As required by the Ministry of Education, all students are required to reflect on the core competencies as part of the
learning process. As a school, we participated in a school wide core competency reflection in early October. Your
student completed this activity in their grade group teams account. If you are interested in seeing your child's reflection,
please access your child's teams account. There is no mark attached to this reflection.
Career Life Education is the first of two mandatory senior Career courses that are meant to engage students in the
exploration of various career and life skills topics to help them identify personal strengths and interests in order
to start considering future pathways after high school. Units covered so far include: Personal strengths and
characteristics surveys/analysis, goal setting, personal health and wellness and an intro to basic financial literacy.
The student demonstrates an extending understanding of the Careers curriculum. They are able to discuss,
answer questions or write personal reflections with thoughtful observations, depth and insight while using detail
and specific examples to make connections between themselves and the topic. Further growth could be seen in
contributing to class and small group discussions, along with encouraging others to share their ideas.

So far this term, students have been listening and viewing with the intent to support the acquisition of the French
language. Through the use of stories, videos, music and themed vocabulary, students have been sharing their
personal perspectives, opinions and experiences. As vocabulary and fluency continue to increase, students are
encouraged to actively participate in reciprocal interactions. Cameron can share opinions and ideas with others
and, with support, demonstrates understanding through simple responses. Cameron will benefit from reviewing
language concepts and vocabulary on a regular basis. As a next step, this student is encouraged to continue
practicing and expanding their vocabulary, perhaps by engaging more actively in speaking and listening activities.

Cameron is demonstrating most of the learning standards involving genetics and energy so far. Participates well
in class and made consistent effort into completing their work.
A good effort is being made to complete class work and to keep up with assigned tasks and projects.
