarta bil marūf, wa
transgression, nahayta anil munkari wal ‫ﻦ‬
‫ﺖ َﻋ ﹺ‬
‫ َﻭ ﹶﻧ َﻬ ْﻴ ﹶ‬،ِ‫ﺕ ﺑﹺﺎﹾﻟ َﻤ ْﻌﺮُﻭﻑ‬
‫َﻭ ﺃ َﻣ ْﺮ ﹶ‬
udwān,
،ِ‫ﻜ ﹺﺮ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻌﺪْﻭﺍﻥ‬
‫ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ﹾﻨ ﹶ‬
obeyed Allah, never disobeyed wa 'aţatal-lāha wa mā

Him, and held fast to Him and to ašaytah, wa tamassakta bihi ‫ َﻭ‬،ُ‫ﺼ ْﻴ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﷲ َﻭ ﻣﺎ َﻋ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﺖﺍ‬
‫َﻭ ﺃ ﹶﻃ ْﻌ ﹶ‬
His rope. wa bi ħablih,
‫ﺤ ْﺒ ِﻠ ِﻪ‬
َ ‫ﺖ ﹺﺑ ِﻪ َﻭ ﹺﺑ‬
‫ﻜ ﹶ‬
‫ﺴﹾ‬‫ﹶﺗ َﻤ ﱠ‬
Then, you pleased Him, held Him fa 'arđhaytahu wa
in awe, were attentive towards khashaytahu wa rāqabtahu ‫ﺿ ْﻴ ﹶﺘ ُﻪ َﻭ ﺧﹶﺸﻴ ﹶﺘ ُﻪ َﻭ ﺭﺍ ﹶﻗ ْﺒ ﹶﺘ ُﻪ َﻭ‬
‫ﻓﹶﺄ ْﺭ ﹶ‬
Him, and were responsive to Him, wastajabtah,
،ُ‫ﺠ ْﺒ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
َ ‫ﺳ ﹶﺘ‬
ْ‫ﺍ‬
established the customs (of the wa sanantas-sunan, wa
Prophet (PBUH&HF)), extinguished 'aţfa'tal fitan, ،َ‫ﺕ ﺍﹾﻟ ِﻔ ﹶﺘﻦ‬
‫ َﻭ ﺃ ﹾﻃ ﹶﻔ ﹾﺄ ﹶ‬،َ‫ﺴ ﹶﻨﻦ‬
‫ﺖ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
‫ﺳ ﹶﻨ ﹾﻨ ﹶ‬
َ ‫َﻭ‬
turmoil (in religion),
invited people to rectitude, wa daawta 'ilar-rashād, wa
clarified the ways of 'awđhaħta subulas-sadād, wa ‫ﺖ‬
‫ﺤ ﹶ‬
ْ‫ﺿ‬
‫ َﻭ ﺃ ْﻭ ﹶ‬،ِ‫ﺕ ﺇﻟﹶﻰ ﺍﻟﺮﱠﺷﺎﺩ‬
‫َﻭ َﺩ َﻋ ْﻮ ﹶ‬
righteousness, and truly strove in jāhadta fil-lāhi ħaqqal jihād,
the way of Allah. ‫ﷲ‬
ِ ‫ﺕ ﻓِﻲ ﺍ‬
‫ﺪ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫ َﻭ ﺟﺎ َﻫ‬،ِ‫ﻞ ﺍﻟﺴﱠﺪﺍﺩ‬
‫ﺳ ُﺒ ﹶ‬

،ِ‫ﻖ ﺍﹾﻟﺠﹺﻬﺎﺩ‬
‫ﺣ ﱠ‬

You were an obedient one to wa kunta lil-lāhi ţā'iā,
Allah,
،‫ﷲ ﻃﺎﺋِﻌﺎﹰ‬
ِ ‫ﺖ‬
‫َﻭ ﹸﻛ ﹾﻨ ﹶ‬
a follower of your grandfather, wali jaddika muħammadin
Muhammad, peace be upon him šallal-lāhu alayhi wa ālihi ‫ﷲ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ِﻪ َﻭ‬
ُ ‫ﺻﻠﱠﻰ ﺍ‬
‫ﺪ ﹶ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻙ ُﻣ‬
َ ‫ﺪ‬
‫ﺠﱢ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ِﻟ‬
and his family, tābiā,
،‫ﺁِﻟ ِﻪ ﺗﺎﺑﹺﻌﺎﹰ‬
heedful of the saying of your wali qawli 'abīka sāmiā,
father,
،‫ﻚ ﺳﺎﻣِﻌﺎﹰ‬
َ ‫ﻝ ﺃﺑﻴ‬
‫َﻭ ِﻟ ﹶﻘ ْﻮ ﹺ‬
quick to execute the will of your wa 'ilā waššiyyati 'akhīka
brother, musāriā, ،‫ﻚ ﻣُﺴﺎﺭﹺﻋﺎﹰ‬
َ ‫ﺻ ﱠﻴ ِﺔ ﺃﺧﻴ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ﺇﻟﻰ َﻭ‬
an erector of the pillars of the wali imādid-dīni rāfiā, wa liţ-
religion, a suppressor of tyranny, ţughyāni qāmiā, ‫ﻥ‬
ِ ‫ﻄﻐﹾﻴﺎ‬
‫ َﻭ ﻟِﻠ ﱡ‬،‫ﻦ ﺭﺍﻓِﻌﺎﹰ‬
‫َﻭ ِﻟﻌِﻤﺎ ِﺩ ﺍﻟﺪّﻳ ﹺ‬
،‫ﻗﺎﻣِﻌﺎﹰ‬
an advancer on the transgressors, wa liţ-ţughāti muqāriā, wa lil
and a sincere exhorter for the 'ummati nāšiħā, ،‫ﻸ ﱠﻣ ِﺔ ﻧﺎﺻِﺤﺎﹰ‬
ُ ‫ َﻭ ِﻟ‬،‫َﻭ ﻟِﻠﻄﱡﻐﺎ ِﺓ ﻣُﻘﺎﺭﹺﻋﺎﹰ‬
nation,
a traveler into mortal throes, wa fī ghamarātil mawti
sābiħā, ،‫ﺕ ﺳﺎﺑﹺﺤﺎﹰ‬
ِ ‫ﺕ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ْﻮ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ﻓﻲ ﹶﻏﻤَﺮﺍ‬
a warrior against the wretched, wa lil fussāqi mukāfiħā, wa
and a maintainer of Allah’s proofs bi-ħujajil-lāhi qā'imā, ‫ﷲ‬
ِ ‫ﺞﺍ‬
‫ﺠ ﹺ‬
َ‫ﺤ‬ُ ‫ َﻭ ﹺﺑ‬،‫ﻕ ﻣُﻜﺎﻓِﺤﺎﹰ‬
‫َﻭ ِﻟ ﹾﻠ ﹸﻔﺴّﺎ ﹺ‬
(on earth),
،‫ﻗﺎﺋِﻤﺎﹰ‬
compassionate towards Islam and wa lil 'islāmi wal muslimīna
Muslims, rāħimā, ،‫ﻦ ﺭﺍﺣِﻤﺎﹰ‬
َ ‫ﺴﻠِﻤﻴ‬
ْ ‫ﻺﺳْﻼ ﹺﻡ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ِﻟ‬
a champion of truth and most wa lil ħaqqi nāširā, wa indal
patient in adversity, balā'i šābirā, ،‫ﺪ ﺍﹾﻟﺒَﻼ ِﺀ ﺻﺎﺑﹺﺮﺍﹰ‬
َ ‫ َﻭ ِﻋ ﹾﻨ‬،‫ﻖ ﻧﺎﺻِﺮﺍﹰ‬
‫ﺤ ﱢ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ِﻟ ﹾﻠ‬
a protector for the religion, and a wa liddīni kāli'ā, wa an
defender of its domain. ħawzatihi murāmiyā, ،‫ﺣ ْﻮ ﹶﺯِﺗ ِﻪ ﻣُﺮﺍﻣِﻴﺎﹰ‬
َ ‫ﻦ‬
ْ ‫ َﻭ َﻋ‬،‫ﻦ ﻛﺎﻟِﺌﺎﹰ‬
‫َﻭ ﻟِﻠﺪّﻳ ﹺ‬
You safeguarded the right path taħūţul hudā wa tanšuruh,

and supported it,
،ُ‫ﺼ ُﺮﻩ‬
‫ﻁ ﺍﹾﻟﻬُﺪﻯ َﻭ ﹶﺗ ﹾﻨ ﹸ‬
‫ﹶﺗﺤُﻮ ﹸ‬
spread justice and promoted it, wa tabsuţul adla wa
tanshuruh, ،ُ‫ﺸ ُﺮﻩ‬
‫ﻝ َﻭ ﹶﺗ ﹾﻨ ﹸ‬
‫ﺪﹶ‬
ْ ‫ﻂ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻌ‬
‫ﺴ ﹸ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ ﹶﺗ ْﺒ‬
advocated the faith and wa tanšurud-dīna wa
manifested it, tuđhiruh, ،ُ‫ﻈ ﹺﻬ ُﺮﻩ‬
‫ﻦ َﻭ ﹸﺗ ﹾ‬
َ ‫ﺼ ُﺮ ﺍﻟﺪّﻳ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶﺗ ﹾﻨ ﹸ‬
restrained and reproached the wa takkufful ābitha wa
frivolous, tazjuruh, ،ُ‫ﺟ ُﺮﻩ‬
ُ ‫ﺚ َﻭ ﹶﺗ ﹾﺰ‬
‫ﻒ ﺍﻟﹾﻌﺎﹺﺑ ﹶ‬
‫ﻜ ﱡ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶﺗ ﹸ‬
took back (the rights) of the lowly wa ta'khudhu lid-daniyyi
from the privileged, minash-sharīf, ،ِ‫ﻦ ﺍﻟﺸﱠﺮﻳﻒ‬
َ ‫ﻲ ِﻣ‬
‫ﺪﹺﻧ ﱢ‬
‫ﺬ ﻟِﻠ ﱠ‬
‫ﺧﹸ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶﺗ ﹾﺄ ﹸ‬
and were equitable in your wa tusāwī fil ħukmi baynal
arbitrations between the weak and qawiyyi wađh-đhaīf, ‫ﻱ َﻭ‬
‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻘ ﹺﻮ ﱢ‬
َ ‫ﻢ َﺑ ْﻴ‬
‫ﻜﹺ‬
‫ﺤﹾ‬ُ ‫َﻭ ﺗﹸﺴﺎﻭﻱ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
the strong.
،ِ‫ﺍﻟﻀﱠﻌﻴﻒ‬
You were the springtime of the kunta rabīal 'aytām, wa
orphans, the protection of išmatal 'anām, wa izzal ‫ َﻭ‬،‫ﺼ َﻤ ﹶﺔ ﺍﻷﻧﺎﻡﹺ‬
‫ َﻭ ِﻋ ﹾ‬،‫ﻊ ﺍﻷﻳْﺘﺎﻡﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺖ ﺭَﺑﻴ‬
‫ﹸﻛ ﹾﻨ ﹶ‬
humanity, the glory of Islam, 'islām,
،‫ِﻋ ﱠﺰ ﺍﻹﺳْﻼﻡﹺ‬
the treasure of divine laws, and a wa madinal 'aħkām wa
relentless ally of benevolence. ħalīfal 'inām, ،‫ﻒ ﺍﻹﻧﹾﻌﺎﻡﹺ‬
َ ‫ َﻭ ﺣَﻠﻴ‬،‫ﻥ ﺍﻷﺣْﻜﺎﻡﹺ‬
َ‫ﺪ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ َﻣ ْﻌ‬
Part 7
You pursued the path of your sālikan ţarā'iqa jaddika wa
grandfather and your father, 'abīk, ‫ﻙ َﻭ‬
َ ‫ﺪ‬
‫ﺟﱢ‬
َ [ِ‫ﻖ ]ﻓﻲ ﻃﹶﺮﻳ ﹶﻘﺔ‬
َ ‫ﺳﺎﻟِﻜ ﹰﺎ ﻃﹶﺮﺍِﺋ‬
،َ‫ﺃﺑﻴﻚ‬
resembled your brother in will, mushbihan fil wašiyyati li
'akhīk, ،َ‫ﺻ ﱠﻴ ِﺔ ﻟِﺄﺧﻴﻚ‬
ِ ‫ﺸﺒﹺﻬ ﹰﺎ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻮ‬
‫ُﻣ ﹾ‬
were loyal to your obligations, wafiyyadh-dhimam, rađhiyyash-
possessed pleasant manners, shiyam ،‫ﺸ َﻴﻢﹺ‬
‫ﻲ ﺍﻟ ﱢ‬
‫ﺿ ﱠ‬
ِ ‫ َﺭ‬،‫ﺬ َﻣﻢﹺ‬
‫ﻲ ﺍﻟ ﱢ‬
‫َﻭ ِﻓ ﱠ‬
embodied generosity, and đāhiral karam, mutahajjidan
spent the darkness (of night) in fiđ-đulam, ،‫ﻈ ﹶﻠﻢﹺ‬
‫ ُﻣ ﹶﺘ َﻬﺠﱢﺪﹰﺍ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬،‫ﻜ َﺮﻡﹺ‬
‫ﻇﺎ ِﻫ َﺮ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶ‬
prayer.
You were the straightest path, qawīmaţ-ţarā'iq, karīmal
the most generous of the khalā'iq, ađīmas-sawābiq, ‫ﻢ‬
َ ‫ ﻋَﻈﻴ‬،‫ﻢ ﺍﹾﻟﺨﹶﻼِﺋﻖﹺ‬
َ ‫ ﻛﹶﺮﻳ‬،‫ﻢ ﺍﻟﻄﱠﺮﺍِﺋﻖﹺ‬
َ ‫ﻗﹶﻮﻳ‬
creation, and had the brightest
record. ،‫ﺍﻟﺴﱠﻮﺍﹺﺑﻖﹺ‬
You were of great ancestry, sharīfan-nasab, munīfal ħasab,
noble descent, and lofty rank. rafīar-rutab, ،‫ﺴﺐﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺤ‬
َ ‫ﻒ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
َ ‫ ﻣُﻨﻴ‬،‫ﺴﺐﹺ‬
َ ‫ﻒ ﺍﻟ ﱠﻨ‬
َ ‫ﺷﹶﺮﻳ‬
،‫ﻊ ﺍﻟ ﱡﺮﹶﺗﺐﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺭَﻓﻴ‬
You possessed plentiful merits, kathīral manāqib, maħmūdađh-

praiseworthy manners, and đharā'ib, jazīlal mawāhib, ،‫ﺤﻤُﻮ َﺩ ﺍﻟﻀﱠﺮﺍِﺋﺐﹺ‬
ْ ‫ َﻣ‬،‫ﻛﹶﺜﻴ َﺮ ﺍﹾﻟﻤَﻨﺎ ِﻗﺐﹺ‬

،‫ﻞ ﺍﹾﻟﻤَﻮﺍ ِﻫﺐﹺ‬
‫ﺟَﺰﻳ ﹶ‬
You were forbearing, upright, ħalīmun rashīdun munīb,
always turning (to Allah), jawādun alīmun shadīd, ‫ﻢ‬
ٌ ‫ ﺟَﻮﺍ ٌﺩ ﻋَﻠﻴ‬،ٌ‫ﺪ ﻣُﻨﻴﺐ‬
ٌ ‫ﻢ ﺭَﺷﻴ‬
ٌ ‫ﺣَﻠﻴ‬
generous, knowledgeable,
strong, ،ٌ‫ﺷﹶﺪﻳﺪ‬
a martyred Imam, grieved, 'imāmun shahīd, 'awwāhun
repentant with earnest prayers munīb, ħabībun mahīb, ‫ﺐ‬
ٌ ‫ ﺣَﺒﻴ‬،ٌ‫ ﺃﻭّﺍ ٌﻩ ﻣُﻨﻴﺐ‬،ٌ‫ﺇﻣﺎ ٌﻡ ﺷﹶﻬﻴﺪ‬
(to Allah), dearly loved, and
awesome. ،ٌ‫ﻣَﻬﻴﺐ‬
You were to the Messenger, kunta lir-rasūli šallal-lāhu
peace be upon him and his alayhi wa ālihi waladā, ‫ﷲ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ِﻪ َﻭ ﺁِﻟ ِﻪ‬
‫ﻝ ﹶ‬
‫ﺖ ﻟِﻠ ﱠﺮﺳُﻮ ﹺ‬
‫ﹸﻛ ﹾﻨ ﹶ‬
family, a son,
،‫َﻭﻟﹶﺪﺍﹰ‬
for the Quran, an authority [a wa lil qur'āni sanadā
savior], [munqidhā], [‫ﺳﻨﹶﺪﹰﺍ ] ُﻣ ﹾﻨﻘِﺬﺍﹰ‬
َ ‫ﻥ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ِﻟ ﹾﻠ ﹸﻘﺮْﺀﺍ‬
and for the nation, a support. wa lil 'ummati ađhudā,
،‫ﻸ ﱠﻣ ِﺔ َﻋﻀﹸﺪﺍﹰ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ ِﻟ‬
You were diligent in wa fiţ-ţāati mujtahidā,
obedience,
،‫ﺠ ﹶﺘﻬﹺﺪﺍﹰ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻟﻄﹼﺎ َﻋ ِﺔ ُﻣ‬
a protector of the covenant and ħāfiđan lil ahdi wal mīthāq,
oath,
،‫ﺪ َﻭ ﺍﻟﹾﻤﻴﺜﺎﻕﹺ‬
ِ ‫ﺣﺎﻓِﻈ ﹰﺎ ِﻟ ﹾﻠ َﻌ ْﻬ‬
keeping away from the paths nākiban an subulil fussāq,
of the debauched,
،‫ﻞ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸﻔﺴّﺎﻕﹺ‬
‫ﺳ ُﺒ ﹺ‬
ُ ‫ﻦ‬
ْ ‫ﻧﺎﻛِﺒ ﹰﺎ َﻋ‬
sparing no effort (in fulfilling [wa] bādhilan lil majhūd,
the duties),
،ِ‫ﺠﻬُﻮﺩ‬
ْ ‫ﻻ ِﻟ ﹾﻠ َﻤ‬
‫]ﻭَ[ ﺑﺎ ِﺫ ﹰ‬
performing prolonged bowing ţawīlar-rukūi was-sujūd,
and prostrations,
،ِ‫ﺴﺠُﻮﺩ‬
‫ﻉ َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
‫ﻞ ﺍﻟ ﱡﺮﻛﹸﻮ ﹺ‬
‫ﻃﹶﻮﻳ ﹶ‬
abstaining from the world, like zāhidan fid-dunya zuhdar-rāħili
one who is departing from it, anhā, ،‫ﻞ َﻋﻨﹾﻬﺎ‬
‫ﺣ ﹺ‬
ِ ‫ﺪ ﺍﻟﺮّﺍ‬
َ ‫ﺪﻧﹾﻴﺎ ﹸﺯ ْﻫ‬
‫ﺯﺍﻫِﺪﹰﺍ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
looking upon it (the world) nāđiran 'ilayhā biaynil-
through the eyes of one mustawħishīna minhā, ‫ﻦ‬
َ ‫ﺴ ﹶﺘ ْﻮﺣِﺸﻴ‬
ْ ‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ‬
‫ﻧﺎﻇِﺮﹰﺍ ﺇﹶﻟﻴْﻬﺎ ﹺﺑ َﻌ ْﻴ ﹺ‬
estranged (from it).
،‫ِﻣﻨﹾﻬﺎ‬
Your desires from it (the āmāluka anhā makfūfah,
world) were abstentious,
،‫ﻜﻔﹸﻮ ﹶﻓﺔﹲ‬
‫ﻚ َﻋﻨﹾﻬﺎ َﻣ ﹾ‬
َ ‫ﺁﻣﺎﹸﻟ‬
your efforts were far-removed wa himmatuka an zīnatihā
from its embellishments, mašrūfah, ،‫ﺼﺮُﻭ ﹶﻓﺔﹲ‬
‫ﻦ ﺯﻳ ﹶﻨﺘِﻬﺎ َﻣ ﹾ‬
ْ ‫ﻚ َﻋ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ِﻫ ﱠﻤ ﹸﺘ‬
your glances removed from its wa 'alħāđuka an bahjatihā
joys, maţrūfah, ،‫ﻄﺮُﻭ ﹶﻓﺔﹲ‬
‫ﺠﺘِﻬﺎ َﻣ ﹾ‬
َ ‫ﻦ َﺑ ْﻬ‬
ْ ‫ﻚ َﻋ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﺃﻟﹾﺤﺎ ﹸﻇ‬
and your desire for the wa raghbatuka fil ākhirati
hereafter was well-known, marūfah, ،‫ﺧ َﺮ ِﺓ َﻣ ْﻌﺮُﻭ ﹶﻓﺔﹲ‬
ِ ‫ﻚ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻵ‬
َ ‫َﻭ َﺭ ﹾﻏ َﺒ ﹸﺘ‬
even when tyranny became ħattā 'idhal jowru madda bāah,

