With New Accommodations, Solo Traveling is Encouraged by Norwegian Cruise Line

1,000 Cabins were Added for the Convenience of Solo Travelers

Oct. 6, 2023 - As travel reaches pre-pandemic levels, more people are traveling alone. In order to
do it safely, Norwegian Cruise Line is accommodating with the addition of close to 1,000
dedicated staterooms for guests sailing solo. There are different options available, yet with the
Solo Balcony cabin, expect to pay less than a traditional double occupancy room, making the
price of the indenture more affordable.
Highlighted Points:
● New Improved Safety: The new Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview and Solo Balcony cabin
cruise line is being introduced, available for sailings departing Jan. 2, 2024 and on. These
rooms were created with the safety of solo travelers in mind. The staterooms opened for
sale on select ships starting this week and will become more widely available “on a
rolling basis.” Since first launching the solo staterooms in 2010 with Norwegian Epic,
they have been quite popular with single travelers. The line’s president, David J. Herrera
quoted, “We are continuously listening to our guests to deliver the experience they want.”
Not only will this addition increase the solo traveling experience but safety as well.
● Pricing: Availability and pricing will vary based on the destination and demand but
guests “can expect to pay less than a traditional double occupancy room.” On a
week-long Alaska cruise departing from Seattle on April 6, 2024, a Solo Balcony cabin
currently starts at $1,799 for one guest, while a Balcony cabin starts at $1,997. The Solo
Balcony cabin is less expensive, therefore, if wanting to take a solo cruise that is the way
to go.
● Wide Variety of Room Options: The luxury line debuted Solo Oceanview staterooms on
four of its small ships in 2022. Describing the reasoning behind the addition, Herrera
stated, “We strive to provide our guests with diverse offerings to create their dream
vacation.” Norwegian is not the only line making investments in solo cabins. Oceania
Cruises, also part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., launched its new ship
Oceania Vista with six dedicated veranda staterooms for guests going it alone in May.
