Installation time
The installation time is approx. 5.0–5.5 hours. This may vary depending on the condition of the car and the
equipment in it.
In general the car must be upgraded to the latest I stage status by flashing before starting the conversion work.
Differing programming times may be necessary depending on the production age of the vehicle and on work
previously performed on the vehicle.
The installation time specified does not include the time spent on programming / coding.
The calculation of the total costs for the programming time must be factored into the calculation of retrofitting costs
(no invoicing via warranty).

Important information
These installation instructions are primarily designed for use within the BMW dealership organisation and by
authorised BMW service companies.
In any event, the target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars with
the appropriate specialist knowledge.
All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and work
instructions, in a rational order, using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current safety regulations.
If you experience installation or function problems, limit troubleshooting to approx. 0.5 hours for
mechanical or 1.0 hour for electrical work.
In order to reduce costs and avoid any additional expense, send a query immediately to the Technical Parts Support
via the Aftersales Assistance Portal (ASAP).
Specify the following information:
- Chassis number,
- Part number of the retrofit kit,
- A precise description of the problem,
- Work steps already carried out.
Do not archive the hard copy of these installation instructions since daily updates are provided via ASAP!

Installation information
All pictures show LHD cars; proceed accordingly on RHD cars.
Additional cables/lines that you install must be secured with cable ties.
Ensure that the cables and/or lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car. The costs incurred as
a result will not be reimbursed by BMW AG.
If the specified PIN chambers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals must be used.
After the installation work, the retrofit must be programmed / coded using ISSS (Integrated Software Service
Station) via the – Conversions – path.

Ordering instructions
The interior roof light cover G is not supplied with the retrofit kit and must be ordered separately for individual colour
variants (for part number and instructions see EPC).

Route wiring harness B under the equipment

1 holder (1) through the bulkhead into the interior
of the car.

Connect the engine compartment lid contact

switch F to the holder on the microfilter lid (1).

Route branch A1 to the connection point for the
inside mirror.

electric chrome mirror.
Disconnect the cables from branch A1.
Insulate the BL/GE, BR and GN/GE cables and tie
them back.
Connect the remaining cables as follows to

35mm Drill a drill hole (2) with an arbor-type cutter to

Deburr the hole and coat the bare surfaces with
55mm

preservative.

8. Concluding work and coding

This retrofit system requires coding

- Connect the battery
- Program/encode the retrofit with ISSS (Integrated Software Service Station) via the – Conversions – path
- Conduct a function test
- Re-assemble the car.