wide-spread,
،ُ‫ﺪ ﺑﺎ َﻋﻪ‬
‫ﺠ ْﻮ ُﺭ َﻣ ﱠ‬
َ ‫ﺣﺘﹼﻰ ﺇﺫﹶﺍ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
َ
injustice removed its veil, wa 'asfarađ-đulmu qināah,
،ُ‫ﻢ ﻗِﻨﺎ َﻋﻪ‬
ُ ‫ﻈ ﹾﻠ‬
‫ﺳ ﹶﻔ َﺮ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﺃ‬
wickedness called upon its wa daal ghayyu 'atbāah,
followers,
،ُ‫ﻲ ﺃﺗﹾﺒﺎ َﻋﻪ‬
‫َﻭ َﺩﻋَﺎ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻐ ﱡ‬
and you were residing in the wa 'anta fī ħarami jaddika
sanctuary of your grandfather, qāţin, ،ٌ‫ﻙ ﻗﺎ ِﻃﻦ‬
َ ‫ﺪ‬
‫ﺟﱢ‬َ ‫ﺣ َﺮ ﹺﻡ‬
َ ‫ﺖ ﻓﻲ‬
‫َﻭ ﺃﹾﻧ ﹶ‬
detached from the oppressors, wa liđ-đālimīna mubāyin,
،ٌ‫ﻦ ﻣُﺒﺎﹺﻳﻦ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﻟِﻠﻈﹼﺎﻟِﻤﻴ‬
sitting in the house and the jalīsul bayti wal miħrāb,
prayer niche,
،‫ﺖ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ ِﻤﺤْﺮﺍﺏﹺ‬
ِ ‫ﺲ ﺍﹾﻟ َﺒ ْﻴ‬
ُ ‫ﺟَﻠﻴ‬
unattached to (worldly) mutazilun anil-ladh-dhāti wash-
pleasures and carnal desires, shahawāt, ،ِ‫ﺸﻬَﻮﺍﺕ‬
‫ﺕ َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱠ‬
ِ ‫ﻦ ﺍﻟ ﱠﻠﺬﹼﺍ‬
‫ﻝ َﻋ ﹺ‬
‫ُﻣ ْﻌ ﹶﺘ ﹺﺰ ﹲ‬
and renouncing evil in your tunkirul munkara biqalbika wa
heart and on your tongue to the lisānik, alā ħasabi ţāqatika wa
‫ ﻋَﻠﻰ‬،َ‫ﻚ َﻭ ﻟِﺴﺎﹺﻧﻚ‬
َ ‫ﻜ َﺮ ﹺﺑ ﹶﻘ ﹾﻠ ﹺﺒ‬
‫ﻜ ُﺮ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ﹾﻨ ﹶ‬
ِ ‫ﹸﺗ ﹾﻨ‬
extent of your strength and 'imkānik,
ability. ،َ‫ﻚ َﻭ ﺇﻣْﻜﺎﹺﻧﻚ‬
َ ‫ﺐ ﻃﺎ ﹶﻗ ِﺘ‬
‫ﺴ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺣ‬

Then the knowledge demanded thummaqtađhākal ilmu lil
you for disavowal (of 'inkār, ،‫ﻺﻧﹾﻜﺎﺭﹺ‬
ْ ‫ﻢ ِﻟ‬
ُ ‫ﻙ ﺍﹾﻟ ِﻌ ﹾﻠ‬
َ ‫ﻢ ﺍ ﹾﻗﺘﹶﻀﺎ‬
‫ﹸﺛ ﱠ‬
falsehood),
and made it incumbent on you wa lazimika 'an tujāhidal fujjār,
to struggle against the deviant.
،َ‫ﺪ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸﻔﺠّﺎﺭ‬
َ ‫ﻥ ﺗﹸﺠﺎ ِﻫ‬
ْ ‫ﻚ ]ﺃﹾﻟ ﹶﺰ َﻣﻚَ[ ﺃ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﹶﻟ ﹺﺰ َﻣ‬
Therefore, you set out in fasirta fī 'awlādika wa 'ahālīk,
company of your children, wa shīatika wa mawālīk, ‫ َﻭ‬،َ‫ﻙ َﻭ ﺃﻫﺎﻟﻴﻚ‬
َ ‫ﺕ ﻓﻲ ﺃﻭْﻻ ِﺩ‬
‫ﺴ ْﺮ ﹶ‬
ِ ‫ﹶﻓ‬
kinsfolk, followers, and
supporters, ‫ﻚ‬
َ ‫ﻚ َﻭ ﻣَﻮﺍﻟﻴ‬
َ ‫ﺷﻴ َﻌ ِﺘ‬
disclosed the truth and clear wa šadata bil ħaqqi wal
proofs, bayyinah, ،ِ‫ﻖ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ َﺒ ﱢﻴ ﹶﻨﺔ‬
‫ﺤ ﱢ‬
َ ‫ﺖ ﺑﹺﺎﹾﻟ‬
‫ﺪ ْﻋ ﹶ‬
َ‫ﺻ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶ‬
summoned people towards wa daawta 'ilal-lāhi bil ħikmakti
Allah with wisdom and fine wal mawiđatil ħasanah, ‫ﻈ ِﺔ‬
‫ﻜ َﻤ ِﺔ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ْﻮ ِﻋ ﹶ‬
‫ﺤﹾ‬ِ ‫ﷲ ﺑﹺﺎﹾﻟ‬
ِ ‫ﺕ ﺇﻟﹶﻰ ﺍ‬
‫َﻭ َﺩ َﻋ ْﻮ ﹶ‬
exhortation,
،ِ‫ﺴ ﹶﻨﺔ‬
َ ‫ﺤ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹾﻟ‬
ordered the establishment of wa 'amarta bi'iqāmatil ħudūd,
the limits of divine law, and waţ-ţāati lil mabūd, ‫ َﻭ ﺍﻟﻄﹼﺎ َﻋ ِﺔ‬،ِ‫ﺤﺪُﻭﺩ‬
ُ ‫ﺕ ﺑﹺﺈﻗﺎ َﻣ ِﺔ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
‫َﻭ ﺃ َﻣ ْﺮ ﹶ‬
the obedience to the One Who
should be worshipped, ،ِ‫ِﻟ ﹾﻠ َﻤ ْﻌﺒُﻮﺩ‬
and forbade (people) from wa nahayta anil khabā'ithi waţ-
wickedness and oppression. ţughyān ،ِ‫ﻄﻐﹾﻴﺎﻥ‬
‫ﺚ َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
ِ ‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟﺨﹶﺒﺎِﺋ‬
‫ﺖ َﻋ ﹺ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶﻧ َﻬ ْﻴ ﹶ‬
But, they confronted you with wa wājahūka biđ-đulmi wal
injustice and aggression. udwān, ،ِ‫ﻢ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻌﺪْﻭﺍﻥ‬
‫ﻈ ﹾﻠ ﹺ‬
‫ﻙ ﺑﹺﺎﻟ ﱡ‬
َ ‫ﺟﻬُﻮ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﻭﺍ‬
Therefore, you resisted them fa jāhadtahum badal 'īāzi lahum

after advising them and [al-īādi 'ilayhim] wa ta'kīdil ‫ﻢ ]ﺍﻹﻳﻌﺎ ِﺩ‬
ْ ‫ﺪ ﺍﻹﻳﻌﺎ ﹺﺯ ﹶﻟ ُﻬ‬
َ ‫ﻢ َﺑ ْﻌ‬
ْ ‫ﺪﹶﺗ ُﻬ‬
ْ ‫ﻓﹶﺠﺎ َﻫ‬
stressing over (divine) proofs ħujjati alayhim,
against them. ،ْ‫ﺠ ِﺔ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ﹺﻬﻢ‬
‫ﺤﱠ‬
ُ ‫ﺪ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
ِ ‫ﺇﹶﻟ ْﻴ ﹺﻬﻢْ[ َﻭ ﹶﺗﺄﹾﻛﻴ‬
However, they violated your fanakathū dhimāmaka wa
(divine) rights and oath. bayatak, ،َ‫ﻚ َﻭ َﺑ ْﻴ َﻌ ﹶﺘﻚ‬
َ ‫ﻜﺜﹸﻮﺍ ﺫِﻣﺎ َﻣ‬
‫ﹶﻓ ﹶﻨ ﹶ‬
angered your Lord and your wa 'askhaţu rabbaka wa jaddak,
grandfather,
،َ‫ﺪﻙ‬
‫ﺟﱠ‬َ ‫ﻚ َﻭ‬
َ ‫ﺨﻄﹸﻮﺍ َﺭﱠﺑ‬
‫ﺳﹶ‬ْ ‫َﻭ ﺃ‬
and initiated battle against you. wa bada'ūka bil ħarb,
،‫ﺤ ْﺮﺏﹺ‬
َ ‫ﻙ ﺑﹺﺎﹾﻟ‬
َ ‫ﺪﺅُﻭ‬
َ ‫َﻭ َﺑ‬
Hence, you stood firm to spear fa thabatta liţ-ţani wađh-đharb,
and strike,
،‫ﻀ ْﺮﺏﹺ‬
‫ﻦ َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱠ‬
‫ﻄ ْﻌ ﹺ‬
‫ﺖ ﻟِﻠ ﱠ‬
‫ﹶﻓ ﹶﺜ َﺒ ﱠ‬
pulverized the soldiers of the wa ţaħanta junūdal fujjār,
transgressors, and stormed waqtaħamta qasţalal ghubār, ‫ﺖ‬
‫ﺤ ْﻤ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ َﻭ ﺍ ﹾﻗ ﹶﺘ‬،‫ﺟﻨﹸﻮ َﺩ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸﻔﺠّﺎﺭﹺ‬
ُ ‫ﺖ‬
‫ﺤ ﹾﻨ ﹶ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﹶﻃ‬
(courageously) into the dust of
the battle, ،‫ﻞ ﺍﹾﻟﻐﹸﺒﺎﺭﹺ‬
‫ﻄ ﹶ‬
‫ﺴﹶ‬ْ ‫ﹶﻗ‬
fighting with Thulfaqar[1] as if mujālidan bidhil faqār,
you were Ali, the chosen one. ka'annaka aliyunil mukhtār, ‫ﻲ‬
‫ﻚ َﻋ ِﻠ ﱞ‬
َ ‫ ﻛﹶﺄﱠﻧ‬،‫ﻣُﺠﺎﻟِﺪﹰﺍ ﹺﺑﺬِﻯ ﺍﹾﻟﻔﹶﻘﺎﺭﹺ‬
،ُ‫ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤﺨﹾﺘﺎﺭ‬

fearless, and courageous, jāsh, ghayra khā'ifin wa lā ‫ ﹶﻏ ْﻴ َﺮ‬،‫ﺖ ﺍﻟﹾﺠﺎﺵﹺ‬
‫ﻙ ﺛﺎﹺﺑ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﹶﻓ ﹶﻠﻤّﺎ ﺭَﺃ ْﻭ‬
khāsh,
،‫ﻒ َﻭ ﻻ ﺧﺎﺵﹴ‬
ٍ ‫ﺧﺎِﺋ‬
they set up their most našabū laka ghawā'ila
malicious deceptions against makrihim, wa qātaluka ‫ َﻭ‬،ْ‫ﻜ ﹺﺮ ِﻫﻢ‬
‫ﻞ َﻣ ﹾ‬
‫ﻚ ﻏﹶﻮﺍِﺋ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﺼﺒُﻮﺍ ﹶﻟ‬
‫ﹶﻧ ﹶ‬
you, and fought you with their bikaydihim wa sharrihim,
deceit and viciousness. ،ْ‫ﺷ ﱢﺮ ِﻫﻢ‬
‫ﻢ َﻭ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫ﺪ ِﻫ‬
ِ ‫ﻜ ْﻴ‬
‫ﻙ ﹺﺑ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﻗﺎﹶﺗﻠﹸﻮ‬
The accursed one (Umar Ibn wa 'amaral-laīnu junūdahu,
Sa’d) commanded his famanaūkal mā'a wa wurūdah, ‫ﻙ‬
َ ‫ ﹶﻓ َﻤ ﹶﻨﻌُﻮ‬،ُ‫ﺟﻨﹸﻮ َﺩﻩ‬
ُ ‫ﻦ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ ﺃ َﻣ َﺮ ﺍﻟﻠﱠﻌﻴ‬
soldiers, and thus, they
prevented you from reaching ،ُ‫ﺍﻟﹾﻤﺎ َﺀ َﻭ ُﻭﺭُﻭ َﺩﻩ‬
or receiving water.
They rushed to engage you in wa nājazūkal qitāl wa
combat, descended swiftly ājalūkan-nizāl, ‫ﻙ‬
َ ‫ﺟﻠﹸﻮ‬
َ ‫ َﻭ ﻋﺎ‬،‫ﻙ ﺍﹾﻟﻘِﺘﺎﻝﹶ‬
َ ‫ﺟﺰﹸﻭ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﻧﺎ‬
upon you,
،‫ﺍﻟﻨﱢﺰﺍﻝﹶ‬
showering you with arrows wa rashaqūka bis-sihāmi wan-
and stones, nibāl, ،‫ﻙ ﺑﹺﺎﻟﺴﱢﻬﺎ ﹺﻡ َﻭ ﺍﻟﻨﱢﺒﺎﻝﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺷﻘﹸﻮ‬
‫َﻭ َﺭ ﹶ‬
and moving towards you with wa basaţū 'ilayka 'akuffal
uprooting hands. išţilām, ،‫ﺻﻄِﻼﻡﹺ‬
‫ﻒ ﺍﻹ ﹾ‬
‫ﻚ ﺃ ﹸﻛ ﱠ‬
َ ‫ﺴﻄﹸﻮﺍ ﺇﹶﻟ ْﻴ‬
َ ‫َﻭ َﺑ‬
Neither they respected your wa lam yaraw laka dhimāmā,

rights, nor were they mindful wa lā rāqabū fīka 'athāmā, fī ‫ َﻭ ﻻ‬،‫ﻚ ﺫِﻣﺎﻣﺎﹰ‬
َ ‫ﻢ َﻳ ْﺮ َﻋﻮْﺍ ﹶﻟ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﹶﻟ‬
of retribution for slaying you qatlihim 'awliyā'ak, wa
and your companions, and nahbihim riħālak, ‫ﻢ‬
ْ ‫ ﻓﻲ ﹶﻗ ﹾﺘ ِﻠ ﹺﻬ‬،‫ﻚ ﺃﺛﺎﻣﺎﹰ‬
َ ‫ﺭﺍ ﹶﻗﺒُﻮﺍ ﻓﻴ‬
plundering your belongings.
،َ‫ﻢ ﺭﹺﺣﺎﹶﻟﻚ‬
ْ ‫ َﻭ ﹶﻧ ْﻬ ﹺﺒ ﹺﻬ‬،َ‫ﺃ ْﻭﻟِﻴﺎ َﺀﻙ‬
You were in the front line of wa 'anta muqqaddamun fil
the storm (of battle), enduring habawāt, wa muħtamilun lil ‫ َﻭ‬،ِ‫ﺪ ٌﻡ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻬﺒَﻮﺍﺕ‬
‫ﺖ ُﻣ ﹶﻘ ﱠ‬
afflictions. adhiyyāt,
،ِ‫ﻞ ﻟِﻸ ِﺫﻳّﺎﺕ‬
‫ﺤ ﹶﺘ ِﻤ ﹲ‬
ْ ‫ُﻣ‬
Indeed, the angels of the qad ajibat min šabrika
heavens were astonished by malā'ikatus-samawāt, ‫ﻜ ﹸﺔ‬
‫ﻙ ﻣَﻼِﺋ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﺻ ْﺒ ﹺﺮ‬
‫ﻦ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫ﺖ ِﻣ‬
‫ﺠ َﺒ ﹾ‬
‫ﺪ َﻋ ﹺ‬
ْ ‫ﹶﻗ‬
your patience.
،ِ‫ﺍﻟﺴﱠﻤﺎﻭﺍﺕ‬
The enemy then surrounded fa 'aħdaqū bika min kullil
you from all sides, jihāt, ،ِ‫ﻞ ﺍﹾﻟﺠﹺﻬﺎﺕ‬
‫ﻦ ﹸﻛ ﱢ‬
ْ ‫ﻚ ِﻣ‬
َ ‫ﺪﻗﹸﻮﺍ ﹺﺑ‬
َ‫ﺣ‬
ْ ‫ﻓﹶﺄ‬
weakened you by inflicting wa 'ath-khanūka bil jirāħ,
wounds,

