分詞構文の練習 #1

日本人学習にとって難しい文法項目の一つである「分詞構文」は、

「分詞構文」自体を作ることからまず始めると、

英文中に出てきた分詞構文の意味理解や、

分詞構文を使った英作ができるようになります。

分詞構文では、以下の 3 種類の表現が省略されます。

１） 同じ文中に出ている同じ主語

２） 書かなくても簡単に推測できる接続詞

３） Being (be 動詞 の現在分詞)

＊ただし、接続詞と Being は、省略されずに残る場合もあります。

今回は、練習問題のみのファイルとなります。

必要に応じて、前回までのチェックリストや説明ファイルを読み、理解を深めて下さい。

＝分詞構文の作り方練習＝

まず手始めに、以下の英文を、分詞構文を使って、簡潔な表現に変えてみましょう。

正解は、このファイルの最後にあります。
1. When I arrived at the airport, I called the office to let them know the time I will get there.

2. Because we are planning to go to California, we started to collect leaflets at several travel

agencies.

3. When I was watching TV commercials, I suddenly remembered that I had to buy a birthday
present for my daughter.

4. Since researchers were satisfied with the test results, they decided to publish their study.

5. As my watch was bought at a low price at a sale, it got broken easily.

6. Because we have been to the U.S. before, we would like to go on a vacation to some other
countries, such as Malaysia.

7. As we had been informed of the fire drill, we were not surprised when the emergency alarm
bell went off.

分詞構文を含む以下の英文を和訳してみましょう。

1. Becoming well known in the town, the bakery appeared in the local newspaper several times.

4. Guaranteed internationally, my computer can receive free repair service abroad.

5. Recommended by a famous doctor, the supplement pills are selling very well.
6. Chosen as a team leader, Ben decided to have a meeting with all the members.

7. Having been trained as a guard at the swimming pool before, Paul was able to rescue the child

drowning in the river

4. 私のコンピュータは、海外でも保障されているので、海外で無料修理サービスを受
 けることができる。

5. 有名な医者から勧められたので、そのサプリメントの錠剤はとてもよく売れている。

6. チームリーダーとして選ばれて、ベンは全メンバーと会議を開くことに決めた。

7. プールの監視員として訓練を受けていたので、ポールはその川で溺れている子供を
