The story is about the duality of human nature through the characters of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde, showing the consequences of scientific experiments and the battle between good and
evil sides of one person.

There is a mysterious and suspenseful tone to reveal the psychological and moral issues of the

BODY PARAGRAPH 1—PLOT

1. Main idea of the story/book (EXPLAIN IN DETAIL):


Dr. Jekyll, in searching for separate his good and evil selves, creates a potion that transforms
him in the malevolent Mr. Hyde. The experiment first gives him a sense of freedom, but
Hyde's actions become completely strange, finishing in the murder of Sir Danvers Carew.
While Jekyll wants to take control Hyde, the experiment takes a dark turn.

2. Where does the story take place:


It takes place in London, Dr. Jekyll's residence and laboratory, Mr. Hyde's residence, streets,
and parks.

3. When does the story take place:


It´s maybe the 19th century.

4. Something unique about the time/place in which the story takes place and how it affects
the characters:
The societal norms of the time play a role in the characters' behaviours and the secret
surrounding Dr. Jekyll's experiments.

1. Main characters of the story/book (describe them in detail):
Dr. Henry Jekyll: A respected doctor with a hidden dark side, driven by the desire to separate
his two personalities.
Mr. Edward Hyde: The malevolent alter ego created by Jekyll's experiment, representing the
embodiment of his evil side.
Dr. Hastie Lanyon: Jekyll's friend and scientist, initially skeptical but finally deeply affected
by the consequences of Jekyll's experiment.
Sir Danvers Carew: A murder victim, representing the tragic result of Hyde's uncontrollable
violence.
2. What are the relationships like between characters in the story/book:
Jekyll and Hyde represent an internal conflict with the same person. Lanyon's relationship
with Jekyll is bad due to differing scientific beliefs. The murder of Sir Danvers Carew creates
impact in the relationships.

1. Favorite part of the story/book and why:


The revelation of Hyde's identity and the psychological exploration of Jekyll's internal battle,
as it adds layers of suspense and depth to the narrative. It reminded me of American Psycho
movie, it´s like, oh, he is the protagonist, seems like a good person but then, what happened?
Is he the murderer? It´s like a plot-twist.

2. What do you think about the way it was written?


The writing style is captivating, employing a mysterious and atmospheric tone that effectively
enhances the suspense and psychological tension, almost like a scary movie.

3. Do you think other people would enjoy reading this book and why?
Yes, people who enjoy psychological mysteries, scary movies like American Psycho, The fly,
and explorations of human nature specially like Fight Club movie, would likely find this book
engaging due to its suspenseful plot and thematic depth.

1. Was the story/book entertaining, educational, amusing, etc., and why?


The story is entertaining, offering a unique exploration of human nature and the consequences
of irresponsible scientific curiosity.

2. Why did you enjoy/not enjoy reading this story/book?


I enjoyed the psychological depth and suspenseful narrative. The exploration of the duality of
human nature and the consequences of scientific experimentation was interesting.

3. Would you recommend other people read this book?


Yes, I would recommend this book to those interested in psychological mysteries and scary
movies like Scream, Halloween, Friday the 13 th, I know what you did last summer and
American Psycho.