prevented you from taking wa ħālū baynaka wa baynar-
any repose, rawāħ, ،‫ﻦ ﺍﻟﺮﱠﻭﺍﺡﹺ‬
َ ‫ﻚ َﻭ َﺑ ْﻴ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﺣﺎﻟﹸﻮﺍ َﺑ ْﻴ ﹶﻨ‬
and you had no helper wa lam yabqa laka nāšir,
remaining.
،ٌ‫ﺻﺮ‬
ِ ‫ﻚ ﻧﺎ‬
َ ‫ﻖ ﹶﻟ‬
َ ‫ﻢ َﻳ ْﺒ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﹶﻟ‬
You were bereaved yet wa 'anta muħtasibun šābir,
patient,
،ٌ‫ﺐ ﺻﺎﹺﺑﺮ‬
ٌ ‫ﺴ‬
ِ ‫ﺤ ﹶﺘ‬
ْ ‫ﺖ ُﻣ‬
defending your women and tadhubbu an niswatika wa
children, 'awlādik, ،َ‫ﻚ َﻭ ﺃﻭْﻻ ِﺩﻙ‬
َ ‫ﺴ َﻮِﺗ‬
ْ ‫ﻦ ﹺﻧ‬
ْ ‫ﺏ َﻋ‬
‫ﺬ ﱡ‬
‫ﹶﺗ ﹸ‬
until they caused you to fall ħattā nakasūka an jawādik,
from your horse.
،َ‫ﻦ ﺟَﻮﺍ ِﺩﻙ‬
ْ ‫ﻙ َﻋ‬
َ ‫ﻜﺴُﻮ‬
‫ﺣﺘﹼﻰ ﹶﻧ ﹶ‬
َ
You fell to the ground, fa hawayta 'ilal 'arđhi jarīħā,
wounded,
،‫ﺽ ﺟَﺮﻳﺤﺎﹰ‬
‫ﺖ ﺇﻟﹶﻰ ﺍﻷ ْﺭ ﹺ‬
‫ﹶﻓ َﻬ َﻮْﻳ ﹶ‬
horses trampled you with their taţa'ukal khuyūlu
hooves, biħawāfirihā, ،‫ﻝ ﹺﺑﺤَﻮﺍ ِﻓﺮﹺﻫﺎ‬
‫ﺨﻴُﻮ ﹸ‬
‫ﻙ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸ‬
َ ‫ﻄ ُﺆ‬
‫ﹶﺗ ﹶ‬
tyrants raised their swords wa talūkaţ-ţughātu
against you, bibawātirihā, ،‫ﻙ ﺍﻟﻄﱡﻐﺎ ﹸﺓ ﹺﺑﺒَﻮﺍِﺗﺮﹺﻫﺎ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﹶﺗ ْﻌﻠﹸﻮ‬
the sweat of death appeared qad rashaħa lil mawti jabīnuk,
on your forehead,
،َ‫ﺕ ﺟَﺒﻴ ﹸﻨﻚ‬
ِ ‫ﺢ ِﻟ ﹾﻠ َﻤ ْﻮ‬
َ ‫ﺷ‬
‫ﺪ َﺭ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫ﹶﻗ‬
and you continually clenched wakhtalafat bil inqibāđhi wal
and unclenched your hands, inbisāţi shimāluka wa ‫ﺽ َﻭ‬
‫ﻻﹾﻧﻘِﺒﺎ ﹺ‬
ِ ‫ﺖ ﺑﹺﺎ‬
‫ﺧ ﹶﺘ ﹶﻠ ﹶﻔ ﹾ‬
‫َﻭ ﺍ ﹾ‬
yamīnuk,
،َ‫ﻚ َﻭ ﻳَﻤﻴ ﹸﻨﻚ‬
َ ‫ﻁ ﺷِﻤﺎﹸﻟ‬
ِ ‫ﺍﻹﹾﻧﺒﹺﺴﺎ‬
secretly gazing upon your tudīru ţarfan khafiyyan 'ilā
caravan and tents, raħlika wa baytik, ‫ﻚ َﻭ‬
َ ‫ﺣ ِﻠ‬
ْ ‫ﺧ ِﻔ ّﻴ ﹰﺎ ﺇﻟﻰ َﺭ‬
‫ﺗﹸﺪﻳ ُﺮ ﹶﻃﺮْﻓ ﹰﺎ ﹶ‬
،َ‫َﺑ ْﻴ ِﺘﻚ‬
while trapped by yourself wa qad shughilta binafsika an

ْ ‫ﻚ َﻋ‬

ِ ‫ﺖ ﹺﺑ ﹶﻨ ﹾﻔ‬

(At that time,) your horse wa 'asraa farasuka shāridan, 'ilā
distractedly galloped khiyāmika qāšidan, muħamħiman ‫ﻚ‬
َ ‫ ﺇﻟﻰ ﺧِﻴﺎ ِﻣ‬،‫ﻚ ﺷﺎﺭﹺﺩﺍﹰ‬
َ ‫ﺳ‬
ُ ‫ﻉ ﹶﻓ َﺮ‬
َ ‫ﺳ َﺮ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﺃ‬
towards your camp, bākiyā,
neighing and crying. ،‫ﺤ ْﻤﺤِﻤ ﹰﺎ ﺑﺎﻛِﻴﺎﹰ‬
َ ‫ ُﻣ‬،‫ﻗﺎﺻِﺪﺍﹰ‬
When the women saw your falammā ra'aynan-nisā'u
horse distraught, jawādaka makhziyyā, ،‫ﺨ ﹺﺰّﻳﺎﹰ‬
‫ﻙ َﻣ ﹾ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ﺍﻟﻨﱢﺴﺎ ُﺀ ﺟَﻮﺍ َﺩ‬
َ ‫ﹶﻓ ﹶﻠﻤّﺎ ﺭَﺃْﻳ‬
and observed your saddle wa nađarna sarjaka alayhi
contorted, malwiyyā, ،‫ﻚ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ِﻪ َﻣ ﹾﻠ ﹺﻮّﻳﺎﹰ‬
َ ‫ﺟ‬
َ ‫ﺳ ْﺮ‬
َ ‫ﻥ‬
َ ‫ﻈ ْﺮ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶﻧ ﹶ‬
they came from the tents, barazna minal khudūr,
،‫ﺨﺪُﻭﺭﹺ‬
‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸ‬
َ ‫ﻥ ِﻣ‬
َ ‫َﺑ َﺮ ﹾﺯ‬
disheveling their hair, nāshirātish-shuūr,
،‫ﺸﻌُﻮﺭﹺ‬
‫ﺕ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
ِ ‫ﻧﺎﺷِﺮﺍ‬
striking their now unveiled alal khudūdi lāţimātil wujūhi
cheeks, sāfirāt, ،ٍ‫ﺕ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻮﺟُﻮ ِﻩ ﺳﺎﻓِﺮﺍﺕ‬
ِ ‫ﺨﺪُﻭ ِﺩ ﻻﻃِﻤﺎ‬
‫َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸ‬
calling you by lamenting wa bil awīli dāiyāt,
and wailing,
،ٍ‫ﻞ ﺩﺍﻋِﻴﺎﺕ‬
‫َﻭ ﺑﹺﺎﹾﻟﻌَﻮﻳ ﹺ‬
being humiliated after being wa badal izzi mudhallalāt,
honored,
،ِ‫ﺬﻟﱠﻼﺕ‬
‫ﺪ ﺍﹾﻟ ِﻌ ﱢﺰ ُﻣ ﹶ‬
َ ‫َﻭ َﺑ ْﻌ‬
hastening to where you lay wa 'ilā mašraika mubādirāt,
wounded.
،ٍ‫ﻚ ﻣُﺒﺎﺩِﺭﺍﺕ‬
َ ‫ﺼ َﺮ ِﻋ‬
‫َﻭ ﺇﻟﻰ َﻣ ﹾ‬
At that time Shimr (L) was wash-shimru jālisun alā šadrik,
sitting on your chest,
،َ‫ﺪ ﹺﺭﻙ‬
ْ‫ﺻ‬
‫ﺲ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹶ‬
ٌ ‫ﺸ ْﻤ ُﺮ ﺟﺎِﻟ‬
‫َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱢ‬
quenching his sword with mūlighon sayfahu alā naħrik,
(the blood of) your throat,
،َ‫ﺤ ﹺﺮﻙ‬
ْ ‫ﺳ ْﻴ ﹶﻔ ُﻪ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹶﻧ‬
َ ‫ﻎ‬
‫َﻭ ﻣُﻮِﻟ ﹲ‬
grabbing your beard with qābiđhun alā shaybatika biyadih,
his hand,
،ِ‫ﺪﻩ‬
ِ ‫ﻚ ﹺﺑ َﻴ‬
َ ‫ﺷ ْﻴ َﺒ ِﺘ‬
‫ﺾ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹶ‬
‫ﻗﺎﹺﺑ ﹲ‬
as he slew you with his dhābiħun laka bimuhannadih,
sword.
،ِ‫ﺪﻩ‬
ِ ‫ﻚ ﹺﺑ ُﻤ َﻬ ﱠﻨ‬
َ ‫ﺢ ﹶﻟ‬
ٌ ‫ﺫﺍﹺﺑ‬
Your faculties faded, qad sakanat ħawāsuka,
،َ‫ﺳﻚ‬
‫ﺖ ﺣَﻮﺍ ﱡ‬
‫ﻜ ﹶﻨ ﹾ‬
‫ﺳﹶ‬َ ‫ﺪ‬
ْ ‫ﹶﻗ‬
your breath became shallow wa khafiyat 'anfāsuka,
and ceased,
،َ‫ﺳﻚ‬
ُ ‫ﺖ ﺃﻧﹾﻔﺎ‬
‫ﺧ ِﻔ َﻴ ﹾ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶ‬
and your head was raised wa rufia alal qanāti ra'suka,
onto a spear.
،َ‫ﺳﻚ‬
ُ ‫ﻊ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟﻘﹶﻨﺎ ِﺓ َﺭﹾﺃ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ُﺭ ِﻓ‬
Your family were captured wa subiya 'ahluka kal abīd,
like slaves,
،ِ‫ﻚ ﻛﹶﺎﹾﻟﻌَﺒﻴﺪ‬
َ ‫ﻲ ﺃ ْﻫ ﹸﻠ‬
َ ‫ﺳ ﹺﺒ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ‬
bound with iron chains atop wa šuffidū fil ħadīdi fawqa

camels, 'aqtābil maţiyyāt, ‫ﺏ‬
‫ﻕ ﺃﻗﹾﺘﺎ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺪ ﹶﻓ ْﻮ‬
ِ ‫ﺻ ﱢﻔﺪُﻭﺍ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟﺤَﺪﻳ‬
‫َﻭ ﹸ‬
،ِ‫ﻄﻴّﺎﺕ‬
ِ ‫ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ‬
with midday heat scorching talfaħu wujūhahum ħarrul
their faces. hājirāt, ،ِ‫ﺣ ﱡﺮ ﺍﻟﹾﻬﺎﺟﹺﺮﺍﺕ‬
َ ‫ﻢ‬
ْ ‫ﺢ ُﻭﺟُﻮ َﻫ ُﻬ‬
ُ ‫ﹶﺗ ﹾﻠ ﹶﻔ‬
They were driven across yusāqūna fil barārī wal falawāt,
deserts and wastelands,
،ِ‫ﻥ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟﺒَﺮﺍﺭﻱ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻔﻠﹶﻮﺍﺕ‬
َ ‫ﻳُﺴﺎﻗﹸﻮ‬
with their hands chained to 'aydīhim maghlūlatun 'ilal 'anāq,
their necks,
،‫ﻢ ﻣَﻐﻠﹸﻮﹶﻟ ﹲﺔ ﺇﻟﹶﻰ ﺍﻷﻋْﻨﺎﻕﹺ‬
ْ ‫ﺃﻳْﺪﻳ ﹺﻬ‬
and were paraded around yuţāfu bihim fil 'aswāq,
the markets.
،‫ﻢ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻷﺳْﻮﺍﻕﹺ‬
ْ ‫ﻑ ﹺﺑ ﹺﻬ‬
ُ ‫ﻳُﻄﺎ‬
Woe be unto the wicked fal waylu lil ušātil fussāq,
transgressors!
،‫ﻞ ِﻟ ﹾﻠﻌُﺼﺎ ِﺓ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸﻔﺴّﺎﻕﹺ‬
‫ﻓﹶﺎﹾﻟ َﻮْﻳ ﹸ‬
Certainly, by killing you, laqad qatalū biqatlikal islām,
they have killed Islam,[1]
،َ‫ﻚ ﺍﻹﺳْﻼﻡ‬
َ ‫ﺪ ﹶﻗ ﹶﺘﻠﹸﻮﺍ ﹺﺑ ﹶﻘ ﹾﺘ ِﻠ‬
ْ ‫ﹶﻟ ﹶﻘ‬
disrupted (the truth of) wa aţţaluš-šalāta waš-šiyām,
prayer and fasting,
،َ‫ﻄﻠﹸﻮﺍ ﺍﻟﺼﱠﻠﻮ ﹶﺓ َﻭ ﺍﻟﺼﱢﻴﺎﻡ‬
‫َﻭ َﻋ ﱠ‬
revoked the (prophetic) wa naqađhus-sunana wal 'aħkām,
customs and the (divine)
،َ‫ﻦ َﻭ ﺍﻷﺣْﻜﺎﻡ‬
َ ‫ﺴ ﹶﻨ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶﻧ ﹶﻘﻀﹸﻮﺍ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
laws,
destroyed the pillars of wa hadamū qawāidal 'īmān,
faith,
،ِ‫ﺪ ﺍﻹﻳﻤﺎﻥ‬
َ ‫ﺪﻣُﻮﺍ ﻗﹶﻮﺍ ِﻋ‬
َ ‫َﻭ َﻫ‬
distorted the verses of the wa ħarrafū āyātil qur'ān,
Quran,
،ِ‫ﺕ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸﻘﺮْﺁﻥ‬
ِ ‫ﺣ ﱠﺮﻓﹸﻮﺍ ﺁﻳﺎ‬
َ ‫َﻭ‬
and brutally rushed into wa hamlajū fil baghyi wal udwān,
tyranny and aggression.
،ِ‫ﻲ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻌﺪْﻭﺍﻥ‬
‫َﻭ َﻫ ْﻤ ﹶﻠﺠُﻮﺍ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟ َﺒ ﹾﻐ ﹺ‬
[1] It refers to the fact that the reality of religion is manifested in Imam (PBUH), and thus, if he is
put down, Islam has been put down. He is also the maintainer of religion and its authority,
and by abandoning him, Islam is abandoned. The phrases that immediately follow confirm
this point as well.
Part 11
Certainly, (by this event,) the laqad 'ašbaħa rasūlul-lāhi
Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HF)was šallal-lāhu alayhi wa ālihi ‫ﷲ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ِﻪ َﻭ‬
‫ﷲ ﹶ‬
ِ ‫ﻝﺍ‬
‫ﺢ َﺭﺳُﻮ ﹸ‬
َ ‫ﺻ َﺒ‬
‫ﺪﺃ ﹾ‬
ْ ‫ﹶﻟ ﹶﻘ‬
wronged, left alone, and denied mawtūrā,
vengeance, ،‫ﺁِﻟ ِﻪ َﻣ ْﻮﺗﹸﻮﺭﺍﹰ‬
the Book of Allah, the mighty and wa āda kitābul-lāhi azza
the majestic, was again wa jalla mahjūrā, ،‫ﻞ َﻣ ْﻬﺠُﻮﺭﺍﹰ‬
‫ﺟ ﱠ‬
َ ‫ﷲ َﻋ ﱠﺰ َﻭ‬
ِ ‫ﺏﺍ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ ﻋﺎ َﺩ ﻛِﺘﺎ‬
abandoned,
truth was betrayed when you were wa ghūdiral ħaqqu 'idh
forcibly overcome, quhirta maqhūrā, ،‫ﺕ َﻣ ﹾﻘﻬُﻮﺭﺍﹰ‬
‫ﻖ ﺇ ﹾﺫ ﹸﻗ ﹺﻬ ْﺮ ﹶ‬
‫ﺤ ﱡ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﻏﹸﻮ ِﺩ َﺭ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
And with your loss, call for wa fuqida bi faqdikat-

Allah’s glorification and His takbīru wat-tahlīl, ،‫ﻙ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺘﻜﹾﺒﻴ ُﺮ َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺘﻬْﻠﻴﻞﹸ‬
َ ‫ﺪ‬
ِ ‫ﺪ ﹺﺑ ﹶﻔ ﹾﻘ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﹸﻓ ِﻘ‬
Unity,
His prohibitions, sanctions, wat-taħrīmu wat-taħlīl,
revelation, and interpretation were wat-tanzīlu wat-ta'wīl, ‫ﻞ َﻭ‬
‫ َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺘﻨﹾﺰﻳ ﹸ‬،‫ﻢ َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺘﺤْﻠﻴﻞﹸ‬
ُ ‫ﻭَﺍﻟ ﱠﺘﺤْﺮﻳ‬
lost.
،‫ﺍﻟ ﱠﺘﺄﹾﻭﻳﻞﹸ‬
After you, alteration, distortion, wa đahara badakat-
infidelity, abandonment (of the taghyīru wat-tabdīl, wal ‫ َﻭ‬،‫ﻙ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺘﻐﹾﻴﻴ ُﺮ َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺘﺒْﺪﻳﻞﹸ‬
َ ‫ﺪ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﹶﻇ َﻬ َﺮ َﺑ ْﻌ‬
Islamic laws), vagary, 'ilħādu wat-taţīl, wal
misguidance, turmoil and 'ahwā'u wal 'ađhālīl, wal ‫ َﻭ ﺍﻷﻫْﻮﺍ ُﺀ َﻭ‬،‫ﺍﻹﻟﹾﺤﺎ ُﺩ َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺘﻌْﻄﻴﻞﹸ‬
falsehood became prevalent. fitanu wal 'abāţīl,
،‫ﻦ َﻭ ﺍﻷﺑﺎﻃﻴﻞﹸ‬
ُ ‫ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ ِﻔ ﹶﺘ‬،‫ﺍﻷﺿﺎﻟﻴﻞﹸ‬
The announcer of your martyrdom faqāma nāīka inda qabri
came near the grave of your jaddikar-rasūli, šallal-lāhu ‫ﻝ‬
‫ﻙ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺮﺳُﻮ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺪ‬
‫ﺟﱢ‬
َ ‫ﺪ ﹶﻗ ْﺒ ﹺﺮ‬
َ ‫ﻚ ِﻋ ﹾﻨ‬
َ ‫ﻓﹶﻘﺎ َﻡ ﻧﺎﻋﻴ‬
grandfather, the layhi wa ālih,
Messenger (PBUH&HF), ،ِ‫ﷲ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ِﻪ َﻭ ﺁِﻟﻪ‬
‫ﹶ‬
gave the news to him with tears fanaāka 'ilayhi biddamil
flowing, saying: haţūli, qā'ilan: :‫ ﻗﺎﺋِﻼ‬،‫ﻊ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻬﻄﹸﻮﻝﹺ‬
‫ﺪ ْﻣ ﹺ‬
‫ﻙ ﺇﹶﻟ ْﻴ ِﻪ ﺑﹺﺎﻟ ﱠ‬
َ ‫ﹶﻓﻨﹶﻌﺎ‬
0 the Messenger of Allah! Your ya rasūlal-lāh, qutila
brave grandson was slain, sibţuka wa fatāk, ،َ‫ﻚ َﻭ ﻓﹶﺘﺎﻙ‬
َ ‫ﻄ‬
‫ﺳ ْﺒ ﹸ‬
ِ ‫ﻞ‬
‫ ﹸﻗ ِﺘ ﹶ‬،ِ‫ﻝ ﺍﷲ‬
‫ﻳﺎ َﺭﺳُﻮ ﹶ‬
and abuse of your family and was-tubīħa 'ahluka wa
supporters were deemed lawful. ħimāk, ،َ‫ﻚ َﻭ ﺣِﻤﺎﻙ‬
َ ‫ﺢ ﺃ ْﻫ ﹸﻠ‬
َ ‫ﺳﺘﹸﺒﻴ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﺍ‬
After you, your progeny were wa subiyat badaka
captured, dharārīk, ،َ‫ﻙ ﺫﹶﺭﺍﺭﻳﻚ‬
َ ‫ﺪ‬
َ ‫ﺖ َﺑ ْﻌ‬
‫ﺳ ﹺﺒ َﻴ ﹾ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ‬
and adversity befell your family wa waqaal maħdhūru
and your offspring. biitratika wa dhawīk, ،َ‫ﻚ َﻭ ﺫﹶﻭﻳﻚ‬
َ ‫ﺤﺬﹸﻭ ُﺭ ﹺﺑ ِﻌ ﹾﺘ َﺮِﺗ‬
ْ ‫ﻊ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ‬
َ ‫َﻭ َﻭ ﹶﻗ‬
Indeed, the fanzaajar-rasūl, wa bakā
Messenger (PBUH&HF) became qalbuhul mahūl, ،‫ َﻭ ﺑَﻜﻰ ﹶﻗ ﹾﻠ ُﺒ ُﻪ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤﻬُﻮﻝﹸ‬،‫ﺞ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺮﺳُﻮﻝﹸ‬
َ ‫ﻓﹶﺎﹾﻧ ﹶﺰ َﻋ‬
distressed and his depressed heart
wept,
The Angels and the prophets wa azzāhu bikal malā'ikatu
offered their condolences to him wal 'anbiyā', ،ُ‫ﻜ ﹸﺔ َﻭ ﺍﻷﹾﻧﺒﹺﻴﺎﺀ‬
‫ﻚ ﺍﹾﻟﻤَﻼِﺋ ﹶ‬
َ ‫َﻭ َﻋﺰﹼﺍ ُﻩ ﹺﺑ‬
for your martyrdom,
Your mother, al-Zahra, became wa fujiat bika ummukaz-
distressed and bereft of you, zahrā', ،ُ‫ﻚ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺰﻫْﺮﺍﺀ‬
َ ‫ﻚ ﹸﺍ ﱡﻣ‬
َ ‫ﺖ ﹺﺑ‬
‫ﺠ َﻌ ﹾ‬
‫َﻭ ﹸﻓ ﹺ‬
Legions of favored Angels came wakhtalafat junūdul
in waves to offer their condolences malā'ikatil muqarrabīn, ،َ‫ﻜ ِﺔ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ﹶﻘﺮﱠﺑﻴﻦ‬
‫ﺟﻨﹸﻮ ُﺩ ﺍﹾﻟﻤَﻼِﺋ ﹶ‬
ُ ‫ﺖ‬
‫ﺧ ﹶﺘ ﹶﻠ ﹶﻔ ﹾ‬
‫َﻭ ﺍ ﹾ‬
to your father, the Leader of the tuazzī 'abāka 'amīral
Faithful, mu'minīn, ،َ‫ﻙ ﺃﻣﻴﺮَﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ْﺆﻣِﻨﻴﻦ‬
َ ‫ﹸﺗ َﻌﺰﹼﻱ ﺃﺑﺎ‬
Mourning commemorations were wa 'uqīmat lakal ma'ātimu
held for you in the utmost exalted fī 'alā illiyyīn, ،َ‫ﻢ ﻓﻲ ﺃﻋْﻼ ِﻋ ﱢﻠﻴّﻴﻦ‬
ُ ‫ﻚ ﺍﹾﻟﻤَﺂِﺗ‬
َ ‫ﺖ ﹶﻟ‬
‫َﻭ ﺍﹸﻗﻴ َﻤ ﹾ‬
place Heaven,
and the dark-eyed Maidens wa laţamat alaykal ħūrul
(of Paradise) hit their own heads īn, ،ُ‫ﻚ ﺍﹾﻟﺤُﻮ ُﺭ ﺍﻟﹾﻌﻴﻦ‬
َ ‫ﺖ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ‬
‫ﻄ َﻤ ﹾ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶﻟ ﹶ‬
and faces in grief,
The skies and their inhabitants wa bakatis-samā'u wa

