INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. SCOPE:
This document elaborated the installation guidelines to install the Internals (sleve tray, feed
box ) for Deaerator (Tag No 26-V-1401) safely inside the vessel.

2. OBJECTIVE:
This document describe the typical installation procedure for internals (sleve tray, feed box) for
Deaerator (Tag No 26-V-1401). Site personal / shop supervisor / workmen are requested to
review the same and follow for the proper installation of the said equipment’s.

3. SAFETY POINTS:
a) Always wear protective clothing (Hard hat (helmet), coveralls, safety shoes, ear plugs
and gloves) when handling internals.
b) In case of minor adjustment are needed using grinding or drilling tools- use safety
glasses for eyes protection. Work permit shall be obtained for working inside the
confined space. Please use proper PPE and following the HSE procedure.
c) The Internals as they are may fall off if left loose, properly secure them.
d) Always ensure adequate ventilation when working in enclosed spaces.
e) Get clearance from site HSE personnel that vessel is free from any hazardous / toxic
gases and safe for personnel.
f) Ensure that equipment / vessel is properly isolated and splicing plate / blind flange is
installed on vessel inlet / outlet nozzle.
g) If in doubts ask the original manufacturer before commencing any work.

4. INSTALLTION SEQUENCE:
Below given sequence to be flowed for installation of Internals of Deaerator (Tag No 26-V-1401).

a) Sleve tray.
b) Feed box.

Above sequence A at first and one time and sequence D at last one time, sequence B & C are
alternative to each other (after A end then B after that A ….).

5.4. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION FOR FIX VALVE TRAY.


a) This Section will explain step by step installation activities to be followed during installation,
however before start of the installation all the safety measures shall be taken care to have
the safe installation of internals as stated in above Section 3. After ensuring all safety
measures, the following steps shall be followed.
b) Prepare and identify all parts listed on the BOM on the relevant drawing 11-01-25-
3636_Sheet 3 of 6_Rev-D.
c) Bring all the parts near to the vessel with the help of crane or fork-lift and keep near to the
man way through which it can be taken inside. All parts of seal pan & tray #01 to #12 will be
near to manway M1B, all parts of tray #13 to #24 and false downcomer will be near to
manway M1A.
d) The part weight up to 30 kgs can be handled manually inside the vessel.
e) The heavy parts more than 30 kgs weight shall be handled with the help of suitable lifting
arrangements inside the vessel based on the site/shop availability.
f) Built the scaffolding inside the vessel to work on height for safe installation.
g) Insert all loose parts seal pan in the vessel via man hole (M1B) and assemble all parts as per
figure-1 and below instruction.
h) Lift seal plate-2 (item no 60) and put on support plates welded to vessel. Take care to insert
gasket (item no 62 & 63) between support plate and seal plate. Loosely tight seal plate with
support plate.
i) Lift seal plate-1 (item no 59) and put on support plates welded to vessel. Take care to insert
gasket (item no 62 & 63) between support plate and seal plate and gasket (item no 64)
between seal plate-1 & 2. Loosely tight seal plate with support plate and seal plate-1 with
seal plate-2.

j) Lift UDF plate-1 & 2 (Item No 01 & 02) and put at on tray support ring. Loosely tight both
plate with tray support ring by tray edge clamp and both plate to each other by tray beam
clamp. Check all dimensions are as per drawing then fully tight all bolts.
k) Lift downcomer support bracket-1 & 2 and bolt one below tray as per shown in drawing.
Place downcomer plate-1 & 2 (item no 27 & 28) and bolt with down comer support bar.
Check all dimensions of down comer Is as per drawing then fully tight all bolts of down
comer plate. (for tray #13 use down comer plate 3 to 6 (Item no 29 to 32))
l) Lift outlet weir plate (item no 25) and put on down comer, same time seal angle also place.
Loosely tight outlet weir plate with down comer support bar. Check all dimensions of outlet
weir is as per drawing then fully tight all bolts of outlet weir.
m) Lift all tray plats (item no 03 to 10) one by one and put on tray support ring, UDF panel &
outlet weir plate as per drawing. Loosely tight all plates by tray beam clamp & tray edge
clamp. Check all dimensions are as per drawing then fully tight all bolts.
n) Lift tray manway plate (Item no 11 & 12) and put on its place as per drawing. Loosely tight
manway plate by manway beam clamp & manway edge clamp. Check all dimensions are as
per drawing then fully tight all bolts. Here complete the installation of tray #01, follow same
procedure for remaining odd tray (#03, #05……#23)

o) Lift UDF plate-3 & 4 (Item No 13 & 14) and put at on tray support ring. Loosely tight both
plate with tray support ring by tray edge clamp and both plate to each other by tray beam
clamp. Check all dimensions are as per drawing then fully tight all bolts.
p) Lift downcomer support bracket-1 & 2 and bolt one below tray as per shown in drawing.
Place downcomer plate-7 & 8 (item no 33 & 34) and bolt with down comer support bar.
Check all dimensions of down comer Is as per drawing then fully tight all bolts of down
comer plate.
q) Lift outlet weir plate-2 (item no 26) and put on down comer, same time seal angle also
place. Loosely tight outlet weir plate with down comer support bar. Check all dimensions of
outlet weir is as per drawing then fully tight all bolts of outlet weir.
r) Lift all tray plats (item no 15 to 22) one by one and put on tray support ring, UDF panel &
outlet weir plate as per drawing. Loosely tight all plates by tray beam clamp & tray edge
clamp. Check all dimensions are as per drawing then fully tight all bolts.
s) Lift tray manway plate (Item no 23 & 24) and put on its place as per drawing. Loosely tight
manway plate by manway beam clamp & manway edge clamp. Check all dimensions are as
per drawing then fully tight all bolts. Here complete the installation of tray #02, follow same
procedure for remaining even tray (#04, #06……#24)

