If you like Jewish food: rosenstein.hu/ they are famous for their traditional Hungarian fish
dishes but they are closed on Mondays I believe.
Sites to see: venture up to the Buda castle (halászbástya). The panoramic view of the city is
incredible.
The parliament and the surrounding area are also worth taking a walk. The river side is
gorgeous, especially at night.
A very romantic walk along the river is a place called a bálna : www.balnabudapest.hu/?
lang=en they have events as well especially during the Christmas season. They have little
tables for 2 along the riverside of the walk. A great “dating” area for you and your wife if
you chose to do so.
Vaci utca. itself is the largest tourist “street” there is. You can find good food, drink, and
shopping there. welovebudapest.com/hely/vaci-utca-2/ You can also venture into the Ice
bar located on this street (it's a bar made out of complete ice where you can enjoy a drink
or two).
You can also take a relaxing boat ride along the Duna. If you have a monthly pass to use
mass transit, some of these boats are included, you just have to ask which ones they are.
You can also venture up to the gellért hegy but I would do this by car. If you like to walk/hike
than this could be enjoyable as well. At the foot of this hill is a church cut into the mountain
(if you are religious). welovebudapest.com/hely/gellert-hegy-2/
You may enjoy the several bath houses in the city. The most famous one (also the most
expensive) Széchenyi : www.szechenyibath.hu/ On this same webpage you can access all of
the bath houses and chose the one you like. If you will be venturing up the gellért hegy, they
have a bath house at the foot as well (across from the church I mentioned).
Hösök tere ( hero square) is also a must. Behind the square walk the area, they have ice
skating on the open pond (if you have children they would love this). A small “island” behind
the pond with beautiful architecture buildings. BTW Széchenyi bath house is located near
here, so you could make a one day excursion in this one place. There are also 2 beautiful
restaurants located next to the pond which is very romantic as well. The
circus/zoo/amusement park are also located in this same place. All with in walking
distance. welovebudapest.com/hely/hosok-tere-2/
If you are in the Váci utca/bazilika/Christmas bazar area, the most famous piac (flee market)
is located at the opposite end (by the szabadság bridge) of this tourist street. 2 floors of
food, drink, cloths, trinkets, and many items worth seeing.
Another very romantic dinner option would be on the Danu. There are several stationary
boats that you can enjoy. One is an actual disco at night, if you would like to go dancing. My
children surprised me for my birthday on this boat, I highly recommend
it: spoon.restaurant/en/
As always, make sure you have reservations for everything because it's the tourist season. If
you need anything else or have any questions and I can help just let me know. Who knows…
maybe you can convince your family to move. :)
Have a coffee or drink in the lobby of Hotel Párisi Udivar. You’ll be glad you did!
Recommended walk:
1. Walk up the world heritage street Andrassy út at least up to Oktogon or better. You will pass
the Opera (mostly covered), but I think it is possible to go inside and have a look. Also world
heritage.
2. Continue down to the St. Stephen Basilica *), down Zrínyi utca, turn right at the 6. of
October utca. Continue all the way to the Reagan statue at the Liberty Square. *) It is very
popular to to buy the iconic hand made rose icecream and take the classical Insta-photo of
you and the icecream with the Cathedral as a backdrop. Buy the icecream here
3. The head over to the spectacular parliament.
4. Not a must, but If you feel for it you could follow the Danube to Elisabeth Bridge, but keep
away from the road directly by the river. Noisy, and the sidewalk is not made for walking.
Not a must, but swing by these ruin pubssometime during Friday or Saturday evening. No
need to stop for a drink though.
Clubbing & Dancing, Eat & dance afterwards, good music with Not like young 20th
Havana club has live Latin music and is a more elegant place where you can eat and dance a
s well. Vicky Barcelona in Gozsdu is also nice but can get very crowded.
* = A must to try
** = A reservation is advisable

The venue is spectacular, so you go there for the ambient. The cakes are OK, but not
spectacular. Pricy of course.
