CUSTOMER PROCESS SUMMARY
1. Contact Oracle account manager (for
existing PMS installations) or local
Schneider Electric representative (for

representative will provide a quote for
the license and installation time.
3. Send purchase order to Oracle.
4. Oracle project manager arranges
installation date and time. Liaise
with Schneider Electric to ensure a
SmartStruxure solution installation
engineer is available on the same date.
5. Installation is carried out on the agreed
date – usually remotely but may be
done on site, especially if a new build is
involved.

Simplified management of networked room controllers installed
in a hotel is now possible with SmartStruxure™ solution Building
Management System (BMS). Complex information from a
Property Management System (PMS) about room occupancy
is integrated with information from the BMS’s software,
StruxureWare Building Operation (SBO), which allows operators
to control and monitor all critical information about the
guestrooms in their hotel from a single dashboard.
Integration with Micros FIAS-based PMS
Schneider Electric™ has integrated with the most widely used PMS in the
industry, Micros Fidelio and Micros Opera. Micros, a subsidiary of Oracle,
is the developer of the Opera PMS and Fidelio PMS software suites. Both
suites offer the Fidelio Interface Application Specification (FIAS) which allows
integration to third-party systems.
SBO integrates with a FIAS PMS solution and extracts specific critical
information from the PMS, and uses it to help manage the occupancy status
of the rooms.
A license purchased from Oracle/Micros is required to get this interface
enabled for a PMS. The associated cost will vary from customer to customer,
depending on their agreement with Oracle.

Value Proposition
By integrating their PMS system with the SmartStruxure solution BMS, hotel
operators are ensuring greater guest comfort and satisfaction while enabling
greater energy efficiency. In fact, when a room is newly rented, the PMS will
provide information to the SmartStruxure solution about whether the room
is rented or not, the guest name, the guest’s preferred language, and the
duration of stay.
For example, this information will enable the SmartStruuxre solution to
immediately instruct the SE8000 room controllers to switch from unrented
to rented mode, to switch from deep temperature setback mode to standby
mode, to pre-cool or pre-heat the room before the guest enters to change the
SE8000 user interface to the guests preferred language and even greet him
with a personalized greeting such as, “Welcome Mr. Smith.”

System Architecture

The PMS system interface is a middleware application that
enables communication between Micros Fidelio and Opera
booking system applications with StruxureWare Building
Operation via EWS. Each room in the PMS is represented in
the StruxureWare Building Operation model of the PMS. PMS
attributes configured in the interface may be used to implement
custom sequences a multi state value indicates the number of
persons checked into a room as well as information for the guest
name, language and expected departure date.
The interface can fully represent items in the PMS system with
data synchronisation between the two systems. This ensures the
database is maintained and kept up to date without any user
intervention.
Key Features
The Hotel PMS connects with Micros Fidelio and Opera Property Management
Systems and utilises the FIAS Protocol over IP. This enables interaction
between room state and BMS for enhanced occupant comfort and energy
savings. In addition, the PMS runs on both the Enterprise Server and
Automation server using EWS.
Hotel PMS Interface
The PMS System Interface is available as part of a solution package from the
Integration Solutions Centre. The interface uses the FIAS protocol standard,
allowing for easy integration with Hotel systems.
Linked rooms can operate as individual rooms allowing for check-in and check-
out messages to be received for both rooms and the room state updated
accordingly.

Within SBO, a dashboard template has been developed to make it easier for an operator to manage an entire network of room
controllers. When connecting to SBO, the operator will be taken to a general view of his hotel installation, where each floor is
represented by a separate icon that displays basic aggregate information about that floor including average temperature and
current occupancy levels. The operator can select an individual floor in order to access more granular information about the current
occupancy status, temperature and setpoints for each guestroom on the floor. All of these functions are customizable so that the
number of floors and guestrooms per floor match those of the hotel being managed
Dashboard Overview
The main Energy Management Dashboard view allows an operator to get an overview of the occupancy and average temperature
information for each floor of the entire building.

Clicking on one of the floors in the main dashboard display brings up the dashboard for that floor, where the operator can access
widgets that provide data about individual guestrooms and allow for the management of the room controllers in those rooms.
