Q2 Lesson Plan Project

Lesson Goals or Learning Targets (Word these as measurable student outcomes.)

Students will identify what occupation they want to do when they grow up.

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

Students will write and draw a picture on a prewritten sentence frame sheet and turn it in
when completed.

CSTP Rationale (Describe the ways your lesson aligns with the six California Standards for the
Teaching Profession)

CSTP 1 Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning

Walk around tables and help students who visibly need help and lead them in the right
direction.
CSTP 2 Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning
If a student seems to not be able to focus, I will move them to a table nearer the front, so they
have me closer to help them.
CSTP 3 Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning
I will organize and have all the materials ready to go for the lesson so that the students get my
full attention.
CSTP 4 Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students
Have a lesson plan ready to go so I am not left in the blank on what to do next.
CSTP 5 Assessing Students for Learning
I will have them tell me what they wrote and describe their picture to me and what they are
doing in it.
CSTP 6 Developing as a Professional Educator
I will do my best to give everyone a chance and make the environment safe and comfortable
for learning.

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)

Start off getting them their hand sanitizer and wait until everyone is seated in their seats.

Then I will explain to them the expectation and that it must be completed before we switch
groups.

They must trace the sentence frame that is already provided and try to sound out the
occupation they want to do. I will also help them with some of the sounds that they can’t
identify.

I will also see once they are finished if they got some of the sounds correct and write beneath
what they meant so that we are aware.

Once they finish their writing I will instruct them to draw a picture with realistic colors and
features of there chosen occupation.

Once completed I will have the students share among the group what they want to do and
share the picture and what they drew as well.

Instructional Procedures

• Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)

I will use an attention grabber that my mentor has taught them where they go “eyes
are watching, ears are listening, and bodies are calm.” and they will point to their eyes,
ears, and then put hands on table nice and grasped together.

• Instructional Strategies (Click into that link for help describing all instructional methods you will
employ during the lesson. Remember, instructional strategies fall into one or more of the following
broad categories: DIRECT, INDIRECT, EXPERIENTIAL, INTERACTIVE, INDEPENDENT
STUDY)

Direct instruction: I will give directions on what is expected and to be completed.

Independent study: they will be able to work freely and draw as they please without a
certain outline of what to draw.

• Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)

I will engage the students by checking in with them while working and ask them
questions about the occupation such as “ do you know anyone who does this? What
makes you want to do this when you grow up?”

• Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?

I will check that all students are involved and engaged by ensuring that they are
actively working and either writing or drawing,

• Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)

I will end the lesson by giving them an explanation as to what I wanted to do

when I was their age, and then telling them that it's always best to start thinking
earlier on than to be my age and be so unsure.

• Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

I will assess the students by having them present to their peers what they want to do
when they grow up. They will also describe what they included in the drawing they did
for their sentence.