t) Lift down comer support bracket and place on tray #24 for false downcomer. Loosely tight
all down comer support bracket. Lift false down comer plate and loosely tight with down
comer support bar. Check all dimensions are as per drawing then full tight all bolts.
u) Get the approval from shop / site supervisor after each tray installation done to ensure that
the final assembly as per approved drawing.
v) Ensure no items (such as tolls & tackles, etc.) shall be left inside the vessel after the
completion of assembly.
w) Here complete the installation of fix valve tray follow below for remaining internals.
x) Ensure box-up man way with proper gasket.
y) Follow this sequence in reverse for dismantle the assembly.

5.5. TOOLS.
There are no special tools required for the assembly of these internals, however, the below
listed tools available in shop can be sued.

a. Measuring tape
b. Level Gauge
c. Suitable size spanner

6.4. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION FOR VV TYPE VANE PACK.


a) This Section will explain step by step installation activities to be followed during installation,

e) The heavy parts more than 30 kgs weight shall be handled with the help of suitable lifting
arrangements inside the vessel based on the site/shop availability.
f) Built the scaffolding inside the vessel to work on height for safe installation.
g) Insert all loose parts in the vessel via man hole (M1A) and assemble all parts as per figure-5
and below instruction.
h) Lift VV vane pack segment-1 (Item no 01) and put on support ring as per shown in drawing.
Lift VV vane pack segment-3 (Item no 03) and put on support ring as per shown in drawing.
Lift VV vane pack segment-2 (Item no 02) and insert between segment-1 & segment-3, hold
segment-3 at position and bolt bottom removable support ring at both side. Fully tight bolt
of removable bottom support ring.
i) Lift Angle (Item no 09) and put at down side cleat of vane pack segments. Check spacing of
segment then fully tight all cleats of segment to angle by M10 bolt. Final assemble will look
like above figure-5.
j) Get the approval from shop / site supervisor to ensure that the final assembly as per
approved drawing.
k) Ensure no items (such as tolls & tackles, etc.) shall be left inside the vessel after the
completion of assembly.
l) Here complete the installation of VV type vane pack follow below for remaining internals.
m) Ensure box-up man way with proper gasket.
n) Follow this sequence in reverse for dismantle the assembly.

6.5. TOOLS.
There are no special tools required for the assembly of these internals, however, the below
listed tools available in shop can be sued.

a. Measuring tape
b. Level Gauge
c. Suitable size spanner

7.3. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION FOR FEED PIPE DISTRIBUTOR.


a) This Section will explain step by step installation activities to be followed during installation,
however before start of the installation all the safety measures shall be taken care to have
the safe installation of internals as stated in above Section 3. After ensuring all safety
measures, the following steps shall be followed.
b) Prepare and identify all parts listed on the BOM on the relevant drawing 11-01-25-
3636_Sheet 2 of 6_Rev-D.
c) Bring all the parts near to the vessel with the help of crane or fork-lift and keep near to the
man way through which it can be taken inside.
d) The part weight up to 30 kgs can be handled manually inside the vessel.
e) The heavy parts more than 30 kgs weight shall be handled with the help of suitable lifting
arrangements inside the vessel based on the site/shop availability.
f) Built the scaffolding inside the vessel to work on height for safe installation.
g) To insert feed pipe distributor inside of vessel via manway (M1A) follow the instruction.
There are two lifting hooks on feed pipe distributor and two hooks on housing of vane pack.
Tie one rope in lofting hook of feed pipe distributor then tie same rope in hook of vane pack
housing. Tie another rope in remaining hook. This is heavy item so arrange sufficient man
power as well as take help of crane. Pull left side rope slowly this will pipe get inside.
h) One’s pipe will come inside of vessel then alien flange of feed pipe distributor to flange of
inlet nozzle as well as back side support cleat to cleat welded to vessel. Take care to insert
gasket between feed inlet distributor flange and inlet nozzle flange. Alien bolt in flange and
back side cleat also. Insert all remaining bolt and loosely tight all bolts.
i) Lift all branch pipe and alien to bottom side flanges of feed inlet distributor as per drawing.
Fully tight all branch pipes.
j) Check all parts fitted is as per drawing. After confirmation of all fitment is ok as per drawing
then fully tight all bolt. Final assembly will be looks like figure-6.
k) Get the approval from shop / site supervisor to ensure that the final assembly is as per
approved drawing.
l) Ensure no items (such as tolls & tackles, etc.) shall be left inside the vessel after the
completion of assembly.

m) Here complete the installation of feed pipe distributor.


n) Ensure box-up man way with proper gasket.
o) Follow this sequence in reverse for dismantle the assembly.

7.5. TOOLS.
There are no special tools required for the assembly of these internals, however, the below
listed tools available in shop can be sued.

a. Measuring tape
b. Level Gauge
c. Suitable size spanner
