Spelling Bee Mechanics:
1. The competition is open to all bonafide students of Samar
College Majoring in English. 2. There shall be 1 representative each section from BSED English 1 to 4. 3. The contestants should be at the venue of the competition 30 minutes before it starts. Failure to show up 15 mins before the competition starts, disqualification will be given to the contestants, respectively. 4. There will be three (3) levels for this contest namely: easy, moderate and difficult rounds. Each level has ten (10) words to be spelled correctly. 5. Each level has ten (10) words to be spelled correctly with the corresponding point(s). One (1) point for the Easy round, two (2) points for Moderate, and five (5) points for the Difficult round. 6. The word, definition, and sample sentence containing the word will be read twice by the spelling master. 7. The contestants must wait for the "Go" signal before writing their answers. Those who write before the go signal will be disqualified for that particular turn. After the time limits and buzzer sounds, the contestants will stop writing and raise his/her answer. 8. After the easy round, the top 5 scorers who got the highest scores will then proceed to the moderate round. Consequently, same goes to the moderate round, the top 3 scorers will also then proceed to the difficult round. 9. In case of a tie after each round, the contestants will proceed to the clincher round to determine the place that they will be competing for. 10. The participant who has garnered highest points will win. 11. Hence, the winners of the said competition will be declared as 2nd Place, 1st Place and Spelling Bee Champion which they will receive a certificate and a cash prize.
