pharmaceutical industries. Hygienic, reliable filling, dosing and conveying
of high-viscosity liquids and pastes is our competence.

In this sector, very high demands are placed on the technology used.
The viscosity, dripping, tendency to thread formation and much more
must be taken into consideration. Especially when the media to be
filled are pasty, with solid content, chunky, temperature-sensitive, shear-

 Dosing Pumps

The RD series has been designed to perfection as far as its cleaning capabilities are concerned. It is no wonder
that it passed the EHEDG test with flying colours. Its hygienically enclosed mechanical seal (with buffer chamber
arranged behind), positioned ideally in the flushing area, enables first-rate cleaning results.

The RD also has an excellent streamlined interior design. It has no dead spaces and all internal and external
surfaces are electropolished. Our dosing pumps are CIP and SIP capable. Careful elastomer selection guarantees
the reliability of the dosing pump. All parts which come into contact with the product are food safe and
FDA-compliant.

EHEDG Report
The RD series by ViscoTec stands for the perfect interplay of hygienic design and
functionality. This series has been used in the food industry and, in particular, in
the pharmaceutical field for many years. In these industries, the highest demands
are placed on cleaning and sterilisation of machinery, which ViscoTec completely
fulfils. The pump was audited in accordance with EHEDG guidelines at the university
in Munich/Weihenstephan. As part of these investigations, it was certified with an
TYPE EL - CLASS I
MARCH 2010 “optimum in cleanability” again after ten years.

Filling units
ViscoTec fillers meet the challenging requirements for filling viscous and
pasty products in the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries.
Not only are they highly suitable for these media, they offer the
user the advantages of easy handling and flexibility of application:
be it as a tabletop filling machine for small batches or for integration
into complex, fully automatic filling systems such as deep-drawing
machines, fill and seal machines (vertical or horizontal), sachet pack-
aging machines, in-line fillers or rotary fillers. In combination with the
ViscoDos 4000 control system, you will get a filling unit, in which all the
individual components are perfectly matched.

Filling unit for fruit masses – Using this filler, sauces and fruit pomace are added to
puddings and yoghurts. During the filling procedure, the nozzles move pneumatically
to lay a product bead. The unit is mobile and can be docked easily to the existing
filling line. ViscoTec supplies these compact systems including product source
material containers, control unit, filler and carriages.

Filling of lumpy cat food – In addition to the rapid filling of 300 ml per unit and
the movement of the nozzles during the filling procedure, the hygiene aspect was
a particularly major challenge. As the product is no longer heated in an autoclave
after filling and sealing of the trays, the complete system must be absolutely
germ-free. Before the hot-filling, CIP (cleaning) and SIP (sterilisation) take place.

GmbH in Rosenheim has used

Merz Verpackungsmaschinen
GmbH is a manufacturer of pack-
aging machines for portion
packs. Essentially, these are flat
bag and stick pack machines.
A large proportion of customers
are companies from the pharma-
ceutical industry or packaging
contractors in this field. In the
last years, Merz has used various
pumps from ViscoTec Pumpen-
u. Dosiertechnik GmbH in vari-
ous projects, particularly for the
dosing of high-viscosity media.
The clear and simple structure,
dosing accuracy and wide range
of application have impressed
us. This applies particularly for
cleaning the pumps and for

HSB GmbH
HSB dosing technology based
on ViscoTec dosing pumps. For
more than 15 years, HSB GmbH
from Büdingen has been using
the versatile and precise dosing
pumps of ViscoTec Pumpen u.
Dosiertechnik GmbH. In doing
so, units are built for manual
and semi-automatic operation,
as well as for complex fully-au-
tomated systems. The core of
this is the dosing pump, which
can be used from approx. 5 ml
to 5 litres. HSB GmbH produces
complete systems (see graphic) for
optimal dosing in a huge array of
packaging (trays, bowls, tubular
bags, buckets, etc.). This means

 Barrel Emptying Systems

The ViscoTec barrel emptying system for the reliable conveying and
dosing of high-viscosity media out of barrels consists of the components
of pneumatic lifting device, electrically driven dosing/conveying pump
and follower plate. Since these can be combined in various ways, we
are able to offer a customer-specific solution for any application. Be it
the dosing of tomato puree from a ribbed 200 litre barrel or the feed of
mascara from a 20 litre bucket.

Complete Emptying
The heart of a ViscoTec barrel emptying system is the ViscoTec dosing pump. These pumps have extremely good
suction so that the pump with follower plate does not have to be pressed onto the product. The emptying is started
using an electric switch. In contrast to other emptying systems, which press the product into a delivery pump using
the follower plate, our pressure-less procedure guarantees that no medium is pressed onto the side of the follower
plate. If the barrel is completely empty, the pump automatically deactivates using a level switch. The lifting device is
controlled using compressed air. The pump itself is generally equipped with a three-phase current drive.

 Dosing Control

With the multifunctional ViscoDos 4000 control system, you have a dosing system that is easy to handle and operate,
offers extreme flexibility in adjusting to varying operting conditions, yet enables high-accuracy dosing.
This control operateswithout flow meters and can be used for all volumetric conveying dosing pumps.

You have the advantage of a control system that allows you to control
your flow rate, and thus your desired dosing volume, simply yet
accurately. Basically, by using a volumetric conveying pump, a volume of the
product dosed or conveyed is exactly defined by the number of revolu-
tions or even by angle degree change. After easy calibration, you can
carry out all the required dosing operations.
