LET’S TALK PROSTATE CANCER

September is prostate cancer awareness month. Despite it being a health threat

to man in Zimbabwe, it is often overlooked. There seems to be a large gap or
deficit on the amount of cancer information the average Zimbabwean man has.
The main objective of this month is to disseminate timely, useful and relevant
prostate cancer information to the Zimbabwean nation. It is against this
background that Talk Cancer Zim embarked on a Let’s Talk prostate cancer
campaign which consisted of publishing of newspaper articles, a prostate cancer
workshop with traditional medical practitioners from ZINIPA and the real men
conference two which is an initiative pioneered in the year 2021 in Harare at
Utano Cafe in Avondale. https://allafrica.com/stories/202112080529.html

The real man conference is a two pronged approach focusing on prostate cancer
and other common NCDs (Non Communicable Diseases) that affect
Zimbabwean men. This year the event was held at the Café Borrowdale brook.
The conference focused on the following thematic areas

 Prostate cancer
 Mental health issues in men
 A focus on sexual health
The event was supported by Flatbrige, Gunhill medical village,
Medorange ,National AIDS Council and the Café restaurant .
