PROPYLENE GLYCOL METHYL ETHER ACETATE


METHOD 1

RAW MATERIAL QUANTITY


A PROPYLENE OXIDE 174g
B METHYL ALCOHOL 192g
C RITALIN (METHYL ACETATE) 666g
D SODIUM METHYLATE (Catalyst) 3g

PROCEDURE
1. Mix A – D in the reactor ( reactor with a Nitrogen Purging Reactor)
2. Turn on reactor agitator (300 – 800rpm)
Yield: 87.1%
3. Heat to 100oC and timing begins (Reaction time : 4hrs)
Conversion Rate: 92%
4. Maintain Pressure at 0.15 MPa
5. After reaction is completed, cool reactor to room temperature
6. Reclaim Methyl alcohol by rectifying separation

METHOD 2

RAW MATERIAL QUANTITY


A Propylene Glycol monomethyl ether 360g
B Acetic acid 277g
C Vitriol oil 1.3g
D N – Butyl Acetate 51g

PROCEDURE
1. Add A – D in the reactor (1000ml boiling flask with a condenser and a 20 * 800 packing
tower)
2. Heat and maintain temperature to 120 – 140oC Yield: 75.7%
3. Reaction time: 5hrs Conversion Rate: 87.7%
4. Cool reactor and remove product

STYRENE MALEIC ANHYDRIDE COPOLYMER

RAW MATERIAL QUANTITY


A Maleic Anhydride 0.57g
B Styrene 0.61g
B Benzoyl peroxide BPO (Initiator) 0.024g
C Butylacetate (Medium) 5ml
Maleic Anhydride and styrene mole proportioning 5:5

PROCEDURE

1. Employ oil bath heating was reacted 1.5hrs under 100oC temperature under nitrogen
protection
2. Dry the liquor to obtain a white powder
Yield: 88%

METHOD 2

RAW MATERIAL QUANTITY


A Maleic Anhydride 4.904g
B Styrene 5.2g
B Diisopropyl azodicarboxylate (AIBN) 0.03g
(Initiator)
C Isoamyl acetate FCC (Medium) 45ml
Maleic Anhydride and styrene mole proportioning 1:1

PROCEDURE
1. Adopt heating in a water bath under nitrogen protection
Heating time: 6hrs
Heating temperature should be under 70oC
Results

Molecular weight 111987g
Polymerisation yield 88%