wept, sukkānuhā, ،‫ﺳﻜﹼﺎﻧﹸﻬﺎ‬
ُ ‫ﺖ ﺍﻟﺴﱠﻤﺎ ُﺀ َﻭ‬
ِ ‫ﻜ‬
‫َﻭ َﺑ ﹶ‬
as did Paradise and its keepers, wal jinānu wa khuzzānuhā,
،‫ﺧﺰﹼﺍﻧﹸﻬﺎ‬
‫ﻥ َﻭ ﹸ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟﺠﹺﻨﺎ‬
the mountains and their wal hiđhābu wa 'aqţāruhā,
surroundings,
،‫ﺏ َﻭ ﺃﻗﹾﻄﺎﺭُﻫﺎ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟﻬﹺﻀﺎ‬
the oceans and their fishes, wal biħāru wa ħītānuhā,
،‫َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟﺒﹺﺤﺎ ُﺭ َﻭ ﺣﻴﺘﺎﻧﹸﻬﺎ‬
the heavens and their servants, wal jinānu wa wildānuhā,
،‫ﻥ َﻭ ﹺﻭﻟﹾﺪﺍﻧﹸﻬﺎ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟﺠﹺﻨﺎ‬
the House (Ka’ba), and the Station wal baytu wal maqām,
(of Abraham),
،ُ‫ﺖ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟﻤَﻘﺎﻡ‬
‫َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ َﺒ ْﻴ ﹸ‬
the Sacred Monument, wal masharul ħarām,
،ُ‫ﺸ َﻌ ُﺮ ﺍﹾﻟﺤَﺮﺍﻡ‬
‫َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ﹾ‬
and Mecca and its sanctuary. wal ħillu wal iħrām,
،ُ‫ﺣﻺﺣْﺮﺍﻡ‬
ْ ‫ﻞ َﻭ ﺍﻹ‬
‫ﺤ ﱡ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
Part 12
O Allah! By the sanctity of this allāhumma fabiħurmati
exalted place (the tomb of hadhal makānil munīf, ،ِ‫ﻥ ﺍﹾﻟﻤُﻨﻴﻒ‬
ِ ‫ﺤ ْﺮ َﻣ ِﺔ ﻫﺬﹶﺍ ﺍﹾﻟﻤَﻜﺎ‬
ُ ‫ﻢ ﹶﻓ ﹺﺒ‬
‫ﺍﹶﻟ ﹼﻠ ُﻬ ﱠ‬
Imam al-Husain (PBUH)),
bestow blessings upon šalli alā muħammadin wa āli
Muhammad and the family of muħammad, ،ٍ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤﺪ‬
َ ‫ﻝ ُﻣ‬
‫ﺪ َﻭ ﺁ ﹺ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻞ ﻋَﻠﻰ ُﻣ‬
‫ﺻ ﱢ‬
‫ﹶ‬
Muhammad,
assemble me in their company, waħshurnī fī zumratihim,
،ْ‫ﺸﺮْﻧﻲ ﻓﻲ ﹸﺯ ْﻣ َﺮِﺗ ﹺﻬﻢ‬
‫ﺣ ﹸ‬
ْ ‫ﻭَﺍ‬
and admit me to Paradise by wa 'adkhilnil jannata bi
their intercession. shafāatihim, ،ْ‫ﺠ ﱠﻨ ﹶﺔ ﹺﺑﺸﹶﻔﺎ َﻋ ِﺘ ﹺﻬﻢ‬
َ ‫ﺧ ﹾﻠﻨﹺﻲ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ﺃ ْﺩ‬
My Allah! I implore You, O allāhumma 'innī 'atawassalu
He who is the quickest of the 'ilayka yā 'asraal ħāsibīn, ‫ﻉ‬
َ ‫ﺳ َﺮ‬
ْ ‫ﻚ ﻳﺎ ﺃ‬
َ ‫ﻞ ﺇﹶﻟ ْﻴ‬
‫ﺳ ﹸ‬
‫ﻢ ﺇﻧﹼﻲ ﺃﹶﺗ َﻮ ﱠ‬
reckoners!
،َ‫ﺍﻟﹾﺤﺎﺳِﺒﻴﻦ‬
O the most generous of the wa yā 'akramal 'akramīn, wa
generous and the wisest of yā 'aħkamal ħākimīn, ‫ﻢ‬
َ‫ﻜ‬
‫ﺣﹶ‬ْ ‫ َﻭ ﻳﺎﺃ‬،َ‫َﻭ ﻳﺎﺃ ﹾﻛ َﺮ َﻡ ﺍﻷ ﹾﻛﺮَﻣﻴﻦ‬

،َ‫ﺍﻟﹾﺤﺎﻛِﻤﻴﻦ‬
By Muhammad, the seal of the bi muħammadin khātamin-
prophets, Your Messenger to nabiyyīn, rasūlika 'ilal ‫ﻚ ﺇﻟﹶﻰ‬
َ ‫ َﺭﺳُﻮِﻟ‬،َ‫ﻢ ﺍﻟ ﱠﻨ ﹺﺒﻴّﻴﻦ‬
‫ﺪ ﺧﺎﹶﺗ ﹺ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
َ ‫ﹺﺑ ُﻤ‬
all the worlds, ālamīna 'ajmaīn,
،َ‫ﺟﻤَﻌﻴﻦ‬
ْ ‫ﻦﺃ‬
َ ‫ﺍﻟﹾﻌﺎﻟﹶﻤﻴ‬
By his brother and cousin, the wa bi 'akhīhi wabni ammihil
uprooter of hidden polytheism, 'anzail baţīn, al-ālimil makīn,
،‫ﻉ ﺍﹾﻟﺒَﻄﻴﻦﹺ‬
‫ﻦ َﻋ ﱢﻤ ِﻪ ﺍﻷﹾﻧ ﹶﺰ ﹺ‬
‫َﻭ ﺑﹺﺄﺧﻴ ِﻪ َﻭ ﺍْﺑ ﹺ‬
the distinguished and learned, aliyyin 'amīril mu'minīn,

‫ﺠ ِﺔ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶ‬
‫ﺤﱠ‬ُ ‫ﻭَﺍﹾﻟ‬
Bless Muhammad and the 'an tušalliya alā muħammadin
family of Muhammad, wa āli muħammad, ،ٍ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤﺪ‬
َ ‫ﻝ ُﻣ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻲ ﻋَﻠﻰ ُﻣ‬
َ ‫ﺼ ﱢﻠ‬
‫ﻥ ﹸﺗ ﹶ‬
ْ‫ﺃ‬
the most truthful and devoted aš-šādiqīnal 'abarrīn, āli ţāhā
ones (who are) the family wa yāsīn, ،‫ﻝ ﻃﻪ َﻭ ﻳﺲ‬
‫ ﺁ ﹺ‬،َ‫ﻦ ﺍﻷَﺑﺮّﻳﻦ‬
َ ‫ﺍﻟﺼﹼﺎﺩِﻗﻴ‬
ofTaha and Yasin,[1]
and place me on the Day of wa 'an tajalani fil qiyāmati
Judgment among those who minal āminīnal muţma'innīn, ‫ﻦ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ﺍﻵﻣِﻨﻴ‬
َ ‫ﺠ َﻌﻠﹶﻨﻲ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟﻘِﻴﺎ َﻣ ِﺔ ِﻣ‬
ْ ‫ﻥ ﹶﺗ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﺃ‬
are safe, confident,
،َ‫ﻄ َﻤ ِﺌﻨﹼﻴﻦ‬
‫ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ﹾ‬
triumphant, happy, and al-fā'izīnal fariħīnal
felicitous. mustabshirīn, ،َ‫ﺴ ﹶﺘ ْﺒﺸِﺮﻳﻦ‬
ْ ‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻔﺮﹺﺣﻴ‬
َ ‫ﺍﻟﹾﻔﺎﺋِﺰﻳ‬

11) Taha and Yasin are two of mystical names for the Prophet Muhammad(PBUH&HF) by which
Allah addressed him in the first verses of Chapters 20 and 6 of the holy Quran. Moreover,
according to the mentioned traditions, Aale Taha and Aale Yasin refer to the family of
Muhammad (PBUH&HF). The latter term was originally mentioned in Chapter 7, Verse 10 of the
Quran, referring to Ahl al-Bait (PBUT).
Part 13
O Allah! Destine me to be allāhummaktubnī fil muslimīn,
amongst the submitters,
،َ‫ﺴﻠِﻤﻴﻦ‬
ْ ‫ﻢ ﺍ ﹾﻛ ﹸﺘﺒْﻨﻲ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ‬
Join me with the wa 'al-ħiqnī biš-šālihīn,
righteous,[1]
،َ‫ﺤﻘﹾﻨﻲ ﺑﹺﺎﻟﺼﹼﺎﻟِﺤﻴﻦ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ﺃﹾﻟ‬
Ordain for me (offspring wajal lī lisāna šidqin fil ākhirīn,
with) truthful tongue among
،َ‫ﻕ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻵﺧِﺮﻳﻦ‬
‫ﺪﹴ‬ْ‫ﺻ‬
ِ ‫ﻥ‬
َ ‫ﻞ ﻟﻲ ﻟِﺴﺎ‬
‫ﺟ َﻌ ﹾ‬
ْ ‫ﻭَﺍ‬
the last generation,[2]
Make me victorious over the wanšurnī alal bāghīn,
transgressors,
،َ‫ﺼﺮْﻧﻲ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﻟﹾﺒﺎﻏﻴﻦ‬
‫ﻭَﺍﹾﻧ ﹸ‬
Suffice me the deception of wakfinī kaydal ħāsidīn,
the envious,
،َ‫ﺪ ﺍﻟﹾﺤﺎﺳِﺪﻳﻦ‬
َ ‫ﻭَﺍ ﹾﻛﻔِﻨﻲ ﹶﻛ ْﻴ‬
Turn away from me the evil wašrif annī makral mākirīn,
plans of the schemers,
،َ‫ﻜ َﺮ ﺍﻟﹾﻤﺎﻛِﺮﻳﻦ‬
‫ﻑ َﻋﻨﹼﻲ َﻣ ﹾ‬
ْ ‫ﺻ ﹺﺮ‬
‫ﻭَﺍ ﹾ‬
Hold back from me the hands waqbiđh annī 'aydiyađ-đālimīn,
of the oppressors,
،َ‫ﻱ ﺍﻟﻈﹼﺎﻟِﻤﻴﻦ‬
َ ‫ﺪ‬
ِ ‫ﺾ َﻋﻨﹼﻲ ﺃْﻳ‬
‫ﻭَﺍ ﹾﻗ ﹺﺒ ﹾ‬
Gather me with the blessed wajma baynī wa baynas-sādatil
masters in the utmost exalted mayāmīni fī 'alā illiyyīn, ‫ﻦ‬
‫ﻦ ﺍﻟﺴّﺎ َﺩ ِﺓ ﺍﹾﻟﻤَﻴﺎﻣﻴ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﻊ َﺑﻴْﻨﻲ َﻭ َﺑ ْﻴ‬
ْ ‫ﺟ َﻤ‬
ْ ‫ﻭَﺍ‬
place of Heaven,
،َ‫ﻓﻲ ﺃﻋْﻼ ِﻋ ﱢﻠﻴّﻴﻦ‬
along with whom You have maal-ladhīna 'anamta alayhim
bestowed favor, from among minal nabiyyīna waš-šiddīqīna
‫ﻦ َﻭ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ﺍﻟ ﱠﻨ ﹺﺒﻴّﻴ‬
َ ‫ﻢ ِﻣ‬
ْ ‫ﺖ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ﹺﻬ‬
‫ﻦ ﺃﹾﻧ َﻌ ْﻤ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﻊ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻳ‬
َ ‫َﻣ‬
the prophets, the truthful, the wash-shuhadā'i waš-šāliħīn,
martyrs, and the righteous,[] ،َ‫ﺸﻬَﺪﺍ ِﺀ َﻭ ﺍﻟﺼﹼﺎﻟِﺤﻴﻦ‬
‫ﻦ َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
َ ‫ﺼﺪّﻳﻘﻴ‬
‫ﺍﻟ ﱢ‬
By Your mercy, O the most biraħmatika yā 'arħamar-
merciful of the merciful. rāħimīn, ،َ‫ﻢ ﺍﻟﺮّﺍﺣِﻤﻴﻦ‬
َ‫ﺣ‬
َ ‫ﻚ ﻳﺎ ﺃ ْﺭ‬
َ ‫ﺣ َﻤ ِﺘ‬
ْ ‫ﹺﺑ َﺮ‬
O Allah! I implore You by allāhumma 'innī 'uqsimu alayka
Your infallible Prophet, binabiyyikal mašūm, ‫ﻚ‬
َ ‫ﻚ ﹺﺑ ﹶﻨ ﹺﺒ ﱢﻴ‬
َ ‫ﻢ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ‬
ُ‫ﺴ‬
ِ ‫ﻢ ﺇﻧﹼﻲ ﹸﺍ ﹾﻗ‬
،‫ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ْﻌﺼﹸﻮﻡﹺ‬
by Your definite judgment, wa biħukmikal maħtūm, wa
and Your concealed nuhyakal maktūm, [َ‫ﻚ ]ﹶﻧ ْﻬ ﹺﻴﻚ‬
َ ‫ َﻭ ﹸﻧ ْﻬ َﻴ‬،‫ﺤﺘﹸﻮﻡﹺ‬
ْ ‫ﻚ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻜ ِﻤ‬
‫ﺤﹾ‬ُ ‫َﻭ ﹺﺑ‬
preventive wisdom,
،‫ﻜﺘﹸﻮﻡﹺ‬
‫ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ﹾ‬
by this grave which is the wa bihādhal qabril malmūm, al-
place of congregation and in muwassadi fī kanafihil 'imāmul
‫ﺪ ﻓﻲ ﹶﻛ ﹶﻨ ِﻔ ِﻪ‬ ِ‫ﺳ‬ ‫ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ َﻮ ﱠ‬،‫َﻭ ﺑﹺﻬﺬﹶﺍ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻘ ْﺒ ﹺﺮ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ﹾﻠﻤُﻮﻡﹺ‬
which lies the infallible mašūm, al-maqtūlul mađlūm,
Imam, the slaughtered, and ،ُ‫ﻈﻠﹸﻮﻡ‬
‫ﻝ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ﹾ‬
‫ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ﹾﻘﺘﹸﻮ ﹸ‬،ُ‫ﺍﻹﻣﺎ ُﻡ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ْﻌﺼﹸﻮﻡ‬
the oppressed,
that You dispel from me all 'an takshifa mā bī minal

