Visitors’ Policy: Church and Tower

The Church Council of St. Michael's Parish of Cluj-Napoca requires that pilgrims, guests and visitors accept
the Visitors' Policy for entering the Church of St. Michael and visiting the tower. The Visitors' Policy is
clearly posted at the entry point to the church and the tower. It may also be found on the parish web site.

1. Access to the church is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

2. Priority for entry to the tower will be given to registered visitors. A limited number of visitors are allowed
in the tower at one time: on the balcony and on the stairs. Visits to the tower are at specific times. We are
unable to accommodate late arrivals, as we are unable to reschedule appointments for other visitors on that
day.

3. Please take special care of the church furnishings, equipment, objects and the church itself! Anyone who,
intentionally or negligently, causes damage may be required by the Parish Council to pay compensation for
the damage or may be subject to compensation proceedings. The Parish cannot be held liable for damage to
persons or property resulting from the irresponsible behavior of visitors.

4. Clothing should be church-appropriate attire, and men should remove hats or headwear inside the church;
persons with fever, illnesses, or open wounds; persons intoxicated or under the influence of drugs are not
allowed to enter or stay in the church and tower area. Such persons may be refused entry by Parish staff and
removed from the church by security.

5. Visitor group leaders are responsible for adhering to and enforcing the Visitor Policy in the church and
tower area. Visitor group leaders and chaperones must pay special attention to the safety of life, limb and
property of the group they lead.

6. It is forbidden to carry out any activity, to behave in any way or to bring in any equipment (glass, knives,
scissors, other tools for stabbing and cutting, etc.) that could endanger your own or others' physical safety or
cause damage to the building or its furnishings or property.

7. It is forbidden to consume food, soft drinks, alcohol and/or drugs; to litter, set fires, bring in animals,
weapons, any alarming devices, or behave in a manner that is offensive to public order and morals.

8. Use the ways indicated in the church and tower area. It is forbidden to cross or climb over the guardrails,
to enter areas closed to visitors, or to stay in closed areas without permission.

9. The requests and instructions of the staff member on duty must be respected at all times.

10. There is no first aid service in the church. In case of injury, sickness or any other medical complaint,
specialist care can be arranged by contacting the Parish staff.

11. Smoking is strictly forbidden in the whole area of the church, tower and around the gates.

12. Please dispose of rubbish and waste in the designated waste bins located at the entrance.
13. In case of fire, bomb alarm or other emergency, follow the instructions of the staff and security on duty
in the church and the tower.

14. By entering the church and tower, guests express and acknowledge that they accept and are bound by
this Visitor Policy and will abide by its provisions.

15. The church is a sacred place of worship! We welcome all our visitors, but liturgical functions must
always take precedence over tourist visitation, so the Parish reserves the right to modify the time and order
of entry. After the designated closing time, visitors must leave the church and the tower area as soon as
possible.

16. Additional rules for visiting the tower: all visitors must visit the tower at their own risk! Under any and
all circumstances, please follow the written instructions posted and the verbal safety instructions of the
church warden, supervisor or attendant. Any damage caused to a third party as a result of failure to comply
with the instructions or any damage caused to a third party as a result of failure to comply with the
instructions is the responsibility of the person who disregards the instructions. Please make your decision to
visit the tower on the basis of an assessment of your personal physical fitness and health, bearing in mind
that the stairs to the terrace of the tower are steep and long. Minors under the supervision of a guardian or a
person in need of care may only visit the tower if accompanied by an escort.

17. It is strictly forbidden to touch, knock or move the bells and their fasteners! The bells toll loudly every
quarter of an hour, so please be aware!

18. Please do not touch the fasteners, light fittings or electrical wiring. It is recommended to keep a distance
of 4-5 steps behind the person in front. In the event of people going down and up meeting each other, act
with courtesy to each other while keeping safety first.

19. Due to the height of the tower, extreme weather conditions (gale force winds, rain, ice etc.) may occur,
so take care of your clothing and watch out for slippery floors. In case of rain, it is not possible to walk
around the balcony! Check your footwear to ensure that it is accident-free (cleaned of any stuck-on material)
and only wear footwear that allows you to walk safely on stairs for extended periods. Before going onto the
terrace of the tower, make sure that you have secured any objects you are carrying to prevent them from
falling. Use mobile phones, cameras and binoculars only if they are hung around your neck or attached to
your wrist. The Parish cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by the loss or spillage of objects,
and the party causing the damage is liable for any damage caused to third parties. It is forbidden to visit the
tower:

- bending over the railings in a way that endangers personal safety;

- standing on the edge of the handrail;

- throwing or spilling anything from the terrace of the tower;

- smoking or any other activity that could cause a fire!

20. Our visitors have the right to make comments, either orally or in writing, about the way the service is
provided, the quality of the service or the behavior of the service provider. The management of the Parish is
obliged to investigate the complaint, comment or suggestion in accordance with the applicable rules and to
take action on the basis of the complaint, comment or suggestion. They must reply in writing to the
complaint with the address.

21. Please note that the Parish uses an electronic surveillance system throughout the church and the tower
for the protection of persons and property, which records images and sound.
