Task 2:
1. Is SLA primarily implicit or explicit?
In my opinion, SLA is both implicit and explicit. Based on my experience, when I was a little
child, I was keen on watching cartoon on Disney Channel. Time by time, I learnt some
expressions from the cartoon I watched. However, in terms of grammar, I learn them
consciously.
2. Is there a natural sequence in language acquisition?
I think there is no natural sequence in language acquisition. Each student has different leaning
styles and cognitive ability. Besides, each language has different characteristics, therefore, when
learning L2, the factors that affect student’s learning process are also distinct.
3. Are the factors which determine the effectiveness of language acquisition variable?
It is true that there are different factor which can affect the effectiveness of language
acquisition. First of all, motivation and attitude can affect students’ learning process. It’s obvious
that learners who are eager to learn can achieve more than who are not. Besides, learning
environment can also play an important roles in acquiring language.
4. Does text enhancement facilitate language acquisition?
Yes, it does. Text is considered as a language input. The high quality text can facilitate students’
learning process. With clear instruction, students might be easy to follow and complete their
tasks