that grieves me, ghumūm, ،‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸﻐﻤُﻮﻡﹺ‬
َ ‫ﻒ ﻣﺎ ﺑﻲ ِﻣ‬
َ ‫ﺸ‬
ِ ‫ﻜ‬
‫ﻥ ﹶﺗ ﹾ‬
ْ‫ﺃ‬
divert from me the harm of wa tašrifa annī sharral qadaril
the decisive foreordained maħtūm, ،‫ﺤﺘﹸﻮﻡﹺ‬
ْ ‫ﺪ ﹺﺭ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ‬
َ ‫ﺷ ﱠﺮ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻘ‬
‫ﻑ َﻋﻨﹼﻲ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﺼ ﹺﺮ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶﺗ ﹾ‬
plan,
and give me refuge from the wa tujīrani minan-nāri dhātis-
Hellfire with scorching samūm, ،‫ﺴﻤُﻮﻡﹺ‬
‫ﺕ ﺍﻟ ﱠ‬
ِ ‫ﻦ ﺍﻟﻨﹼﺎ ﹺﺭ ﺫﺍ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﺗﹸﺠﻴﺮَﻧﻲ ِﻣ‬
winds.
My Allah! Honor me with allāhumma jallilnī binimatik,
Your bounties,
،َ‫ﺟ ﱢﻠﻠﹾﻨﻲ ﹺﺑ ﹺﻨ ْﻌ َﻤ ِﺘﻚ‬
َ ‫ﻢ‬
Make me content with Your wa rađhđhinnī bi-qasmik,
apportionment,
،َ‫ﺴ ِﻤﻚ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ َﺭﺿﱢﻨﻲ ﹺﺑ ﹶﻘ‬
Encompass me with Your wa taghammadnī bijūdika wa
munificence and generosity, karamik, ،َ‫ﻙ َﻭ ﹶﻛ َﺮ ِﻣﻚ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﹶﺗ ﹶﻐ ﱠﻤﺪْﻧﻲ ﹺﺑﺠُﻮ ِﺩ‬
And keep me far off from wa bāidnī min makrika wa
Your requital scheme and niqmatik, ،َ‫ﻙ َﻭ ﹺﻧ ﹾﻘ َﻤ ِﺘﻚ‬
َ ‫ﻜ ﹺﺮ‬
‫ﻦ َﻣ ﹾ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﺑﺎ ِﻋﺪْﻧﻲ ِﻣ‬
Your wrath.
O Allah! Protect me from allāhumma-šimnī minaz-zalal,
errors,
،‫ﻦ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺰﹶﻟﻞﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺼﻤْﻨﻲ ِﻣ‬
ِ ‫ﻢ ﺍ ْﻋ‬
Make me firm in speech and wa saddidnī fil qawli wal amal,
action,
،‫ﻝ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻌ َﻤﻞﹺ‬
‫ﺪﺩْﻧﻲ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻘ ْﻮ ﹺ‬
‫َﻭ ﺳ ﱢ‬
Extend for me the period (of wafsaħ lī fī muddatil 'ajal,
life),
،‫ﺟﻞﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺪ ِﺓ ﺍﻷ‬
‫ﺢ ﻟﻲ ﻓﻲ ُﻣ ﱠ‬
ْ ‫ﺴ‬
َ ‫ﻭَﺍ ﹾﻓ‬
Relieve me from pain and wafinī minal 'awjāi wal ilal,
ailments,
،‫ﻉ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ ِﻌ ﹶﻠﻞﹺ‬
‫ﻦ ﺍﻷﻭْﺟﺎ ﹺ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﺍ ْﻋﻔِﻨﻲ ِﻣ‬
Make me achieve, through wa ballighnī bimawāliyya wa
my masters and Your grace, bifađhlika 'afđhalal 'amal, ‫ﻞ‬
‫ﻀ ﹶ‬
‫ﻚ ﺃ ﹾﻓ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﻀ ِﻠ‬
‫ﻲ َﻭ ﹺﺑ ﹶﻔ ﹾ‬
‫َﻭ َﺑ ﱢﻠﻐﹾﻨﻲ ﹺﺑﻤَﻮﺍِﻟ ﱠ‬
the best of wishes.
،‫ﻷ َﻣﻞﹺ‬
َ‫ﺍ‬
O Allah! Bless Muhammad allāhumma šalli alā
and the family of muħammadin wa āli ‫ﺪ َﻭ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻝ ُﻣ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
‫ﺻ ﱢ‬
‫ﻢ ﹶ‬
Muhammad and accept my muħammad waqbal tawbati,
repentance and my return, ،‫ﻞ ﹶﺗ ْﻮﺑَﺘﻲ‬
‫ﺍ ﹾﻗ َﺒ ﹾ‬
Have mercy upon my warħam abratī,
weeping,
،‫ﻢ َﻋ ْﺒﺮَﺗﻲ‬
ْ‫ﺣ‬
َ ‫ﻭَﺍ ْﺭ‬
Lessen my lapses, wa 'aqilnī athratī,
،‫َﻭ ﺃ ِﻗﻠﹾﻨﻲ َﻋ ﹾﺜﺮَﺗﻲ‬
Relieve my distress, wa naffis kurbatī,
،‫ﺲ ﹸﻛ ْﺮﺑَﺘﻲ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﹶﻧ ﱢﻔ‬
Forgive me my mistake, waghfir lī khaţī'ati,
،‫ﻭَﺍ ﹾﻏ ِﻔ ْﺮ ﻟﻲ ﺧﹶﻄﻴﺌﹶﺘﻲ‬
And improve my wa 'ašliħ lī fī dhurriyyatī,
(righteousness) through my
،‫ﺢ ﻟﻲ ﻓﻲ ﹸﺫ ﱢﺭﻳﱠﺘﻲ‬
ْ ‫ﺻ ِﻠ‬
‫َﻭ ﺃ ﹾ‬
children.

My Allah! Do not leave for allāhumma lā tada lī fī hādhal
me, in this exalted and mash-hadil muađđami wal ‫ﻢ‬
‫ﻈﹺ‬
‫ﺪ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ َﻌ ﱠ‬
ِ ‫ﺸ َﻬ‬
‫ﻉ ﻟﻲ ﻓﻲ ﻫﺬﹶﺍ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ﹾ‬
ْ‫ﺪ‬َ ‫ﻢ ﻻ ﹶﺗ‬
honored place of martyrdom, maħallil mukkarrami dhanban
any sin but that You forgive, 'illā ghafartah, ،ُ‫ﻻ ﹶﻏ ﹶﻔ ْﺮﹶﺗﻪ‬
‫ﻜ ﱠﺮ ﹺﻡ ﹶﺫﻧﹾﺒ ﹰﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
‫ﻞ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ﹶ‬
‫ﺤ ﱢ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ‬
Nor any defect but that You wa lā ayban 'illā satartah,
conceal,
،ُ‫ﺳ ﹶﺘ ْﺮﹶﺗﻪ‬
َ ‫ﻻ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ َﻋﻴْﺒ ﹰﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
Nor any grief but that You wa lā ghamman 'illā
remove, kashaftah, ،ُ‫ﺸ ﹾﻔ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﻻ ﹶﻛ ﹶ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﹶﻏ ّﻤ ﹰﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
Nor any sustenance but that wa lā rizqan 'illā basaţtah,
You extend,
،ُ‫ﻄ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﺴﹾ‬َ ‫ﻻ َﺑ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﹺﺭﺯﹾﻗ ﹰﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
Nor any (spiritual) status but wa lā jāhan 'illā amartah,
that You cause to prosper,
،ُ‫ﻻ َﻋ َﻤ ْﺮﹶﺗﻪ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﺟﺎﻫ ﹰﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
Nor any corruption but that wa lā fasādan 'illā 'ašlaħtah,
which You correct,
،ُ‫ﺤ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
ْ ‫ﺻ ﹶﻠ‬
‫ﻻﺃ ﹾ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﻓﹶﺴﺎﺩﹰﺍ ﺇ ﹼ‬
Nor any wish but that You wa lā 'amalan 'illā ballaghtah,
fulfill,
،ُ‫ﻻ َﺑ ﱠﻠ ﹾﻐ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﻼﺇ ﹼ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﺃ َﻣ ﹰ‬
Nor any supplication but that wa lā duā'an 'illā 'ajabtah,
You answer,
،ُ‫ﺟ ْﺒ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
َ ‫ﻻﺃ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﺩُﻋﺎ ًﺀ ﺇ ﹼ‬
Nor any pressure but that wa lā mađhīqan 'illā farrajtah,
You relieve,
،ُ‫ﺟ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
ْ ‫ﻻ ﹶﻓ ﱠﺮ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﻣَﻀﻴﻘ ﹰﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
Nor any dispersed wa lā shamlan 'illā jamatah,
(believers) but that You
،ُ‫ﺟ َﻤ ْﻌ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
َ ‫ﻻ‬
‫ﻼﺇ ﹼ‬
‫ﺷ ْﻤ ﹰ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﹶ‬
reunify,
Nor any matter but that You wa lā 'amran 'illā 'atmamtah,
complete,
،ُ‫ﻻ ﺃﹾﺗ َﻤ ْﻤ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﺃﻣْﺮﹰﺍ ﺇ ﹼ‬
Nor any wealth but that You wa lā mālan 'illā kath-thartah,
increase,
،ُ‫ﻻ ﹶﻛ ﱠﺜ ْﺮﹶﺗﻪ‬
‫ﻻﺇ ﹼ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﻣﺎ ﹰ‬
Nor any character but that wa lā khulqan 'illā ħassantah,
You improve,
،ُ‫ﺴ ﹾﻨ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﺣ ﱠ‬
َ ‫ﻻ‬
‫ﺧﻠﹾﻘ ﹰﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﹸ‬
Nor any charity but that You wa lā 'infāqan 'illā 'akhlaftah,
repay,
،ُ‫ﺧ ﹶﻠ ﹾﻔ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﻻﺃ ﹾ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﺇﻧﹾﻔﺎﻗ ﹰﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
Nor any condition but that wa lā ħālan 'illā amartah,
You cause to improve,
،ُ‫ﻻ َﻋ َﻤ ْﺮﹶﺗﻪ‬
‫ﻻﺇ ﹼ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﺣﺎ ﹰ‬
Nor any envious (one) but wa lā ħasūdan 'illā qamatah,
that You suppress,
،ُ‫ﻻ ﹶﻗ َﻤ ْﻌ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﺣﺴُﻮﺩﹰﺍ ﺇ ﹼ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﻻ‬
Nor any enemy but that You wa lā aduwwan 'illā 'ardaytah,
destroy,
،ُ‫ﻻ ﺃ ْﺭ َﺩْﻳ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﺪ ّﻭﹰﺍ ﺇ ﹼ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ ﻻ َﻋ‬
Nor any evil but that You wa lā sharran 'illā kafaytah,

suffice,
،ُ‫ﻻ ﹶﻛ ﹶﻔ ْﻴ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﺷ ّﺮﹰﺍ ﺇ ﹼ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﹶ‬
Nor any ailment but that You wa lā marađhan 'illā
cure, shafaytah, ،ُ‫ﺷ ﹶﻔ ْﻴ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﻻ ﹶ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ َﻣﺮَﺿ ﹰﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
Nor any distant (one) but wa lā baīdan 'illā 'adnaytah,
that You bring near,
،ُ‫ﻻ ﺃ ْﺩﹶﻧ ْﻴ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﺑَﻌﻴﺪﹰﺍ ﺇ ﹼ‬
Nor any scattering but that wa lā shaathan 'illā lamamtah,
You reunite,
،ُ‫ﻻ ﹶﻟ َﻤ ْﻤ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﺷﻌَﺜ ﹰﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﹶ‬
Nor any request but that You wa lā su'ālan [su'lan] 'illā
grant. 'aţaytah, ،ُ‫ﻄ ْﻴ ﹶﺘﻪ‬
‫ﻻ ﺃ ْﻋ ﹶ‬
‫ﺳ ْﺆﻻﹰ[ ﺇ ﹼ‬
ُ ]‫ﻻ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﺳُﺆﺍ ﹰ‬
O Allah! I ask You for the allāhumma 'innī 'as'aluka
goodness of this transitory khayral ajilah, ،ِ‫ﺟ ﹶﻠﺔ‬
‫ﺧ ْﻴ َﺮ ﺍﻟﹾﻌﺎ ﹺ‬
‫ﻚ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﺳ ﹶﺌ ﹸﻠ‬
ْ ‫ﻢ ﺇﻧﹼﻲ ﺃ‬
world,
and the reward of the wa thawabal ājilah,
hereafter.
،ِ‫ﺟ ﹶﻠﺔ‬
‫ﺏ ﺍﻵ ﹺ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﺛﹶﻮﺍ‬
Part 15
O Allah! Suffice me with allāhumma 'aghninī biħalālika
what You made lawful from anil ħarām, ،‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟﺤَﺮﺍﻡﹺ‬
‫ﻚ َﻋ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﻢ ﺃ ﹾﻏﻨﹺﻨﻲ ﹺﺑﺤَﻼِﻟ‬
the unlawful,
and with Your grace from wa bifađhlika an jamīil 'anām,
all other creatures.
،‫ﻊ ﺍﻷﻧﺎﻡﹺ‬
‫ﻦ ﺟَﻤﻴ ﹺ‬
ْ ‫ﻚ َﻋ‬
َ ‫ﻀ ِﻠ‬
‫َﻭ ﹺﺑ ﹶﻔ ﹾ‬
My Allah! I ask You for allāhumma 'innī 'as'aluka ilman
beneficial knowledge, nāfiā, ،‫ﻚ ِﻋﻠﹾﻤ ﹰﺎ ﻧﺎﻓِﻌﺎﹰ‬
a humble heart, wa qalban khāshiā,
،‫َﻭ ﹶﻗﻠﹾﺒ ﹰﺎ ﺧﺎﺷِﻌﺎﹰ‬
unequivocal certitude, wa yaqīnan shāfiyā,
،‫َﻭ ﻳَﻘﻴﻨ ﹰﺎ ﺷﺎﻓِﻴﺎﹰ‬
pure action, wa amalan zākiyā,
،‫َﻭ َﻋﻤَﻼ ﺯﺍﻛِﻴﺎﹰ‬
beautiful patience, wa šabran jamīlā,
،‫ﺻﺒْﺮﹰﺍ ﺟَﻤﻴﻼﹰ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶ‬
and a bountiful reward. wa ajran 'jazīlā,
،‫َﻭ ﺃﺟْﺮﹰﺍ ﺟَﺰﻳﻼﹰ‬
O Allah! Grant me gratitude allāhummarzuqnī shukra
of Your blessing upon me, nimatika alayy, ،‫ﻚ َﻋ ﹶﻠﻰﱠ‬
َ ‫ﻜ َﺮ ﹺﻧ ْﻌ َﻤ ِﺘ‬
‫ﺷﹾ‬‫ﻢ ﺍ ْﺭ ﹸﺯﻗﹾﻨﻲ ﹸ‬
Increase Your favor and wa zid fī 'iħsānika wa karamika
munificence on me, 'ilayy, ،‫ﻚ ﺇﹶﻟﻰﱠ‬
َ ‫ﻚ َﻭ ﹶﻛ َﺮ ِﻣ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﹺﺯ ْﺩ ﻓﻲ ﺇﺣْﺴﺎﹺﻧ‬
Make my speech amongst wajal qawlī fin-nāsi masmūā,
people effective,
،‫ﺴﻤُﻮﻋﺎﹰ‬
ْ ‫ﺱ َﻣ‬
‫ﻞ ﹶﻗﻮْﻟﻲ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻟﻨﹼﺎ ﹺ‬
‫ﺟ َﻌ ﹾ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﺍ‬
my deeds elevated and wa amalī indaka marfūā,

worthy of being delivered to
،‫ﻙ َﻣ ْﺮﻓﹸﻮﻋﺎﹰ‬
َ ‫ﺪ‬
َ ‫َﻭ َﻋﻤَﻠﻲ ِﻋ ﹾﻨ‬
You,
my righteous works wa 'atharī fil khayrāti matbūā,
followed (by others),
،‫ﺕ َﻣ ﹾﺘﺒُﻮﻋﺎﹰ‬
ِ ‫ﺨﻴْﺮﺍ‬
‫َﻭ ﺃﺛﹶﺮﻱ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶ‬
and my enemy quelled, wa aduwwī maqmūā,
،‫ﺪﻭّﻱ َﻣ ﹾﻘﻤُﻮﻋﺎﹰ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ َﻋ‬
O Allah! Send blessings allāhumma šalli alā
upon Muhammad and the muħammadin wa āli ‫ﺪ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻝ ُﻣ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
‫ﺻ ﱢ‬
‫ﻢ ﹶ‬
family of Muhammad, the muħammadinil 'akhyār, fī ānā'il-
best of the creations, day layli wa 'aţrāfin-nahār, ،‫ﻑ ﺍﻟﻨﱠﻬﺎﺭﹺ‬
ِ ‫ﻞ َﻭ ﺃﻃﹾﺮﺍ‬
‫ ﻓﻲ ﺁﻧﺎ ِﺀ ﺍﻟ ﱠﻠ ْﻴ ﹺ‬،‫ﺍﻷﺧﹾﻴﺎﺭﹺ‬
and night,
Spare me from the evil of wakfinī sharral ashrār,
the wicked,
،‫ﺷ ﱠﺮ ﺍﻷﺷﹾﺮﺍﺭﹺ‬
‫َﻭ ﺍ ﹾﻛﻔِﻨﻲ ﹶ‬
Purify me from sins and wa ţahhirnī minadh-dhunūbi wal
burdens, awzār, ،‫ﺏ َﻭ ﺍﻷﻭْﺯﺍﺭﹺ‬
‫ﺬﻧﹸﻮ ﹺ‬
‫ﻦ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﹶﻃ ﱢﻬﺮْﻧﻲ ِﻣ‬
Give me refuge from Hell- wa 'ajirnī minan-nār,
fire,
،‫ﻦ ﺍﻟﻨﹼﺎﺭﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺟﺮْﻧﻲ ِﻣ‬
‫َﻭ ﺃ ﹺ‬
Settle me in the House of wa 'aħillanī dāral qarār,
rest (Paradise),
،‫ﺣﻠﱠﻨﻲ ﺩﺍﺭَﺍﹾﻟﻘﹶﺮﺍﺭﹺ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ﺃ‬
And forgive me and all my waghfir lī wa lijamīi 'ikhwāni
faithful brothers and sisters, fīka wa 'akhawātiyal mu'minīna
‫ﻚ َﻭ‬
َ ‫ﻊ ﺇﺧﹾﻮﺍﻧﻲ ﻓﻴ‬
‫َﻭ ﺍ ﹾﻏ ِﻔ ْﺮ ﻟﻲ َﻭ ِﻟﺠَﻤﻴ ﹺ‬
wal mu'mināt,
،ِ‫ﻦ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ْﺆﻣِﻨﺎﺕ‬
َ ‫ﻲ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ْﺆﻣِﻨﻴ‬
َ ‫ﺃﺧﹶﻮﺍِﺗ‬
By Your mercy, O the most biraħmatika yā 'arħamar-
merciful of the merciful! rāħimīn. .‫ﻦ‬
َ ‫ﻢ ﺍﻟﺮّﺍﺣِﻤﻴ‬
َ‫ﺣ‬
SUPPLICATION IN THE QUNUT OF

