Alokananda Beret

By: Jillian Newhall Chekan

Designed for The Fiber Factor Challenge #3 -- Blank Slate

Materials:
• 1x100g skein of worsted weight yarn. I originally de-
signed this pattern for HiKoo Kenzie yarn, but I have
used many others over the years and been successful.
Something with a bit of halo and drape will be very suc-
cessful.
• US size 7 needles, 16 inch circulars
• US size 8 needles, 16 inch circulars and set of DPNs
• Tapestry needle
• Cable needle (optional)

Brim:
Cast on 90 stitches using long-tail cast on method or another stretchy cast on. Join in the round, being care-
ful not to twist. K2, P1 around for 1.5-2 inches or desired length of brim.
Increase round: K2, M1, P1 around. Any method of M1 will work, so experiment to see what you like. I used
the backwards loop method. Switch to larger needles and begin body.

Body: complete 6 repeats each row

Cut yarn and weave tail through remaining stitches using the tapestry needle. Weave in ends.
To block, soak the hat in warm water until fully saturated. Gently squeeze out excess moisture and lay flat to
dry for beanie or stretch around a dinner plate for beret.
