DEMOLITION WORK (REQUIREMENTS-MEASURES) DIRECTIONS


1- Necessary legal permissions should be obtained for demolition.
2- Demolition work should be carried out only by experienced and professionally appropriate persons, and the
administration should provide the necessary materials and machines for demolition,
3- Demolition work should be planned in detail.
4- Difficult demolition works can only be started after the administration hangs at the place of construction the written
demolition instruction about this subject. Perform the demolition in accordance with the written demolition
instruction.
(Do not perform demolishing operation by using heavy-duty machines, by disassembling, blasting).
Preparatory Measures
5- Before starting the demolition works, the static and structural condition of the building to be demolished should be
analyzed.
6- The type, condition and location of existing sewer and transmission lines should be determined.
7- Demolition work should be done according to the regional conditions of the demolition area. Depending on the
situation, cutting, detaching, demolishing, striking, rupturing, diamond drilling, blasting and other special
operations can be selected.
8- It should be checked whether dangerous gases, dusts, vapors or mists will emerge during demolition.
Demolition Instruction
9- Demolition instruction should contain the following information:
Scope and stages of demolition,
Demolition work,
Type and number of machines used,
Aid mechanism, required scaffolding and climbing ladders,
Fall protection equipment,
Demolition depth and possible effects on adjacent buildings,
Security measures (For example, enclosing dangerous areas with barriers),
Protection measures against gases released.
Asbestos protection measures.
Execution of the Work
10- Demolition area must be constantly observed by the supervisor. The observer cannot be the loader driver at the
same time.
11- In case of danger, work must be stopped immediately.
12- Never try to demolish the building parts by digging the bottom or splitting them.
13- Regulate the use and joint use of the tools.
14- By working in coordination with other operations, prevent people who are not involved in the demolishing work to
be in danger.
15- Roads and emergency exits should not be blocked with debris. Dangerous areas should be enclosed with a barrier
or secured with security guards.
16- Before passing through or working with large machines on the ground (e.g. loader, tractor), the durability of the
ground and walls should be checked. Dispose of the debris in accordance with legal environmental regulations and
recycle them.
Precautionary Protective Examinations
17- If danger occurs due to lead dust and smoke, silicogen powder, asbestos powder, tar containing substances,
workplace occupational health services should intervene.