THE PRAYER AFTER ZIYARAT

Then stand beside the upper side of the
grave, face towards the Qiblaand perform a ‫ﺛﻢ ﻗﻒ ﻋﻨﺪ ﺍﻟﺮﺃﺱ ﻭ ﺗﻮﺟﻪ ﺇﻟﻰ ﺍﻟﻘﺒﻠﺔ‬
two-unit Ziyarat prayer. Recite Chapter 21
(al-Anbiya) in the first unit and Chapter 59
(al-Hashr) in the second unit of the prayer,
‫ﻭ ﺻﻞ ﺭﻛﻌﺘﻴﻦ ﻭ ﺍﻗﺮﺃ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻷﻭﻟﻰ ﺳﻮﺭﺓ‬
and recite the following supplication in
the Qunut of the prayer: ‫ﺍﻷﻧﺒﻴﺎﺀ ﻭ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﺜﺎﻧﻴﺔ ﺍﻟﺤﺸﺮ ﻭ ﺍﻗﻨﺖ ﻭ‬
:‫ﻗﻞ‬
There is no deity but Allah, the lā 'ilāha 'llal-lāhul
forbearing, the generous. ħalīmul karīm, ،ُ‫ﻢ ﺍﹾﻟﻜﹶﺮﻳﻢ‬
ُ ‫ﷲ ﺍﹾﻟﺤَﻠﻴ‬
ُ ‫ﻻﺍ‬
‫ﻻﺇﻟ َﻪ ﺇ ﱠ‬
There is no deity but Allah, the lā 'ilāha 'llal-lāhul aliyyul
supreme, the great. ađīm, ،ُ‫ﻲ ﺍﹾﻟﻌَﻈﻴﻢ‬
‫ﷲ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻌ ِﻠ ﱡ‬
ُ ‫ﻻﺇﻟ َﻪ ﺇﻻﱠﺍ‬
There is no deity but Allah, the Lord lā 'ilāha 'llal-lāhu rabbus-

of the seven heavens and the seven samāwātis-sabi wal ‫ﻊ َﻭ‬
‫ﺴ ْﺒ ﹺ‬
‫ﺕ ﺍﻟ ﱠ‬
ِ ‫ﺏ ﺍﻟﺴﱠﻤﺎﻭﺍ‬
‫ﷲ َﺭ ﱡ‬
ُ ‫ﻻﺇﻟ َﻪ ﺇﻻﱠﺍ‬
earths, 'arađhīnas-sab,
،‫ﺴ ْﺒﻊﹺ‬
‫ﻦ ﺍﻟ ﱠ‬
َ ‫ﺍﻷﺭَﺿﻴ‬
and whatever is in them and wa mā fīhinna wa mā
whatever is between them. baynahunn, ،‫ﻦ َﻭ ﻣﺎ َﺑ ْﻴ ﹶﻨ ُﻬﻦﱠ‬
‫َﻭ ﻣﺎ ﻓﻴ ﹺﻬ ﱠ‬
(By this, I am) opposing (the belief khilāfan li 'adā'ih,
of) His enemies,
،ِ‫ﺧِﻼﻓ ﹰﺎ ﻟِﺄﻋْﺪﺍِﺋﻪ‬
disavowing whomever has turned wa takdhīban liman adala
away from Him, bih, ،ِ‫ﻝ ﹺﺑﻪ‬
‫ﺪﹶ‬
َ ‫ﻦ َﻋ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﹶﺗﻜﹾﺬﻳﺒ ﹰﺎ ِﻟ َﻤ‬
confessing His Lordship, wa 'iqrāran
lirubūbiyyatih, ،ِ‫َﻭ ﺇﻗﹾﺮﺍﺭﹰﺍ ِﻟ ُﺮﺑُﻮﹺﺑ ﱠﻴ ِﺘﻪ‬
and surrendering to His majesty. wa khuđhū'an li izzatih,
،ِ‫ﺧﻀﹸﻮﻋ ﹰﺎ ِﻟ ِﻌ ﱠﺰِﺗﻪ‬
‫َﻭ ﹸ‬
He is the first other than being the al'awwalu bighayri
first (in number). 'awwal ،‫ﻝ ﹺﺑ ﹶﻐ ْﻴ ﹺﺮ ﺃﻭﱠﻝ‬
‫ﺍﻷ ﱠﻭ ﹸ‬
He is the last without having an end. wal ākhiru 'ilā ghayri
ākhir, ،‫ﺧ ُﺮ ﺇﻟﻰ ﹶﻏ ْﻴ ﹺﺮ ﺁﺧِﺮ‬
ِ ‫ﻭَﺍﻵ‬
He is dominant (Zahir) over ađđāhiru alā kulli shay'in
everything by His power. biqudratih, ،ِ‫ﺪ َﺭِﺗﻪ‬
ْ ‫ﺷﻰْﺀ ﹺﺑ ﹸﻘ‬
‫ﻞ ﹶ‬
‫ﺍﻟﻈﹼﺎ ِﻫ ُﺮ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹸﻛ ﱢ‬
He is hidden (Batin) as He knows al-bāţinu dūna kulli
underneath of every thing by His shay'in biilmihi wa luţfih, ،ِ‫ﻄ ِﻔﻪ‬
‫ﺷﻰْﺀ ﹺﺑ ِﻌ ﹾﻠ ِﻤ ِﻪ َﻭ ﹸﻟ ﹾ‬
‫ﻞ ﹶ‬
‫ﻥ ﹸﻛ ﱢ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ﺩُﻭ‬
ُ ‫ﺍﻟﹾﺒﺎ ِﻃ‬
knowledge and His subtlety.
Intellects cannot comprehend the lā taqiful uqūlu alā kunhi
depth of His grandeur. ađamatih, ،ِ‫ﻈ َﻤ ِﺘﻪ‬
‫ﻝ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹸﻛ ﹾﻨ ِﻪ َﻋ ﹶ‬
‫ﻒ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻌﻘﹸﻮ ﹸ‬
ُ ‫ﻻ ﹶﺗ ِﻘ‬
Thoughts cannot grasp the reality of wa lā tudrikul 'awhāmu
His Essence. ħaqīqata māhiyyatih, ،ِ‫ﻙ ﺍﻷﻭْﻫﺎ ُﻡ ﺣَﻘﻴ ﹶﻘ ﹶﺔ ﻣﺎ ِﻫ ﱠﻴ ِﺘﻪ‬
ُ ‫ﺪ ﹺﺭ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﻻ ﹸﺗ‬
Souls cannot imagine the meanings wa lā tatašawwarul
of His (created) qualities. 'anfusu maāni kayfiyyatih, ،ِ‫ﻲ ﹶﻛ ْﻴ ِﻔ ﱠﻴ ِﺘﻪ‬
َ ‫ﺲ ﻣَﻌﺎﹺﻧ‬
ُ ‫ﺼ ﱠﻮ ُﺭ ﺍﻷﹾﻧ ﹸﻔ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ ﹶﺗ ﹶﺘ ﹶ‬
He knows well the innermost muţţalian alađh-đhamā'ir,
thoughts (of His servants),
،‫ﻄﻠِﻌ ﹰﺎ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﻟﻀﱠﻤﺎِﺋﺮﹺ‬
‫ُﻣ ﱠ‬
is cognizant of the secrets, ārifan bis-sarā'ir,
،‫ﻋﺎﺭﹺﻓ ﹰﺎ ﺑﹺﺎﻟﺴﱠﺮﺍِﺋﺮﹺ‬
and knows the treachery of the eyes, yalamu khā'inatal 'ayuni
and all that the hearts (of men) wa mā tukhfiš-šudūr, ‫ﺨﻔِﻰ‬
‫ﻦ َﻭ ﻣﺎ ﹸﺗ ﹾ‬
‫ﻢ ﺧﺎِﺋ ﹶﻨ ﹶﺔ ﺍﻷ ْﻋ ُﻴ ﹺ‬
ُ ‫َﻳ ْﻌ ﹶﻠ‬
conceal.[1]
،ُ‫ﺼﺪُﻭﺭ‬
‫ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
My Allah! I bear You as witness of allāhumma 'innī 'ush-
my acknowledgement of Your hiduka alā tašdīqī ‫ﻙ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹶﺗﺼﹾﺪﻳﻘﻲ‬
َ ‫ﺪ‬
ُ ‫ﺷ ﹺﻬ‬
‫ﻢ ﺇﻧﹼﻲ ﹸﺍ ﹾ‬
Messenger (PBUH&HF) and my faith in rasūlaka šallal-lāhu layhi
him, wa ālih wa 'īmānī bih, ‫ﷲ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ِﻪ َﻭ ﺁِﻟ ِﻪ َﻭ ﺇﻳﻤﺎﻧﻲ‬
‫ﻚ ﹶ‬
َ ‫َﺭﺳُﻮﹶﻟ‬
،ِ‫ﹺﺑﻪ‬
and my recognition of his status. wa ilmī bimanzilatih,

،ِ‫َﻭ ِﻋﻠﹾﻤﻲ ﹺﺑ َﻤ ﹾﻨ ﹺﺰﹶﻟ ِﺘﻪ‬
I bear witness that he was the wa 'innī 'ash-hadu
Prophet by whose favor wisdom was 'annahun-nabiyyul-ladhi
‫ﺖ‬
ِ ‫ﻄ ﹶﻘ‬
‫ﻲ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﹶﻧ ﹶ‬
‫ﺪ ﺃﱠﻧ ُﻪ ﺍﻟ ﱠﻨ ﹺﺒ ﱡ‬
ُ ‫ﺷ َﻬ‬
‫َﻭ ﺇﻧﹼﻲ ﺃ ﹾ‬
given voice, naţaqatil ħikmatu
bifađhlih, ،ِ‫ﻀ ِﻠﻪ‬
‫ﻜ َﻤ ﹸﺔ ﹺﺑ ﹶﻔ ﹾ‬
‫ﺤﹾ‬ِ ‫ﺍﹾﻟ‬
of whom (previous) prophets gave wa bash-sharatil 'anbiyā'u
glad tidings, bih, ،ِ‫ﺕ ﺍﻷﹾﻧﺒﹺﻴﺎ ُﺀ ﹺﺑﻪ‬
ِ ‫ﺸ َﺮ‬
‫َﻭ َﺑ ﱠ‬
called people to admit what wa daat 'ilal 'iqrāri bimā
he brought (from the Lord), jā'a bih, ،ِ‫ﺖ ﺇﻟﹶﻰ ﺍﻹﻗﹾﺮﺍ ﹺﺭ ﺑﹺﻤﺎ ﺟﺎ َﺀ ﹺﺑﻪ‬
‫َﻭ َﺩ َﻋ ﹾ‬
and urged people to acknowledge wa ħath-that alā tašdīqih,
him,
،ِ‫ﺖ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹶﺗﺼﹾﺪﻳ ِﻘﻪ‬
‫ﺣ ﱠﺜ ﹾ‬
َ ‫َﻭ‬
according to His saying, the most biqawlihi ta'ālā:
high, “… he, whom they find alladhīna yajidūnahu ‫ﻜﺘﹸﻮﺑ ﹰﺎ‬
‫ﺠﺪُﻭﹶﻧ ُﻪ َﻣ ﹾ‬
‫ »ﹶﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ َﻳ ﹺ‬:‫ﹺﺑ ﹶﻘ ْﻮِﻟ ِﻪ ﺗﹶﻌﺎﻟﻰ‬
mentioned in their Torah and the maktūban indahum fit-
Gospels, who commands them tawrāti wal 'injīli ‫ﻢ‬
ْ ‫ﻞ َﻳ ﹾﺄ ُﻣ ُﺮ ُﻫ‬
‫ﻢ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺘﻮْﺭﻳ ِﺔ َﻭ ﺍﻹﻧﹾﺠﻴ ﹺ‬
ْ ‫ﺪ ُﻫ‬
َ ‫ِﻋ ﹾﻨ‬
ya'muruhum bil marūfi wa
virtuous acts and forbids them evil,
allows them as lawful the good (and
yanhāhum anil munkari ‫ﻜ ﹺﺮ َﻭ‬
‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ﹾﻨ ﹶ‬
‫ﻢ َﻋ ﹺ‬
ْ ‫ﻑ َﻭ َﻳﻨﹾﻬﻴ ُﻬ‬
ِ ‫ﺑﹺﺎﹾﻟ َﻤ ْﻌﺮُﻭ‬
wa yuħillu lahumuţ-
pure) things, prohibits them from ţayyibāti wa yuħarrimu
impurities, and releases them from alayhimul khabā'itha wa
‫ﻢ‬
ُ ‫ﺤ ﱢﺮ ُﻡ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ﹺﻬ‬
َ ‫ﺕ َﻭ ُﻳ‬
ِ ‫ﻄﻴﱢﺒﺎ‬
‫ﻢ ﺍﻟ ﱠ‬
ُ ‫ﻞ ﹶﻟ ُﻬ‬
‫ﺤ ﱡ‬
ِ ‫ُﻳ‬
their heavy burdens and from the yađhau anhum 'išrahum
yokes that are upon them ...” [2] wal 'aghlālal-lati kānat ‫ﻢ َﻭ‬
ْ ‫ﺻ َﺮ ُﻫ‬
‫ﻢﺇ ﹾ‬
ْ ‫ﻊ َﻋ ﹾﻨ ُﻬ‬
ُ‫ﻀ‬
‫ﺚ َﻭ َﻳ ﹶ‬
‫ﺍﹾﻟﺨﹶﺒﺎِﺋ ﹶ‬
alayhim,
،«‫ﻢ‬
ْ ‫ﺖ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ﹺﻬ‬
‫ﻝ ﺍﻟﱠﺘﻲ ﻛﺎﹶﻧ ﹾ‬
‫ﺍﻷﻏﹾﻼ ﹶ‬

Part 2
Thus, bless Muhammad, Your fašalli alā muħammadin
messenger to both masses (of human rasūlika 'ilath-thaqalayn,
‫ﻚ ﺇﻟﹶﻰ‬
َ ‫ﺪ َﺭﺳُﻮِﻟ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
‫ﺼ ﱢ‬
‫ﹶﻓ ﹶ‬
and Jinn),
،‫ﺍﻟ ﱠﺜ ﹶﻘ ﹶﻠ ْﻴﻦﹺ‬
the master of the chosen prophets, wa sayyidil 'anbiyā'il
mušţafayn, ،َ‫ﻄ ﹶﻔ ْﻴﻦ‬
‫ﺼﹶ‬
‫ﺪ ﺍﻷﹾﻧﺒﹺﻴﺎ ِﺀ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ﹾ‬
ِ ‫ﺳ ﱢﻴ‬
َ ‫َﻭ‬
and (bless) his brother and his wa alā 'akhīhi wabni
cousin, ammih, ،ِ‫ﻦ َﻋ ﱢﻤﻪ‬
‫َﻭ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺃﺧﻴ ِﻪ َﻭ ﺍْﺑ ﹺ‬
neither of whom ever took alladhīna lam yushrikā
associates with You (in worship) bika ţarfata aynin 'abadā, ،‫ﻚ ﹶﻃ ْﺮ ﹶﻓ ﹶﺔ َﻋﻴْﻦ ﺃﺑَﺪﺍﹰ‬
َ ‫ﺸﺮﹺﻛﺎ ﹺﺑ‬
‫ﻢ ُﻳ ﹾ‬
ْ ‫ﻦ ﹶﻟ‬
‫ﺬْﻳ ﹺ‬
‫ﺍﻟ ﱠﻠ ﹶ‬
even for one moment,
and (bless) Fatima, the radiant, and wa alā fāţimataz-zahrā'i

the chief of the ladies of the worlds, sayyidati nisā'il ālamīn, ‫ﺳﻴﱢﺪ ِﺓ ﻧﹺﺴﺎ ِﺀ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻓﺎ ِﻃ َﻤ ﹶﺔ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺰﻫْﺮﺍ ِﺀ‬
،َ‫ﺍﻟﹾﻌﺎﻟﹶﻤﻴﻦ‬
and (bless) the two masters of the wa alā sayyiday shabābi
youth of Paradise, al-Hasan and al- 'ahlil jannah, al-ħasani ‫ﺠ ﱠﻨ ِﺔ‬
َ ‫ﻞ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
‫ﺏ ﺃ ْﻫ ﹺ‬
‫ﻯ ﺷﹶﺒﺎ ﹺ‬
ْ ‫ﺪ‬
َ ‫ﺳ ﱢﻴ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﻋَﻠﻰ‬
Husain, wal ħusayn,
،‫ﺴ ْﻴﻦﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺤ‬
ُ ‫ﻦ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
‫ﺴ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺤ‬
َ ‫ﺍﹾﻟ‬
With an everlasting blessing, šalātan khālidatad-
dawām, ،‫ﺪ ﹶﺓ ﺍﻟﺪﱠﻭﺍﻡﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺻﹶﻼ ﹰﺓ ﺧﺎِﻟ‬
equal to the number of drops of adada qaţrir-rihām,
rains,
،‫ﻄ ﹺﺮ ﺍﻟﺮﱢﻫﺎﻡﹺ‬
‫ﺪ َﺩ ﹶﻗ ﹾ‬
َ ‫َﻋ‬
and the weight of the mountains and wa zinatil jibāla wal
hills, ākām, ،‫ﻝ َﻭ ﺍﻵﻛﺎﻡﹺ‬
‫َﻭ ﹺﺯﹶﻧ ﹶﺔ ﺍﹾﻟﺠﹺﺒﺎ ﹺ‬
until peace and salutations is ever mā 'awraqas-salām,
exchanged,
،ُ‫ﻕ ﺍﻟﺴﱠﻼﻡ‬
َ ‫ﻣﺎ ﺃ ْﻭ َﺭ‬
and brightness (of day) and darkness wakhtalafađh-đhiyā'u
(of night) are replaced. wađ-đalām, ،ُ‫ﻒ ﺍﻟﻀﱢﻴﺎ ُﺀ َﻭ ﺍﻟﻈﱠﻼﻡ‬
َ ‫ﺧ ﹶﺘ ﹶﻠ‬
‫َﻭ ﺍ ﹾ‬
And (bless) his pure family, (the rest wa alā ālihiţ-ţāhirīn, al-
of) the guided Imams, 'a'immatil muhtadīn, ‫ ﺍﻷِﺋ ﱠﻤ ِﺔ‬،َ‫َﻭ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺁِﻟ ِﻪ ﺍﻟﻄﹼﺎﻫِﺮﻳﻦ‬
،َ‫ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ْﻬﺘﹶﺪﻳﻦ‬
the defenders of the religion, adh-dhā'idīna anid-dīn,
،‫ﻦ ﺍﻟﺪّﻳﻦﹺ‬
‫ﻦ َﻋ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺍﻟﺬﹼﺍﺋِﺪﻳ‬
(who are) Ali, Muhammad, Ja’far, aliyyin wa muħammadin
Musa, Ali, Muhammad, Ali, al- wa jafarin wa mūsa wa ‫ﻲ‬
‫ﺟ ْﻌ ﹶﻔ ﹴﺮ َﻭ ﻣُﻮﺳﻰ َﻭ َﻋ ِﻠ ﱟ‬
َ ‫ﺪ َﻭ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻲ َﻭ ُﻣ‬
‫َﻋ ِﻠ ﱟ‬
Hasan, and al-Hujja, aliyyin wa muħammadin
wa aliyyin wal ħasani wal ،ِ‫ﺠﺔ‬
‫ﺤﱠ‬ُ ‫ﻦ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
‫ﺴ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺤ‬
َ ‫ﻲ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
‫ﺪ َﻭ َﻋ ِﻠ ﱟ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ُﻣ‬
ħujjah,
the establishers of fairness, and the al-qawwāmi bilqisţ, wa
grandsons of the Prophet(PBUH&HF). sulālatis-sibţ, ،ِ‫ﺴ ْﺒﻂ‬
‫ َﻭ ﺳُﻼﹶﻟ ِﺔ ﺍﻟ ﱢ‬،ِ‫ﺴﻂ‬
ْ ‫ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻘﻮّﺍ ﹺﻡ ﺑﹺﺎﹾﻟ ِﻘ‬
Part
O Allah! I ask You by the rights of allāhumma 'innī 'as'aluka
this Imam, a relief in the near future, biħaqqi hādhal 'imāmi
‫ﻖ ﻫﺬﹶﺍ ﺍﻹﻣﺎ ﹺﻡ‬
‫ﺤ ﱢ‬
َ ‫ﻚ ﹺﺑ‬
farajan qarībā,
،‫ﹶﻓﺮَﺟ ﹰﺎ ﻗﹶﺮﻳﺒﺎﹰ‬
beautiful patience, wa šabran Jamīlā,
،‫ﺻﺒْﺮﹰﺍ ﺟَﻤﻴﻼ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶ‬
mighty triumph, wa našran azīzā,
،‫َﻭ ﹶﻧﺼﹾﺮﹰﺍ ﻋَﺰﻳﺰﺍﹰ‬
sufficiency from people, wa ghinan anil khalq,

