Problem 1:
A steel cylinder has a 0.15 m inner diameter and a 0.45 m outer diameter. If it is subjected to an
internal pressure of 160 MPa, (a) determiner the radial and tangential stress distributions and
show the results on a plot. (b) Determine the maximum shear stress. (c) Determine changes in
external and internal diameters. Consider E = 200 GPa and  = 0.3.

Problem 2:

Problem 3:
A steel shaft with an outer diameter of 450 mm and an inner diameter of 30 mm has a steel tube
75-mm thick shrink-fit onto it. The inner diameter of the tube is machined to be 1.25 mm less
than the outer diameter of the shaft. Determine the expressions for the stresses in the shafts.
