CANADA’S WONDERLAND - Associate Appearance Standards Information Form

Your appearance and the manner in which you present yourself are a vital part of your job. It is our policy that while in
prescribed uniform or at work associates must present a clean, neat and well-groomed appearance. Associate must be in
full and complete uniform while in view of guests at all times. This includes walking through the Park while on break, when
walking to your work location at the beginning of your shift, or when leaving for the day.

The following points are important highlights relating to the company’s Appearance Standards. Complete
details are included in the Associate Guidelines, and must be reviewed prior to your first day of work. Should
you have any questions regarding the details you may contact a Human Resources or Department
representative.

Hair  Hair volume should maintain a balanced and uniform look/style from the scalp; or be neatly
maintained as per hairstyle
 Shaved designs in any visible hair (e.g. eyebrows, sideburns, beards etc.) are not permitted.
 If wigs are worn, they must comply completely with all hair guidelines.
 Natural (or traditional) hair colours (e.g. brown, black, blonde, grey, auburn and red) as well as
‘unnatural’ colours (e.g. burgundy, dark plums/purple, dark blue, pink, or shades of light
blue/grey etc.) are welcome. Bright neon colors are not permitted as this will be considered too
extreme.
 Any braiding or twisting of hair must meet all other appearance guidelines.
 Highlighting and graduated colours/ombre are permitted; the colours used can be natural or
‘unnatural’, however to avoid a distracting look, use colours that blend well (e.g. burgundy in
dark brown or black hair). Bright neon colours, thick multi-colored stripes or blocks of different
colours are too extreme and are not permitted.
 Facial hair is limited to the following:
o A full beard no longer than 5.08 cm (2 inches) in length
o A goatee no longer than 1.3 cm (½ inch) in length
o A neatly trimmed moustache that does not extend below the corners of the mouth
 Facial hair must be fully developed, with full skin coverage and no scruff or patches, and be
well maintained/groomed at all times.
 Associates with no beard, goatee, or moustache must be clean shaven.
 Hair accessories used to hold or secure the hair look best when they are complimentary to
either the hair colour or uniform colour.
Accessories  Nails should be kept neat and clean. Nails should be moderate in length or shorter as
appropriate for your job. Designs and various polish colours or adornments are acceptable for
associates as long as they maintain an approachable and welcoming image (i.e. not chipping
or peeling off). Health and safety requirements may prohibit use of nail polish and/or
adornments for some jobs.
 Watches, bracelets, necklaces and rings are permitted; as long they do no not restrict an
associate’s ability to perform their job or pose a safety concern, or are excessive in number.
 Earrings - Moderately sized earrings are allowed in each earlobe, as well as in the upper
cartilage as long they do no not restrict an associate’s ability to perform their job, pose a safety
concern, or are excessive in number (e.g. cover the entire ear).
 Ear Gauges – One gauge in each ear lobe may be worn in place of earrings. Gauges must
include a plug and may not be larger than ½ inch or 12mm
 One small nose stud or close-fitting hoop is permitted on one side of the nostril.
 Visible tattoos/body art that are on the face or neck are permitted as long as they are covered
and/or concealed while at work. All other tattoos/body art are permitted as long as the
tattoos/body art do not display slogans or images that are demeaning, feature profanity or
other messages that do not promote or enhance a safe, inclusive, productive workplace.
Associates may cover tattoos/body art by using makeup, athletic sleeves, or their uniform.
 Visible, intentional body modifications and alterations that create an unnatural or
unprofessional appearance are not permitted. This includes, but is not limited to, dental grills,
tongue splitting, tooth filing, disfiguring skin or bone implants.
 Required headdresses such as the hijab should match hair or uniform colour whenever
possible.
 While on duty, or in view of the guests, all personal electronic equipment must remain in the
OFF position and out of the view. This includes, but is not limited to, cell phones, iPods, and
other portable equipment.
Nametag/Belt  Nametags are an integral part of the uniform and must be visibly worn upright on the chest on
the left side of your uniform or on the opposite side of any logo on shirts, fleece or jackets.
 Belts must be worn and be plain with no embellishments. Colour should match pants or shoes.

Shoes  Shoes must have a flat sole or low heel/wedge that provides appropriate support and traction.
 Shoes must be walking, athletic, oxford or loafer in style.
 Sandals, open toes or sling backs, shoes with platform heels or extra-thick soles and high tops
or boots are not permitted.
 Shoes must be black or dark in color and laces must be properly tied.
 Some departments may require specific footwear (e.g. steel toed, slip resistant) as specified
during the interview.

Shirt  Uniform shirts must always be clean, wrinkle free and in good repair.
 The shirt must fit well – not too big, not too tight.
 The shirt must be tucked in at all times so that the pant waistband and belt are visible.
Pants  Pants must be cotton or poly/cotton blend. Note: Denim, spandex, corduroy are not permitted.
Pant colour will vary by Department (i.e. black, tan, navy).
 Pants must be worn at waistline and may not be oversize or baggy in nature or fit too snugly.
Style of pant should be professional and plain with belt loops and minimal pockets; athletic
pants are not permitted.
How to Complete your TD1Personal Tax Credit Forms

These forms are used to determine the amount of tax to be deducted from an individual's
employment income. There are federal and provincial TD1 forms. This package includes the
Federal TD1 Form and the Provincial TD1ON Form for Ontario residents. Seasonal Associates at
Canada’s Wonderland must fill out BOTH forms every season they are employed at the park.

How to Compete the Tax Forms:

Step 1: Your name and address should already be printed on the top of the form. If they
are not, please complete these sections.

Step 2: Print your Social Insurance Number in the corresponding box at the top of the
form.

Step 3: Review the possible additional claim reasons on lines 2 through 12 on the TD1
form and lines 2 through 11 on the TD1ON form. If the description in any of the lines
applies to you then you must follow the instructions and record the proper claim amount
on the corresponding line. If the description does not apply put a zero on the line.

Step 4: When you have an amount or a zero on all lines add up all the claim amounts
from lines 1 through 12 on the TD1 form and lines 1 through 11 on the TD1ON form. (If
you entered all zeros than your total at the bottom will be the Basic Personal Claim
amount on Line 1)

Step 5: On the second page of the form you will need to read the question under the
Heading: “Total income less than total claim amount”

“Check this box if your total income for the year from all employers and payers will be less
than your total claim amount at the bottom of the first page of this form. Your employer or
payer will not deduct tax from your earnings.”

What does this mean?

• If your estimated income from all your jobs combined in the calendar year will be
MORE than your total at the bottom of page 1 you must pay income tax on the
wages you earn. You will leave the box BLANK.

• If your estimated income from all your jobs combined in the calendar year will be
LESS than your total at the bottom of page 1 you do not have to pay income tax on
the wages you earn. You will CHECK OFF the box.

Note:
If you have more than one employer or payer at the same time and have already
claimed personal tax credit amounts on another TD1 form, you cannot claim them
again. If your total income from all sources will be more than the personal tax credits
claimed on another TD1 form, you must check the box on the back of the TD1 form
under the heading “More than one employer or payer at the same time”, enter "0" on line
13 on the front page and should not complete lines 2 to 12.

If required, additional assistance will be provided on the day of your appointment.