،‫ﺨ ﹾﻠﻖﹺ‬
‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶ‬
‫ﻰ َﻋ ﹺ‬
ً ‫َﻭ ﻏِﻨ‬
steadfastness in (the path of) wa thabātan fil hudā,
guidance,
،‫َﻭ ﺛﹶﺒﺎﺗ ﹰﺎ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﹾﻟﻬُﺪﻯ‬
success in what pleases and satisfies wat-tawfīqa lima tuhibbu
You, wa tarđhā, ،‫ﺐ َﻭ ﹶﺗﺮْﺿﻰ‬
‫ﺤ ﱡ‬
ِ ‫ﻖ ﻟِﻤﺎ ﹸﺗ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺘﻮْﻓﻴ‬
a sustenance that is vast, lawful, wa rizqan wāsi'an ħalālan
pure, ţayyibā, ،‫َﻭ ﹺﺭﺯﹾﻗ ﹰﺎ ﻭﺍﺳِﻌ ﹰﺎ ﺣَﻼﻻ ﹶﻃﻴﱢﺒﺎﹰ‬
adequate, fruitful, pleasant, marī'an dārran sā'ighā,
،‫ﻣَﺮﻳﺌ ﹰﺎ ﺩﺍ ّﺭﹰﺍ ﺳﺎﺋِﻐﺎﹰ‬
abundant, superior, pouring forth, fāđhilan mufađhđhilan
šabban šabbā, ،‫ﺻ ّﺒﺎﹰ‬
‫ﺻ ّﺒ ﹰﺎ ﹶ‬
‫ﻼ ﹶ‬
‫ﻀﹰ‬
‫ﻼ ُﻣ ﹶﻔ ﱢ‬
‫ﺿﹰ‬
ِ ‫ﻓﺎ‬
without any toil, trouble, and favor min ghayri kaddin wa lā
from anyone. nakad, wa lā minnatin min ‫ﻦ‬
ْ ‫ َﻭ ﻻ ِﻣﻨﱠﺔ ِﻣ‬،‫ﺪ َﻭ ﻻ ﹶﻧﻜﹶﺪ‬
ّ ‫ﻦ ﹶﻏ ْﻴ ﹺﺮ ﹶﻛ‬
ْ ‫ِﻣ‬
'aħad,
،‫ﺃﺣَﺪ‬
Preserve my health against any wa āfiyatan min kulli
affliction, ailment, and disease, balā'in wa suqmin wa ،‫ﺳﻘﹾﻢ َﻭ َﻣﺮَﺽ‬
ُ ‫ﻞ ﺑَﻼﺀ َﻭ‬
‫ﻦ ﹸﻛ ﱢ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﻋﺎ ِﻓ َﻴ ﹰﺔ ِﻣ‬
marađh,
Grant me appreciation of well-being wash-shukra alal āfiyati
and blessings, wan-namā', ،ِ‫ﻜ َﺮ َﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﻟﹾﻌﺎ ِﻓ َﻴ ِﺔ َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱠﻨﻌْﻤﺎﺀ‬
‫ﺸﹾ‬‫َﻭ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
And when the time of death arrives, wa 'idhā jā'al mawtu
take our soul while it is in the best faqbidhnā alā 'aħsani mā ‫ﻦ‬
‫ﺴ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺣ‬
ْ ‫ﺕ ﻓﹶﺎ ﹾﻗ ﹺﺒﻀﹾﻨﺎ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﺃ‬
‫َﻭ ﺇﺫﺍ ﺟﺎ َﺀ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻤ ْﻮ ﹸ‬
condition of obedience to You, yakūnu laka ţā'ah,
،‫ﻚ ﻃﺎ َﻋﺔﹰ‬
َ ‫ﻥ ﹶﻟ‬
ُ ‫ﻣﺎ َﻳﻜﹸﻮ‬
And while observing what You alā mā 'amartanā
commanded, so that You lead us to muħāfiđhīna ħattā ‫ﺣﺘﹼﻰ ﹸﺗ َﺆ ﱢﺩﻳَﻨﺎ‬
َ ‫ﻦ‬
َ ‫ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻣﺎ ﺃ َﻣ ْﺮﺗﹶﻨﺎ ﻣُﺤﺎﻓِﻈﻴ‬
the Garden of blessings. ţu'addiyanā 'ilā jannātin-
naīm, ،‫ﺕ ﺍﻟﻨﱠﻌﻴﻢﹺ‬
ِ ‫ﺟﻨﹼﺎ‬
َ ‫ﺇﻟﻰ‬
By Your mercy, O the most merciful biraħmatika yā 'arħamar-
of the merciful! rāħimīn, ،َ‫ﻢ ﺍﻟﺮّﺍﺣِﻤﻴﻦ‬
َ‫ﺣ‬
My Allah! Bless Muhammad and allāhumma šalli alā
the family of Muhammad, muħammadin wa āli ،ٍ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤﺪ‬
َ ‫ﻝ ُﻣ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
‫ﺻ ﱢ‬
‫ﻢ ﹶ‬
muħammad,
and estrange me from (the wa 'awħishnī minad-
attractions of) the world, and make dunyā wa ānisnī bil ‫ﺪﻧﹾﻴﺎ‬
َ ‫ﺣﺸﹾﻨﻲ ِﻣ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ﺃ ْﻭ‬
me familiar with (the affairs of) the ākhirah,
hereafter. ،ِ‫ﺧ َﺮﺓ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ﺁﹺﻧﺴْﻨﻲ ﺑﹺﺎﻵ‬
Certainly, nothing causes alienation fa 'innahu lā yūħishu
from this world except fear of You, minad-dunyā 'illā ،َ‫ﺧ ْﻮ ﹸﻓﻚ‬
‫ﻻ ﹶ‬
‫ﺪﻧﹾﻴﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
َ ‫ﺶ ِﻣ‬
‫ﺣ ﹸ‬
ِ ‫ﻓﹶﺈﱠﻧ ُﻪ ﻻ ﻳُﻮ‬
khawfuk,
and nothing causes to be accustomed wa lā yu'nisu bil ākhirati
to the hereafter except hope for Your 'illā rajā'uk, ،َ‫ﻻ ﺭَﺟﺂ ُﺅﻙ‬
‫ﺧ َﺮ ِﺓ ﺇ ﹼ‬
ِ ‫ﺲ ﺑﹺﺎﻵ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ ﻻ ُﻳ ْﺆﹺﻧ‬
(mercy).
O Allah! For You is the argument, allāhumma lakal ħujjatu

not against You, lā alayk, ،َ‫ﺠ ﹸﺔ ﻻ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴﻚ‬
‫ﺤﱠ‬ُ ‫ﻚ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
َ ‫ﻢ ﹶﻟ‬
and to You is complained, not from wa 'ilaykal mushtakā lā
You. mink, ،َ‫ﺸﺘﹶﻜﻰ ﻻ ِﻣ ﹾﻨﻚ‬
‫ﻚ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ﹾ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﺇﹶﻟ ْﻴ‬
Thus, bless Muhammad and his fašalli alā muħammadin
family, wa ālih, ‫ﺪ َﻭ ﺁِﻟ ِﻪ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
‫ﺼ ﱢ‬
‫ﹶﻓ ﹶ‬
and assist me against my unjust and wa 'ainnī alā nafsiyađ-
disobedient soul, đālimatil āšiyah, ،ِ‫ﺻ َﻴﺔ‬
ِ ‫ﻲ ﺍﻟﻈﹼﺎِﻟ َﻤ ِﺔ ﺍﻟﹾﻌﺎ‬
َ ‫ﺴ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ﺃ ِﻋﻨﹼﻲ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﹶﻧ ﹾﻔ‬
and my dominant desire. wa shahwatiyal ghālibah,
،ِ‫ﻲ ﺍﻟﹾﻐﺎِﻟ َﺒﺔ‬
َ ‫ﺷ ْﻬ َﻮِﺗ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶ‬
And conclude me with a safe and wakhtim lī bil āfiyah,
healthy end.
،ِ‫ﻢ ﻟﻲ ﺑﹺﺎﻟﹾﻌﺎ ِﻓ َﻴﺔ‬
ْ ‫ﺧ ِﺘ‬
‫ﻭَﺍ ﹾ‬
Part 4
O Allah! It is due to my allāhumma 'innastighfārī
shamelessness that I ask forgiveness 'iyyāka wa 'ana muširrun
‫ﺼ ﱞﺮ‬
ِ ‫ﻙ َﻭ ﺃﻧﹶﺎ ُﻣ‬
َ ‫ﺳ ِﺘﻐﹾﻔﺎﺭﻱ ﺇﻳّﺎ‬
ْ ‫ﻥﺍ‬
‫ﻢﺇ ﱠ‬
while I insist on what You have alā mā nahayta qillatu
forbidden. ħayā', ،‫ﺖ ِﻗ ﱠﻠ ﹸﺔ ﺣَﻴﺂﺀ‬
‫ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻣﺎﹶﻧ َﻬ ْﻴ ﹶ‬
On the other hand, if I do not ask for wa tarkiyal 'istighfāra
forgiveness with my knowledge of maa ilmī bisiati ħilmika ‫ﺴ َﻌ ِﺔ‬
ِ ‫ﻊ ِﻋﻠﹾﻤﻲ ﹺﺑ‬
َ ‫ﺳ ِﺘﻐﹾﻔﺎ َﺭ َﻣ‬
ْ‫ﻻ‬
ِ ‫ﻲﺍ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﹶﺗ ْﺮ ِﻛ‬
Your abundant forbearance, it will tađhyī'un liħaqqir-rajā'
be wasting the right of hope (to ،ِ‫ﻖ ﺍﻟﺮﱠﺟﺂﺀ‬
‫ﺤ ﱢ‬
َ ‫ﻊ ِﻟ‬
ٌ ‫ﻚ ﹶﺗﻀﹾﻴﻴ‬
َ ‫ﺣ ﹾﻠ ِﻤ‬
ِ
You).
My Allah! (due to my weak faith) allāhumma 'inna dhunūbi
my sins discourage me from tu'yisunī 'an 'arjūk, ‫ﻥ‬
ْ ‫ﻥ ﹸﺫﻧﹸﻮﺑﻲ ﹸﺗ ْﺆﹺﻳﺴُﻨﻲ ﺃ‬
‫ﻢﺇ ﱠ‬
requesting You,
،َ‫ﺟ َﻮﻙ‬
ُ ‫ﺃ ْﺭ‬
and my knowledge about Your vast wa inna ilmi bisiati
mercy prevents me from fearing rahmatika yamnaunī 'an ‫ﻚ َﻳ ْﻤ ﹶﻨﻌُﻨﻲ‬
ْ ‫ﺴ َﻌ ِﺔ َﺭ‬
ِ ‫ﻥ ِﻋﻠﹾﻤﻲ ﹺﺑ‬
‫َﻭ ﺇ ﱠ‬
You. 'akhshāk,
،َ‫ﻥ ﺃﺧﹾﺸﺎﻙ‬
ْ‫ﺃ‬
Thus, bless Muhammad and the fašalli alā muħammadin
َ ‫ﻝ ُﻣ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
‫ﺼ ﱢ‬
‫ﹶﻓ ﹶ‬
and confirm my hope in You, wa šaddiq rajā'ī lak,
،َ‫ﻕ ﺭَﺟﺎﺋﻲ ﹶﻟﻚ‬
ْ‫ﺪ‬‫ﺻﱢ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶ‬
negate my fear of You, wa kadh-dhib khawfi
mink, ،َ‫ﺧﻮْﻓﻲ ِﻣ ﹾﻨﻚ‬
‫ﺏ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫ﺬ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶﻛ ﱢ‬
and be for me according to the best wa kun lī inda 'aħsani
of what I expect and believe about đanni bika yā 'akramal ‫ﻚ ﻳﺎ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ﹶﻇﻨﹼﻲ ﹺﺑ‬
‫ﺴ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺣ‬
ْ ‫ﺪﺃ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ﻟﻲ ِﻋ ﹾﻨ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﹸﻛ‬
You, O the most generous of the 'akramīn
generous! ،َ‫ﺃ ﹾﻛ َﺮ َﻡ ﺍﻷ ﹾﻛﺮَﻣﻴﻦ‬
O Allah! Bless Muhammad and the allāhumma šalli alā

family of Muhammad, and support muħammadin wa āli ‫ﺪ َﻭ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻝ ُﻣ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
‫ﺻ ﱢ‬
‫ﻢ ﹶ‬
me by protection (from sins), muħammadin, wa 'ayyidnī
bil išmah, ،ِ‫ﺼ َﻤﺔ‬
‫ﺃﱢﻳﺪْﻧﻲ ﺑﹺﺎﹾﻟ ِﻌ ﹾ‬
Make my tongue speak wisdom, wa 'anţiq lisānī bil
ħikmah, ،ِ‫ﻜ َﻤﺔ‬
‫ﺤﹾ‬ِ ‫ﻖ ﻟِﺴﺎﻧﻲ ﺑﹺﺎﹾﻟ‬
ْ ‫ﻄ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ﺃﹾﻧ‬
Place me among those who regret wajalnī mimman yandamu
what they wasted yesterday, alā mā đhayyaahu fī ‫ﺿ ﱠﻴ َﻌ ُﻪ‬
‫ﺪ ُﻡ ﻋَﻠﻰ ﻣﺎ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﻦ َﻳ ﹾﻨ‬
ْ ‫ﺟ َﻌﻠﹾﻨﻲ ِﻣ ﱠﻤ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﺍ‬
'amsih,
،ِ‫ﺴﻪ‬
ِ ‫ﻓﻲ ﺃ ْﻣ‬
do not aggrieve their portion today, wa lā yaghbanu ħađđahu
fī yawmih, ،ِ‫ﻈ ُﻪ ﻓﻲ َﻳ ْﻮ ِﻣﻪ‬
‫ﺣﱠ‬َ ‫ﻦ‬
ُ ‫َﻭ ﻻ َﻳ ﹾﻐ َﺒ‬
and do not worry about the wa lā yahummu lirizqi
sustenance of tomorrow. ghadih, ،ِ‫ﺪﻩ‬
ِ ‫ﻕ ﹶﻏ‬
‫ﻢ ِﻟ ﹺﺮ ﹾﺯ ﹺ‬
‫َﻭ ﻻ َﻳ ُﻬ ﱡ‬
O Allah! Certainly, rich is he who allāhumma 'innal
suffices himself with You and ghaniyya manistaghnā ‫ﻚ َﻭ‬
َ ‫ﺳ ﹶﺘﻐﹾﻨﻰ ﹺﺑ‬
ْ ‫ﻦﺍ‬
‫ﻲ َﻣ ﹺ‬
‫ﻥ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻐ ﹺﻨ ﱠ‬
‫ﻢﺇ ﱠ‬
considers himself in need of You, bika waftaqara 'ilayk,
،َ‫ﺍ ﹾﻓ ﹶﺘ ﹶﻘ َﺮ ﺇﹶﻟ ْﻴﻚ‬
and poor is he who feels that he can wal faqīra manistaghnā
suffice himself through Your bikhalqika anka, ،َ‫ﻚ َﻋ ﹾﻨﻚ‬
َ ‫ﺨ ﹾﻠ ِﻘ‬
‫ﺳ ﹶﺘﻐﹾﻨﻰ ﹺﺑ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫ﻦﺍ‬
‫َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟﻔﹶﻘﻴ َﺮ َﻣ ﹺ‬
creation without You.
َ ‫ﻝ ُﻣ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
‫ﺼ ﱢ‬
‫ﹶﻓ ﹶ‬
and suffice me from Your creation wa 'aghninī an khalqika
by Yourself, bik, ،َ‫ﻚ ﹺﺑﻚ‬
َ ‫ﺧ ﹾﻠ ِﻘ‬
‫ﻦ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﺃ ﹾﻏﻨﹺﻨﻲ َﻋ‬
and put me amongst those who do wajalnī mimman lā
not extend their hand except towards yabsuţu kaffan 'illā 'ilayk, ‫ﻻ‬
‫ﻂ ﹶﻛ ﹼﻔ ﹰﺎ ﺇ ﹼ‬
‫ﺴ ﹸ‬
ُ ‫ﻦ ﻻ َﻳ ْﺒ‬
ْ ‫ﺟ َﻌﻠﹾﻨﻲ ِﻣ ﱠﻤ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﺍ‬
You.
،َ‫ﺇﹶﻟ ْﻴﻚ‬
Part 5
My Allah! Certainly, wretched is he allāhumma 'innash-
who despairs while repentance is shaqiyya man qanaţa wa ‫ﻂ َﻭ ﺃﻣﺎ َﻣ ُﻪ‬
‫ﻦ ﹶﻗ ﹶﻨ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫ﻲ َﻣ‬
‫ﺸ ِﻘ ﱠ‬
‫ﻥ ﺍﻟ ﱠ‬
‫ﻢﺇ ﱠ‬
placed before him and mercy is after 'amāmahut-tawbatu wa
him, warā'ahur-rahmah, ،‫ﺣ َﻤﺔﹸ‬
ْ ‫ﺍﻟ ﱠﺘ ْﻮَﺑ ﹸﺔ َﻭ ﻭَﺭﺁ َﺀ ُﻩ ﺍﻟ ﱠﺮ‬
Even though I have been weak in wa 'in kuntu đhaīfal amali
action, I have strong hope in Your fa 'innī fī raħmatika ‫ﻞ ﻓﹶﺈ ﻧﹼﻲ ﻓﻲ‬
‫ﻒ ﺍﹾﻟ َﻌ َﻤ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﺖ ﺿﹶﻌﻴ‬
‫ﻥ ﹸﻛ ﹾﻨ ﹸ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﺇ‬
mercy, qawiyyal 'amal,
،‫ﻱ ﺍﻷ َﻣﻞﹺ‬
‫ﻚ ﹶﻗ ﹺﻮ ﱡ‬
ْ ‫َﺭ‬
Thus, forgive the weakness of my fahab lī đhafa amalī
action in light of the strength of my liquwwati 'amalī, ،‫ﻒ َﻋﻤَﻠﻲ ِﻟ ﹸﻘ ﱠﻮ ِﺓ ﺃﻣَﻠﻲ‬
َ ‫ﺿ ْﻌ‬
‫ﺐ ﻟﻲ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫ﹶﻓ َﻬ‬
hope.
O Allah! Even if You know there is allāhumma 'in kunta

