Mission

Sta. Clara Trading and Construction Company started in 1976 in Philippines and engaged in
supply of construction materials and equipment rental where it provided subcontract works to
major contractors of the Philippine Nuclear Power Plant Project.

NICANDRO G. LINAO is the founder of this company. He is the President and Managing
Director of the company’s management team. He is also the Chairman of their company’s board
of directors.

Today, Sta. Clara is classified as a Quadruple A company, the highest category bestowed by the
Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP)’s Philippine Contractors Association
Board (PCAB). According to Nicandro, only a few out of the many competing companies have
achieved such standing. They have also successfully forged partnerships and completed projects
with major water concessioners, retail stores and more.
Despite the pandemic, the Linaos remain optimistic. Mike, an engineer by profession,

Sta. Clara International has executed numerous projects in the fields of construction,
transportation (including power plants, transmission lines, and substations), flood control and
dams, water and wastewater systems, site development, mining, and tunneling.

Let’s discuss a few of their finished Roads, Bridges, and Railways projects.
 Subic – Clark – Tarlac Expressway Package 1
Embankment of 1.2 million cubic meters of lahar for 8 km section including base
course, cement-treated base and the 8 RCDG bridges, 2 underpasses, RCBC,
RCPC, drainage structures, and slope protection. Four (4) lane asphalt pavement
expressway, bridges, underpass, trench excavation, backfilling, and compaction.
Located at Dinaluphan, Bataan and finished in 2007
 Urgent bridges Construction from Rural Development Project III
Total of 6 bridges: Catmon, Cavinti, Lipa, Mabacao, Pajo, Payapa, Construction
of 2-lane reinforced concrete deck girder bridge, Portland cement concrete
approach, stone masonry slope protection, and concrete canal drainage system.
Located at Laguna and Batangas and finished in 2008
 Tipo Expressway
Construction of 8.5 km of 7.30 m wide expressway including bridge and border
fencing which is the main gateway to Subic Bay Freeport. Construction works
include a bridge, a tunnel, and a border fencing. Located at Olongapo City to
Hermosa, Bataan

Hydroelectric Power Plants project


 4X8 MW Caliraya Hydroelectric Power Plants
Upstream/downstream dam face including rehabilitation of the Lumot-Caliraya
Waterway at Caliraya Hydropower Plant, Construction of new spillway – open
gated type with its ogee crest elevation at 284.46 meters. It was designed for a
maximum discharge of more than 500 cu.m per second, Rehabilitation &
improvement of the existing Tunnel. Located at Caliraya, Laguna and finished on
August 2004.

Projects in Water Treatment Plants and Water Pumping Stations


 Rizal Province Water Supply Improvement Project - Phase 1 and 2.
The project is intended to provide an additional clear water sources to Morong
Town Proper and Subic Water. The project comprises process, control,
mechanical, electrical, and structural works of new facilities. Construction of
Water Treatment Plant and Pipe Line Distribution. Located at Brgy. Sabang,
Morong, Bataan
 Marikina North Terminal Pumping Station
Sub-Catchment Sewer System that intercepts the influence area’s domestic
wastewater flows and treats them at the Marikina North STP. The components of
this project are sewer lines, lift stations, and terminal pumping station. Located at
Brgy. Nangka, Marikina City and completed on May 2015.

Site Development and Works


 Sta. Rita Power Station 1000MW Power Plant CCPP
Site Development for 35 hectares area, Clearing, Leveling, Drainage
Roads, Sheet Pile for wall structures. Located at Sta. Rita, Batangas and
completed on November 1999.

Mining and Tunneling projects


 70MW Bakun AC Hydroelectric Power Plant
Bakun AC is a 75.4MW hydro power project. It is located on Bakun river/basin in
Ilocos, Philippines. According to GlobalData, who tracks and profiles over
170,000 power plants worldwide, the project is currently active. It has been
developed in a single phase. The project construction commenced in 1997 and
subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2001.
 Manolo Fortich Hydroelectric Power Plant
Manolo Fortich is a 68.8MW hydro power project. It is located on Tanaon,
Amusig, Guihean river/basin in Northern Mindanao, Philippines. According to
GlobalData, who tracks and profiles over 170,000 power plants worldwide, the
project is currently active. It has been developed in multiple phases. The project
construction commenced in 2015 and subsequently entered into commercial
operation in 2018.

Student Internship
Sta. Clara is a partner of various educational institutions to host student internship programs to
provide their students’ experiences in an actual work environment as a requirement to complete
their studies. These internships are hosted both in SCIC’s Central Office and its projects,
depending on which setup will provide better exposure and relevant learning to the student
interns. The company has hosted internships for various courses such as but not limited to Civil,
Electrical, Mechanical, and Mining Engineering, Construction and Engineering Management,
Architecture, Accountancy, Psychology, and Marketing. Interested students may send their

approval.

On the Job Training


Aside from the Cadet Engineer Program, SCIC is also providing work-learning opportunities to
fresh college graduates of various courses. Through an on-the-job training setup, new employees
with no to minimal work experiences are provided opportunities to gain relevant knowledge and
skills, while performing actual work under guidance by their immediate superiors taking the role
of coaches and mentors. Various entry-level positions for technical and support such as but not
limited to Jr. Engineers and Clerks are accepted in SCIC depending on the current workforce
