NAIS SCHOOL GRADING POLICY:

Purpose: The purpose of this grading policy is to ensure that all students are
evaluated consistently and fairly based on their academic performance and mastery
of the subject matter. The grading policy also aims to promote clear communication
of student progress to both students and their parents/guardians.

Grading System: The school will use a numerical grading system on a scale of 0-100,
with letter grades assigned based on the following ranges:

 A: 90-100
 B: 80-89
 C: 70-79
 D: 60-69
 F: 0-59

Grading Criteria: Grades will be based on a combination of factors, which may

include class participation, homework, quizzes, tests, projects, and other assignments.
Each teacher will communicate the School’s grading criteria, which will be
communicated to students at the beginning of the course.

Weighting of Grades: Teachers may choose to weight different assignments or

categories of assignments differently, and will communicate their weighting system
to students at the beginning of the course.

Late Work: Late work may be accepted at the teacher's discretion, but may be subject
to a penalty or reduction in points. The teacher will communicate their policy on late
work to students at the beginning of the course.

Makeup Work: Students who are absent due to illness or other valid reasons may be
allowed to make up missed work. Teachers will communicate their makeup work
policy to students at the beginning of the course.

Grade Reporting: Teachers will report grades regularly, at least once per grading
period, to students and their parents/guardians. Grade reports will include a
breakdown of grades by assignment and category, as well as comments from the
teacher regarding the student's progress.