no one amongst Your servants with talamu 'an mā fī 'ibādika ‫ﻥ ﻣﺎ ﻓﻲ‬
ْ ‫ﻢﺃ‬
ُ ‫ﺖ ﹶﺗ ْﻌ ﹶﻠ‬
‫ﻥ ﹸﻛ ﹾﻨ ﹶ‬
ْ ‫ﻢﺇ‬
harder heart and greater sins than man huwa 'aqsā qalban
mine, minnī wa 'ađamu minnī ‫ﻦ ُﻫ َﻮ ﺃﻗﹾﺴﻰ ﹶﻗﻠﹾﺒ ﹰﺎ ِﻣﻨﹼﻲ َﻭ‬
ْ ‫ﻙ َﻣ‬
َ ‫ﻋِﺒﺎ ِﺩ‬
dhanbā,
،‫ﻢ ِﻣﻨﹼﻲ ﹶﺫﻧﹾﺒﺎﹰ‬
ُ‫ﻈ‬
‫ﺃ ْﻋ ﹶ‬
I certainly know that there is no fa 'innī 'alamu 'annahu lā
master more generous than You, mawlā 'ađamu minka ‫ﻚ‬
َ ‫ﻢ ِﻣ ﹾﻨ‬
ُ‫ﻈ‬
‫ﻢ ﺃﱠﻧ ُﻪ ﻻ َﻣﻮْﻟﻰ ﺃ ْﻋ ﹶ‬
ُ ‫ﻓﹶﺈ ﻧﹼﻲ ﺃ ْﻋ ﹶﻠ‬
ţawlā,
،‫ﹶﻃﻮْﻻ‬
with greater mercy and forgiveness. wa 'awsau raħmatan wa
afwā, ،‫ﺣ َﻤ ﹰﺔ َﻭ َﻋﻔﹾﻮﺍﹰ‬
ْ ‫ﻊ َﺭ‬
ُ‫ﺳ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﺃ ْﻭ‬
Then, O He Who is unique in His fayā man huwa 'awħadu fī
mercy! raħmatih, ،ِ‫ﺣ َﻤ ِﺘﻪ‬
ْ ‫ﺪ ﻓﻲ َﺭ‬
ُ‫ﺣ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ُﻫ َﻮ ﺃ ْﻭ‬
ْ ‫ﻓﹶﻴﺎ َﻣ‬
Forgive him, who is not unique in 'ighfir liman laysa bi
his mistakes. 'awħada fī khaţī'atih, ،ِ‫ﺪ ﻓﻲ ﺧﹶﻄﻴ ﹶﺌ ِﺘﻪ‬
َ‫ﺣ‬
َ ‫ﺲ ﺑﹺﺄ ْﻭ‬
َ ‫ﻦ ﹶﻟ ْﻴ‬
ْ ‫ﺇ ﹾﻏ ِﻔ ْﺮ ِﻟ َﻤ‬
O Allah! Certainly, You allāhumma 'innaka
commanded us, but we have 'amartanā faašaynā, ،‫ﺼﻴْﻨﺎ‬
‫ﻚ ﺃ َﻣ ْﺮﺗﹶﻨﺎ ﹶﻓ َﻌ ﹶ‬
َ ‫ﻢ ﺇﱠﻧ‬
disobeyed,
forbade us, but we did not desist, wa nahayta
famantahaynā, ،‫ﺖ ﹶﻓﻤَﺎ ﺍﹾﻧ ﹶﺘ َﻬﻴْﻨﺎ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶﻧ َﻬ ْﻴ ﹶ‬
reminded us, but we remained wa dhakkarta
unmindful, fatanāsaynā, ،‫ﺳﻴْﻨﺎ‬
َ ‫ﺕ ﹶﻓﺘﹶﻨﺎ‬
‫َﻭ ﹶﺫ ﱠﻛ ْﺮ ﹶ‬
enlightened us, but we behaved wa baššarta fataāmaynā,
blindly,
،‫ﺕ ﹶﻓﺘﹶﻌﺎ َﻣﻴْﻨﺎ‬
‫ﺼ ْﺮ ﹶ‬
‫َﻭ َﺑ ﱠ‬
and warned us, but we transgressed. wa ħadh-dharta
fataaddaynā, ،‫ﺪﻳْﻨﺎ‬
‫ﺕ ﹶﻓ ﹶﺘ َﻌ ﱠ‬
‫ﺬ ْﺭ ﹶ‬
‫ﺣﱠ‬
َ ‫َﻭ‬
This was not the repayment of Your wa mā kāna dhālika
kindness to us, jazā'a 'ihsānika 'ilaynā, ،‫ﻚ ﺇﹶﻟﻴْﻨﺎ‬
َ ‫ﻚ ﺟَﺰﺁ َﺀ ﺇﺣْﺴﺎﹺﻧ‬
َ ‫ﻥ ﺫِﻟ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﻣﺎ ﻛﺎ‬
and You know what we have wa 'anta 'alamu bimā
disclosed and have concealed, 'alannā wa 'akhfaynā, ،‫ﺧ ﹶﻔﻴْﻨﺎ‬
‫ﻢ ﺑﹺﻤﺎ ﺃ ْﻋ ﹶﻠﻨﹼﺎ َﻭ ﺃ ﹾ‬
ُ ‫ﺖ ﺃ ْﻋ ﹶﻠ‬
and You are aware of what we will wa 'akhbaru bimā na'tī wa
do and have done. mā 'ataynā, ،‫ﺧ َﺒ ُﺮ ﺑﹺﻤﺎ ﹶﻧﺄﹾﺗﻲ َﻭ ﻣﺎ ﺃﹶﺗﻴْﻨﺎ‬
‫َﻭ ﺃ ﹾ‬
َ ‫ﻝ ُﻣ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
‫ﺼ ﱢ‬
‫ﹶﻓ ﹶ‬
and pardon us for our mistakes and wa lā tu'ākhidhnā bimā
our forgetfulness, 'akhta'nā wa nasīnā, ،‫ﻄﺄﹾﻧﺎ َﻭ ﻧﹶﺴﻴﻨﺎ‬
‫ﺧﹶ‬‫ﺧﺬﹾﻧﺎ ﺑﹺﻤﺎ ﺃ ﹾ‬
ِ ‫َﻭ ﻻ ﺗﹸﺆﺍ‬
forgive us the negligence of Your wa hab lanā ħuqūqaka
rights by us, ladaynā, ،‫ﺪﻳْﻨﺎ‬
َ ‫ﻚ ﹶﻟ‬
َ ‫ﺣﻘﹸﻮ ﹶﻗ‬
ُ ‫ﺐ ﻟﹶﻨﺎ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ َﻫ‬
complete Your beneficence towards wa 'atimma 'iħsānaka
us, 'ilaynā, ،‫ﻚ ﺇﹶﻟﻴْﻨﺎ‬
َ ‫ﻢ ﺇﺣْﺴﺎﹶﻧ‬
‫َﻭ ﺃِﺗ ﱠ‬
and cause Your mercy to descend wa 'asbil raħmataka
upon us. alaynā, ،‫ﻚ َﻋ ﹶﻠﻴْﻨﺎ‬
َ ‫ﺣ َﻤ ﹶﺘ‬
ْ ‫ﻞ َﺭ‬
‫ﺳ ﹺﺒ ﹾ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﺃ‬
Part 6
My Allah! We seek nearness to You allāhumma 'innā
by means of this truthful Imam, natawassalu 'ilayka ‫ﻖ‬
‫ﺼﺪّﻳ ﹺ‬
‫ﻚ ﺑﹺﻬﺬﹶﺍ ﺍﻟ ﱢ‬
َ ‫ﻞ ﺇﹶﻟ ْﻴ‬
‫ﺳ ﹸ‬
‫ﻢ ﺇﻧﹼﺎ ﹶﻧ ﹶﺘ َﻮ ﱠ‬
bihādhaš-šiddīqil 'imām,
،‫ﺍﻹﻣﺎﻡﹺ‬
and request You by the rights that wa nas'aluka bil ħaqqil-
You have placed for him, his ladhi jaaltahu lah wa ‫ﺟ َﻌ ﹾﻠ ﹶﺘ ﹸﺔ ﹶﻟ ُﻪ َﻭ‬
َ ‫ﻖ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ‬
‫ﺤ ﱢ‬
َ ‫ﻚ ﺑﹺﺎﹾﻟ‬
َ ‫ﺴ ﹶﺌ ﹸﻠ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ ﹶﻧ‬

fāţimata 'ahli baytir-

an abundant flow of livelihood that 'idrārar-rizqil-lladhi bihī
maintains our life and the welfare of qiwāmu ħayātinā, wa
‫ﻕ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﹺﺑ ِﻪ ﻗِﻮﺍ ُﻡ ﺣَﻴﺎﺗِﻨﺎ َﻭ‬
‫ﺇﺩْﺭﺍ َﺭ ﺍﻟ ﱢﺮ ﹾﺯ ﹺ‬
our dependents. šalāħu 'aħwāli iyālinā,
،‫ﻝ ﻋِﻴﺎﻟِﻨﺎ‬
‫ﺡ ﺃﺣْﻮﺍ ﹺ‬
ُ ‫ﺻﹶﻼ‬
Certainly You are the generous one fa 'antal karīmul-ladhi tuţī
who grants abundantly, min siah, ،ٍ‫ﺳ َﻌﺔ‬
ِ ‫ﻦ‬
ْ ‫ﻢ ﺍﻟﱠﺬﻱ ﹸﺗﻌْﻄﻲ ِﻣ‬
ُ ‫ﺖ ﺍﹾﻟﻜﹶﺮﻳ‬

and holds back having power (to wa tamnau min qudrah
fulfill).

We request from You a livelihood wa naħnu nas'aluka
that brings the goodness of this minar-rizqi mā yakūnu ‫ﻥ‬
ُ ‫ﻕ ﻣﺎَﻳﻜﹸﻮ‬
‫ﻦ ﺍﻟ ﱢﺮ ﹾﺯ ﹺ‬
َ ‫ﻚ ِﻣ‬

world and the pleasure of the šalāhan liddunyā wa

ِ ‫ﺪﻧﹾﻴﺎ َﻭ ﺑَﻼﻏ ﹰﺎ ﻟِﻶ‬
‫ﺻﹶﻼﺣ ﹰﺎ ﻟِﻠ ﱡ‬
O Allah! Bless Muhammad and the allāhumma šalli alā
family of Muhammad, muħammadin wa āli ،ٍ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤﺪ‬
َ ‫ﻝ ُﻣ‬
ٍ ‫ﺤ ﱠﻤ‬
‫ﺻ ﱢ‬
‫ﻢ ﹶ‬
muħammad,
and forgive me, my parents, waghfir lanā wa
liwālidaynā, ،‫ﺪﻳْﻨﺎ‬
َ ‫َﻭ ﺍ ﹾﻏ ِﻔ ْﺮﻟﹶﻨﺎ َﻭ ﻟِﻮﺍِﻟ‬
all the believing men and women, wa lijamīil-mu'minīna wal
mu'mināt, ،ِ‫ﻦ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ْﺆﻣِﻨﺎﺕ‬
َ ‫ﻊ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ ْﺆﻣِﻨﻴ‬
‫َﻭ ِﻟﺠَﻤﻴ ﹺ‬
and the submissive men and women, wal muslimīna wal
muslimāt, ،ِ‫ﺴﻠِﻤﺎﺕ‬
ْ ‫ﻦ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ‬
َ ‫ﺴﻠِﻤﻴ‬
ْ ‫ﻭَﺍﹾﻟ ُﻤ‬
the living of them and the dead. al 'aħyā'i minhum wal
'amwāt, ،ِ‫ﻢ َﻭ ﺍﻷﻣْﻮﺍﺕ‬
ْ ‫ﺍﻷﺣْﻴﺎ ِﺀ ِﻣ ﹾﻨ ُﻬ‬
Give us good in this world and good wa ātinā fid-dunyā
in the hereafter, and shield us from ħasanatan wa fil ākhirati
‫ﺧ َﺮ ِﺓ‬
ِ ‫ﺴ ﹶﻨ ﹰﺔ َﻭ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻵ‬
َ ‫ﺣ‬
َ ‫ﺪﻧﹾﻴﺎ‬
‫َﻭ ﺁﺗِﻨﺎ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻟ ﱡ‬
the torment of the fire.[1] ħasanatan wa qinā
adhāban-nār. .‫ﺏ ﺍﻟﻨﹼﺎ ﹺﺭ‬
َ ‫ﺴ ﹶﻨ ﹰﺔ َﻭ ﻗِﻨﺎ ﻋَﺬﺍ‬
َ ‫ﺣ‬

Then, complete your prayer, and recite
Tasbihat (of Lady Fatima(PBUH)), and then ‫ﺛﻢ ﺗﺮﻛﻊ ﻭ ﺗﺴﺠﺪ ﻭ ﺗﺠﻠﺲ ﻭ‬
place the side of you face on the ground and
say the following forty times: ‫ﺗﺘﺸﻬﺪ ﻭ ﺗﺴﻠﻢ ﻓﺈﺫﺍ ﺳﺒﺤﺖ ﻓﻌﻔﺮ‬
:‫ﺧﺪﻳﻚ ﻭ ﻗﻞ ﺃﺭﺑﻌﻴﻦ ﻣﺮﺓ‬
Glory be to Allah! Praise be to subħānal-lāhi wal

Allah! There is no deity but Allah! ħamdulil-lāhi wa lā 'ilāha ‫ﻻ‬
‫ﷲ َﻭ ﻻ ﺇﻟ َﻪ ﺇ ﱠ‬
ِ ‫ﺪ‬
ُ ‫ﺤ ْﻤ‬
َ ‫ﷲ َﻭ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
ِ ‫ﻥﺍ‬
َ ‫ﺳﺒْﺤﺎ‬

Allah is greater (than being 'illal-lāhu wal-lāhu akbar,
described). ‫ﷲ ﺃ ﹾﻛ َﺒ ُﺮ‬
ُ ‫ﷲ َﻭ ﺍ‬
ُ ‫ﺍ‬
Following that, ask Allah for protection,
salvation, forgiveness, success in ‫ﻭ ﺍﺳﺄﻝ ﺍﷲ ﺍﻟﻌﺼﻤﺔ ﻭ ﺍﻟﻨﺠﺎﺓ ﻭ‬
performing good deeds, and the acceptance
of the actions that you do to seek His
nearness and perform for His sake.
‫ﺍﻟﻤﻐﻔﺮﺓ ﻭ ﺍﻟﺘﻮﻓﻴﻖ ﺑﺤﺴﻦ ﺍﻟﻌﻤﻞ ﻭ‬
Then, embrace the inner shrine, kiss it, and
say:
‫ﺍﻟﻘﺒﻮﻝ ﻟﻤﺎ ﺗﺘﻘﺮﺏ ﺑﻪ ﺇﻟﻴﻪ ﻭ ﺗﺒﺘﻐﻲ ﺑﻪ‬
‫ﻭﺟﻬﻪ ﺛﻢ ﺍﻧﻜﺐ ﻋﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻘﺒﺮ ﻭ ﻗﺒّﻠﻪ ﻭ‬
:‫ﻗﻞ‬
May Allah increase your honor. zādal-lāhu fī sharafikum,
Peace be upon you, the mercy of was-salāmu alaykum wa ‫ﻢ‬
ْ‫ﻜ‬
‫ َﻭ ﺍﻟﺴﱠﻼ ُﻡ َﻋ ﹶﻠ ْﻴ ﹸ‬،ْ‫ﻜﻢ‬
‫ﺷ َﺮ ِﻓ ﹸ‬
‫ﷲ ﻓﻲ ﹶ‬
ُ ‫ﺯﺍ َﺩ ﺍ‬
Allah, and His blessings. raħmatul-lāhi wa
barakātuh. .ُ‫ﷲ َﻭ َﺑﺮَﻛﺎﹸﺗﻪ‬
ِ ‫ﺣ َﻤ ﹸﺔ ﺍ‬
ْ ‫َﻭ َﺭ‬
Finally, pray for yourself, your parents and
for whomever else you wish. ‫ﻭ ﺍﺩﻉ ﻟﻨﻔﺴﻚ ﻭ ﻟﻮﺍﻟﺪﻳﻚ ﻭ ﻟﻤﻦ‬

Imam Mahdi (PBUH) said, “I pray for any believer who remembers the
sufferings of my martyred grandfather, al-Husain (PBUH), and then prays
for my relief (al-Faraj)” [2]

Documentation of the Ziyarat
The text of the Ziyarat al-Nahiya is found in some early Ziyarat collections such as al-Mazar al-
Kabir, by Muhammad Ibn Ja’far al-Mash’hadi, pp. 496-513. It is also reported in al-Mazar, by
al-Mufid as mentioned in Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 98, pp. 318-329.
It is noteworthy that Sayyid Ibn Tawus (d. 664 AH) in his Misbah al-Za’ir reports another
Ziyarat, which has some common parts with Ziyarat al-Nahiya. However, this Ziyarat has not
been attributed to the Imam (PBUH), and has been only ascribed to Sayyid Murtadha (d. 436 AH).
As al-Majlisi mentioned in Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 98, p. 251, although these variations might have
been due to different narrations, yet this Ziyarat is apparently the composition of Sayyid
Murtadha (RA) who used a part of original Ziyarat al-Nahiya, made some changes to it, added
some phrases from other Ziyarats, and used to recite it as his own Ziyarat.

[1] It should be noted that there is another Ziyarat known as al-Nahiya, which focuses
on the Ziyarat of other martyrs of Karbala, specifying the names of the companions of
Imam al-Husain (PBUH). However, as mentioned by al-Majlisi, the time mentioned in
the documentation of the Hadith as the time of its release is four years before the time
of the birth of Imam al-Mahdi (PBUH). Assuming that it was not a transcription error,
that particular Ziyarat may have been transmitted by Imam Hasan al-
Askari (PBUH) (Imam Mahdi’s father, the eleventh Imam), not Imam Mahdi (PBUH). In
that case, al-Nahiya al-Muqaddasa (the sacred place) refers to the house of Imam
Hasan al-Askari (PBUH) in Samarra.

Peace be upon Jacob (Ya’qub), assalāmu alā yaqūbal-ladhī raddal-

Peace be upon John (Yahya), assalāmu alā yħayal-ladhī 'azlafahul-

Peace be upon the places of assalāmu alā manāzilil barāhīn,

Peace be upon the inhabitant of assalāmu alā sākinit-turbatiz-

Peace be upon the butchered assalāmu alal badanis-salīb,

You safeguarded the right path taħūţul hudā wa tanšuruh,

You possessed plentiful merits, kathīral manāqib, maħmūdađh-

even when tyranny became ħattā 'idhal jowru madda bāah,

Therefore, you resisted them fa jāhadtahum badal 'īāzi lahum

Neither they respected your wa lam yaraw laka dhimāmā,

while trapped by yourself wa qad shughilta binafsika an

bound with iron chains atop wa šuffidū fil ħadīdi fawqa

And with your loss, call for wa fuqida bi faqdikat-

The skies and their inhabitants wa bakatis-samā'u wa

By Fatima, the chief of women wa bi fāţimata sayyidati

that You dispel from me all 'an takshifa mā bī minal

Nor any evil but that You wa lā sharran 'illā kafaytah,

my deeds elevated and wa amalī indaka marfūā,

There is no deity but Allah, the Lord lā 'ilāha 'llal-lāhu rabbus-

and my recognition of his status. wa ilmī bimanzilatih,

sufficiency from people, wa ghinan anil khalq,

O Allah! For You is the argument, allāhumma lakal ħujjatu

O Allah! Even if You know there is allāhumma 'in kunta

Glory be to Allah! Praise be to subħānal-lāhi wal
