CHAPTER 1

1.1 INTRODUCTION

A cluster of acute respiratory disease of unknown etiology emerged in

Wuhan, China during late December of 2019. On the 7th of January, isolation of
novel coronavirus (nCoV), which was later named coronavirus disease
(COVID-19) by the World Health Organization (WHO), was implicated as the
cause of the outbreak. Since then, cases of COVID-19 have been on the rise
over the entire globe

The symptoms of the COVID-19 infection are similar to that of other beta
coronaviruses. Symptoms include fever, cough, dyspnoea, weakness and
fatigue, headache and diarrhea.

The best way to deal with the highly infective virus is by mitigating the
spread of the virus. Several precautionary measurements are recommended to
control the COVID-19 spread. Such recommendations include frequent hand
washing, wearing a face mask, self-isolation and social distancing.

6
1.2 Objectives

 Awareness about Covid-19 of corona virus

 Awareness about Covid-19 symptoms of corona virus

 Awareness about Covid-19 care to be taken to prevent COVID-19

 Awareness about Covid-19 importance of vaccination

7
1.3 SCOPE OF THE STUDY

 This activity will help prevent corona virus infection.

 This study provides information on how to protect yourself from the

virus.

 The information thus gathered by conducting a systematic research would

help to find out about the same.

 This study mainly focused in Aurangabad District.

 The scope of the project is limited.

8
1.4 LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

CHAPTER 2

2.1 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

The research methodology used to complete research work related to the

selected field, includes data collection and analysis from both secondary and
primary sources.

Data collection:

The collection data means a process of preparing and collecting the

required data through various sources. The purpose of collecting data is to
obtain information about the aspect of the study and also helpful to keep record
and solution n in helpful decision. There are two method of data collection.

Primary data:

Primary data means the data collected at first hand by the researcher. It is
primarily collected through direct contact with the peoples. As this project is
connected, the primary data is collected through questionnaire (Google form) by
interviewing the people.

Secondary data:

Any data which is collected earlier for some other purpose is called as
secondary data. Different websites are studied as a part of secondary data to
obtain desired.

10
11
2.2 Study design and sampling :

Questionnaires were created, designed and disseminated using the

Google Forms platform. Participants were encouraged to fill out the form
and help share the questionnaire with their family members, friends and
relatives.

Sampling plan:

A small selection of large group which is taken for interviewing is

called sampling. Respondents from Aurangabad Have provided their
valuable feedback on 10 different questions related to awareness about
COVID-19. A simple percentage method is used to analyse the collected
data.

Sample size:

A sample size of twenty five (25) was taken in order to carry the
study.

Sampling unit:

Instrument of data collection is questionnaire with the help of

google forms.

CHAPTER 3

3.1 THEORITICAL BACKGROUND

COVID-19 is the disease caused by a new coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2.

WHO first learned of this new virus on 31 December 2019, following a report
of a cluster of cases of ‘viral pneumonia’ in Wuhan, People’s Republic of
China.

The coronavirus has spread all over the world and its infection has been
detected in patients in India, Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

13
The symptoms of the COVID-19 infection are similar to that of other beta
coronaviruses. Symptoms include fever, cough, dyspnoea, weakness and
fatigue, headache and diarrhea. These symptoms appear after an incubation
period, which ranges from 0 to 24 days, with a median duration of 3 days. This
period mainly depends on the patient’s age and immune system status. Human
to human transmission is the most likely route of COVID-19 dissemination,
primarily via close contact or through droplets spreading by coughing . The use
of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase inhibitors (Remdesivir) and anti-
inflammatory agents (Dexamethasone) showed promising clinical results. A
recent review documented the efficacy of Remdesivir in shortening the recovery
periods of infected patients. Moreover, the highest reductions of death risk and
all-cause mortality were most prominently seen in patients with severe COVID-
19 infection.

25
8.2 FINDINGS & CONCLUSION

 Majority of respondents have completed 2 doses of vaccine.

 Social distancing is one of the ways to prevent covid-19
 Wearing facemask is more preventive.
 A major symptom of covid-19 is dry cough.
 Covid-19 is on the rise due to air droplets, crowded places,
sneeze, close contact and not wearing a face mask.

In summary, the degree of awareness portrayed by the studied

populations is mildly adequate, yet lacking in specific dimensions such as
transmission and treatment awareness. It seems that both populations exhibit
similar trends of attitudes and perceptions toward the COVID-19 pandemic,
hence their analogues cultures. Concerned authorities should allocate time and
resources into raising awareness through official platforms and extensive social
media campaigns, in an effort to help the populace overcome the challenges of
the emergent pandemic.
