Magical Murals
BETHALTO, Ill. (Nov. 11, 2023)—Sign Magic Inc. is using their magical skills to design and
create large wall murals. Over the last couple years, the business has noticed the starting interest
in mural work. The artists at Sign Magic have gotten the chance to paint a handful of murals in
area towns such as Alton, Il., Staunton, Il., and Carrollton, Il., to name a few. Sign Magic gets
these unique jobs commissioned by businesses, organizations, or cities. The magic that goes into
a mural is quite fascinating. The process starts with brainstorming, moves onto designs, then
projecting and painting!
Steve Luck, Sign Magic Inc. Owner/President, is the lead graphic designer and brains
behind the business. This year marks the 28th year of Sign Magic Inc. Luck started the business
with a partner in 1995, but took over as the sole owner in 2003. Over the past 28 years the
business has evolved in the products and services they offer. They specialize in three dimensional
signs, banners, business cards, vehicle lettering, full digital prints, commercial signs, yard signs,
logo designs, life-size cutouts, window/door lettering, and murals!
Mural work was first introduced when Luck would go on a long weekend trip, once a
year, to take part in The Walldogs mural projects. The Walldogs travel to a new town every
summer to paint giant wall murals, which in return promotes economic growth! After
experiencing the art of mural work, consecutive years in a row, Luck decided to offer this service
through Sign Magic.
Since offering something new to his clients, Luck states “This type of work has grown to
become my favorite! I love designing something at such a large scale and watching the mural
come to life!” He’s done murals for cities like Staunton, Benld and Bunker Hill, which are
classic “Welcome to (city name)” type of murals. These are classic styles used to decorate the
town and create attractiveness. Luck has also done murals for various businesses like The Dairy
Bar, Bowl Haven, Amazon, and Raging Rivers Waterpark. His mural art has also been displayed
for a local organization, Christmas Wonderland. You can find a Frozen mural, the Madagascar
penguins, and the city of Bethlehem through Rock Springs park in Alton, Il., done by Sign
Magic!
