2 - Findings from Personal Interviews: Personal interviews were performed with HR

specialists from various hospitals in the Jaipur region to collect information for the FMEA
analysis. These interviews shed important light on the difficulties female healthcare workers
experience in striking a balance between work and family. A thorough FMEA data sheet was
created using the information gathered from these interviews. This data sheet provides details
on numerous probable failure modes, as well as the reasons and effects that go along with
them. It is intended that by studying this data, practical solutions can be created to solve the
problems experienced by Rajasthani female healthcare workers and enhance their work-life
balance.

Key findings from five individual interviews of HR experts of various hospitals are as follow,

Mr. Ashok Jeenwal (Head – HR & Tarining, EHCC Jaipur)

The expert emphasize on the emotional and mental health more of their employees, as they
need to take care of many distressed patients during their day of work. They have rotational
shifts, and employees are free to make changes in their shifts, giving them flexibility in their
work. As per their knowledge, working attitude and behavior are the key indicators of the
work-life imbalance. They provide counseling to their employees who suffer guilt from any
incident that occurred in their presence. HR activities are regularly conducted to keep the
staff engaged and connected with each other.

Dr. Deepika Joshi (Manager – HR, Fortis Hospital, Jaipur)

According to experts, hospitals are on duty around-the-clock, thus it is crucial for personnel
to preserve work-life balance to ensure that the standard of work is not compromised. The
performance of their personnel, which they gauge using a variety of measures, helps them
identify the imbalance. Annual performance reviews are available, and one of the sections
addresses work-life balance. Additionally, focus groups are held to get staff feedback. Expert
emphasize on establishing connections at work place, perceiving mental health of its staff.
They have highly efficient human resource planning tool which helps them control the work
schedule.

Mr. Sanjay Rajvanshi (Hospital Administrator – Bhandari Hospital & Research

Centre)

According to the expert, a good work-life balance must exist among the staff members at all
costs if the hospital is to function properly. They became aware of a few incidents where a
sick family member of their staff interfered with hospital operations. However, actions are
done in these circumstances, and other tactics like cross-functionality and flexible shifts are
used. Because their good health enables the hospital to achieve the desired efficiency, experts
place a strong emphasis on the regular checkups of their employees as well. They firmly
believe in giving their staff members all they need to maintain a good work-life balance. One
of their main strategies is to measure the work-life balance using high-quality technologies.

Dr. Anjali Mishra (Manager – HR, Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital & Research
Centre (BMHRC), Jaipur)
“WLB is very important to maintain their productivity and output. WLB means the ability of
a professional to maintain a just balance between personal and professional life”. The expert
observe various signs that could be an indication of failure of work life balance, are, low
productivity, low quality of work, mental stress, difficulty in coordination, etc. Their
strategies to monitor work-life balance includes performance monitoring, counseling, and
routine assessments. In many instances, new mothers have concerns regarding the imbalance
in their work life. To this, they provide maternity leaves and allow employees to take more
than authorized leaves if necessary. They focus on work distribution to prevent any agitation
among the employees. Their further plans include opening a daycare at the hospital and
improving their existing training methods.

Mrs. Manju (Manager – HR, Apex Hospital, Jaipur)

According to experts, those who work in the high-stress, demanding healthcare services
sector risk experiencing burnout, tension, and other detrimental effects if work-life balance is
not preserved. For workers in the healthcare services sector, achieving work-life balance is
crucial since it can improve physical and mental health, increase job satisfaction, and lower
turnover rates. Work-life balance may not be accomplished within a team or department if
there is an increase in absenteeism or sick leave requests, a decrease in productivity or work
quality, high turnover rates, or difficulty luring and keeping top personnel. They utilise a
variety of instruments and techniques to gauge and keep track of team members' work-life
balance, including: conducting surveys or focus groups to get employees' opinions and
thoughts, tracking employee hours and workload to make sure they are neither overworked or
underworked, and gathering information on absence and attrition rates. The following are
some steps that experts take to encourage work-life balance among their team members:
Encourage team building and social activities that foster a positive work culture and work-life
balance, set an example by prioritising work-life balance, and continuously monitor and
assess workloads and workload distribution among team members to ensure a healthy work-
life balance.
