Use the correct sounds of English
II. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
1. Identify and distinguish between different English sounds.
2. Pronounce English words accurately using the correct sounds.
3. Apply correct pronunciation in verbal communication to enhance English
language skills.
B. Presentation
The teacher will let the students guess the lesson for the day based on the game
conducted.
The teacher will present the objectives of the lesson and the expected
performance to be accomplished by the students.
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
1. Identify and distinguish between different English sounds.
2. Pronounce English words accurately using the correct sounds.
3. Apply correct pronunciation in verbal communication to enhance English
language skills.
C. Assimilation
The teacher will discuss the lesson starting from the English alphabet and its
different sounds through a PowerPoint Presentation.
The teacher will present a short video on the correct production of the English
letters sounds.
English encompasses a total of 19 vowel sounds and 25 consonant sounds. The vowel
sounds consist of 5 short vowels (a, e, i, o, u), 6 long vowels (a, e, i, o, u, oo), and 3 r-
controlled vowel sounds (ar, er, or). The 18 consonant sounds include b, k, d, f, g, h, j, l,
m, n, p, r, s, t, v, w, y, and z. Additionally, there are 7 digraph sounds (ch, sh, th, th, wh,
ng, nk), as well as diphthongs and other special sounds (oi, ow, ey, short oo, aw, zh).
D. Generalization
What new knowledge or skills have you acquired throughout the lesson? How will
you apply what you've learned about using the correct sounds of English in your
everyday conversations or future language learning experiences? Why do you
believe it is crucial to be able to integrate accurate English sounds into various
daily communication situations?
The teacher will process the answers of the students.
E. Application
The teacher will:
Divide the class into two teams and set up a start and finish line.
Place the flashcards facedown at the start line for each team.
Teams take turns sending one member to the start line.
The student flips over a flashcard, reads the word aloud with the correct
sound(s), and races to the finish line.
The tagged teammate repeats the process with a new flashcard.
The relay continues until all the flashcards are used or a set number of rounds is
completed.
The team that finishes first or covers the most flashcards correctly win.
