Lizabeth Gasper 12- Persephone CREATIVE NON-FICTION

PERSONAL NARRATIVE
“Happiness beyond difficulties”

In our life there are many changes, we will experience many trials while we
remain in the world. When we grow up, we can understand a lot of things that we
couldn't understand when we were young. I'm Lizabeth Gasper, and this is my life
experience.

At a young age, my family grew up in poverty. My father is a farmer and my

mother is a housewife. We have seven siblings and I am the sixth, but only four of
us have gone to school. Due to poverty, my three brothers were unable to finish
school, because instead of studying, they just helped my father in working. But
despite the hardships, I'm still proud that my parents raised us in legal jobs. I am
also proud that my parents raised us correctly and above all with the fear of God. I
was just a kid so I wanted nothing more than to play with my friends and have my
own toys. Sometimes I even cry to my mother when no one had prepared for my
birthday. I was also always beaten because I disobeyed my mother. But now that
I'm older I understand a lot about life. You don't need material things to be happy.
You don't even need those preparation for your birthday, just happy and good
health is enough. At the age of 12, I was away from my parents because I lived with
my aunt and she supported my education while I’m helping in her business. It was
very difficult to be away from my family, but in order to reduce my parent’s
expenses, I chose to away from my parents. As I grew up, I realized that it is not
easy to live when you grow up in poverty. So I study hard to make up for the
hardships of my parents.

Despite the difficulties experienced, I still remain a happy person. I also

understand that no matter how hard life is, stay positive and don't lose hope,
because as long as there is life there is hope.
