Prehistoric
Smoke Signal – One of the oldest forms of long distance
communication.

5th Century
Pigeon post – Pigeon post is the use of homing pigeons to carry
messages.

Year 1450
Printing press - The printing press had a huge impact on societies
around the world. Information could now be spread much more
quickly.

“THE WIRED ERA”


Year 1838
Telegraph – A telegraph is a communication system that sends
information by making and breaking an electrical connection.
Year 1876
Telephone – A telephone is an instrument designed for the
simultaneous transmission and reception of the human voice.

Year 1930
Videophone – Videophone, device that simultaneously transmits
and receives both audio and video signals over telephone lines.

Year 1959
Pager – A pager, also known as a beeper or bleeper, is a wireless
telecommunications device that receives and displays
alphanumeric or voice messages.

Year 1964
Xerox Fax Machine – A device that sends and receives printed
pages or images over telephone lines by digitizing the material
with an internal optical scanner and transmitting the information
as electronic signals.

Year 1973
Mobile Phone – The Motorola DynaTAC 8000X was the first
handheld cellular phone that allowed people to make longer
distance calls than just a landline phone.

Year 1981
First Mobile (Cellular) Phone Network – The first commercially
automated cellular network was launched in Japan in 1981.

Year 1982/83
SMTP Email – Which became the world’s largest selling email
system. The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) protocol was
implemented on the ARPANET in 1983.

Year 1992
First Text Message – That very first text, sent on the 3rd
December 1992, simply said, “Merry Christmas.” Neil Papworth
who sent the world’s first text message on 3 December 1992.
Year 1990
Internet – The world of the Web has brought people closer.
Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web in 1990.
Satellites support the internet. Through the internet, we
can search for anything, anywhere in the whole world.

“IP CLOUD ERA”


Year 2003
Skype – The foremost voice-over-IP service was launched
in August 2003. Skype actually stands for “Sky Peer to
Peer.” Before you read on you can find out more about our
services here.

Year 2005
High-Definition Video Conferencing Systems – the first
high definition videoconferencing systems, produced by
LifeSize Communications, were displayed at the Interop
trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada, able to provide video at
30 frames per second with a 1280 by 720 display
resolution.
Year 2007
Iphone – The iPhone is the first iPhone model and the first
smartphone designed and marketed by Apple Inc. After
years of rumors and speculation, it was officially
announced on January 9, 2007, and was released in the
United States on June 29, 2007.
Year 2008
Smartphone – A smartphone is a cellular telephone with an
integrated computer and other features not originally
associated with telephones, such as an operating system (OS),
web browsing and the ability to run software applications.

Year 2010 – 2020


Social Media – People share their entire life events on
social media. Social media platforms help people share
pictures, videos, and almost everything on the internet. It
is the latest mode of communication in the digital world.
Smart phones have made this more convenient. Social
media apps can be downloaded into Smart phones, Tablet, Computer and Laptop.
