1.
From “HpD-KER-eV-Spectrum.dat”, we have the data of KER in eV vs. count. So, we can find the corresponding
momentum of these KER values as

p= √ 2 mKER .
Note that, we should convert the unit of KER from eV to a.u., so

p=
√ 2 mKER ( eV )
27.211
,

which gives the values of momentum in a.u. Then we plot the momentum vs. count plot as following.

2000

1500
Count

1000

500

0
0 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20
P_H+,D (a.u.)

2.
From “HpD-KER-eV.dat”, we also use the same equation as above to calculate the momentum value for each
event. Then we perform Frequency Counts in Origin (bin starts at 0, bin ends at 20, bin size is −0.5 ). This
gives

2000

1500
Count

1000

500

0
0 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20
P_H+,D (a.u,)

These spectra have the same pattern. But, in my opinion, the second method of plotting the momentum
spectrum is better as it does not overcount the events in each range of momentum.
