• Yarn needle for sewing.
• Poly-fil.
• Scissors.

Page 1
• FPhdc= Front post half double crochet

Notes:
• How to do back post/front post, you’ll insert your hook from front to back (front
post) or back to front (back post), and work around the post of the stitch, then
complete the stitch as normal. If you still need help learning FP/BPhdc YouTube
has a lot of learning videos that can teach you step by step.

• This pattern comes with 2 games! First game is a lady bug and leaf game. The
lady bugs for the leaf game are smaller. The player will count the dots on the
back of the lady bugs and match it to the correct leaf. The second game the lady
bugs are bigger, and the numbers are on the belly, they would count the dots and
check underneath if they were correct.

• For the lady bugs, leaf border, and numbers feel free to use any colors you like,
you don’t have to use the same as I did. In this pattern I made 6 lady bugs for the
leaf game and 10 for the belly lady bug game, feel free to make any amount you
like. Photo below shows size difference in lady bugs (left is leaf game right is
belly numbers game).

• For more pictures of different colors you can use on the last page I posted
pictures from my awesome testers! You can also make it your own by changing
the leaf colors and making them look like fall leaves or like a sunflower petal like
one of my testers did!

Lady bugs- Use 4.25mm hook for leaf game and use 5.50mm hook for belly
number game. You will be working in a continuous circle. Ch 1 doesn’t count as a stitch.
For leaf game make same amount of lady bugs as dots (for example 1 dot 1 ladybug, 2
dots make two lady bugs, etc.). For belly game make 1 of each color till you reach the
amount you like.

Dots- NOTE: I used felt for my dots and glued on with a glue gun, the felt dots I made
are about the size of a pea. If you do not want to use felt you can crochet the dots.
Below is how to make the crochet version.
Using black and 3.75mm hook. Make a dot for each number of spots needed for
ladybug.
R1. Create MC and ch 1, 3 sc into circle, sl st circle closed. FO leave long tail for
sewing. Sew on lady bug. For multiple dots make sure you leave spaces in between.

Head- Using black and 4.25mm hook.

For leaf game:
R1. Create a MC, 4 sc into circle (4 sc). Continue working in a circle.
R2. 2 sc around (8 sc).
R3. Sc around (8 sc). FO leave long tail for sewing.

For belly game:

R1. Create a MC, 6 sc into circle (6 sc). Continue working in a circle.

Sewing-
• Take line and sew onto lady bug attaching line on one side of the body and go across
(going over the middle of the lady bug) to other side. FO sew in ends.
• Take head and sew onto one side of the lady bug on top of the line, stuffing lightly.
• Sew/glue dots on lady bugs (1-10 dots or however many number of lady bugs you
made).
• For antenna: Take string (about 3 inches long) sew string though top middle of head,
knot string. Take sewing needle and separate antenna by pulling one side of each string
though a stitch to the left and right of where you knotted string. Trim as needed.

Leaf- 5mm and 6mm hook, green yarn and border/number color.

Note: Border color will be the color you used for your lady bugs. Make one leaf for each
“group” of ladybugs you make.
R1. With green and 5mm hook chain 8, hdc into 2nd ch from the hook and across. (7
hdc). Ch 1 and turn.

your ladybug).
R26. Using 6mm hook sc (not to tight), around leaf. FO and
sew in ends.

Page 6
Numbers- For leaves game use 5mm hook, for belly game use 3.75m hook and
colors that match your ladybug. I am showing 1-10 since that’s what I made. If you don’t
want to chain and sew on you can sl st, embroider, or use felt to make your numbers.

For leaves 5mm hook.

Number 1. Chain 10, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 2. Chain 25, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 3. Chain 30, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 4. Chain 10, FO leave long tail for sewing. (Make 2).
Number 5. Chain 24, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 6. Chain 25, FO leave long tail for sewing.

For belly game 3.75mm hook.

Number 1. Chain 5, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 2. Chain 15, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 3. Chain 20, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 4. Chain 8, FO leave long tail for sewing. (Make 2).
Number 5. Chain 15, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 6. Chain 18, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 7. Chain 12, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 8. Chain 21, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 9. Chain 16, FO leave long tail for sewing.
Number 10. Chain 5 (For 1) chain 15 (for 0), FO leave long tail for sewing.

Sewing on numbers- Use chains from each number and sew the number on to
the leaf or belly (depending on what game you’re making). Pictures below to help show
how I made the numbers using arrows. You can also glue on the letters if that is easier
than sewing. If you do make more than 9 lady bugs add a small line under the 6 so it
doesn’t get confused for the 9.

Page 7
That’s it you’re finished! To play the leaf game you count the spots on the ladybug, and
you match it to the same number leaf. For the Belly number game, you can have kids
place the numbers in order or play “find the number”.

Here are more examples of different colors you can use, these are just a few pictures
from my awesome testers! Chantelle Britton, Lorrayne Hurlbut, Connie Thompson, Kristin
Rouse, and Vandy Wright.
