Rules for Placements 2023-24

1.0 Internship:

There is no limit for appearing to internship interviews, if the company offers an internship
without Pre-Placement Offer (PPO).

2.0 Internship + Pre Placement Offer (PPO) or Full Time Employment (FTE):

Companies are categorized into Software/IT and Core. Software/IT companies are the
companies which offer job profiles based on coding and software technologies. Core companies
are the companies which offer job profiles based on Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, Civil,
Chemical, Metallurgical engineering roles.

2.1 Software/IT Companies Categorization:

● CTC ≤ 6 LPA - Non Dream


● 6 < CTC ≤ 12 - Dream
● CTC > 12 - Super Dream

❖ 2.1.1 A student who gets a dream company offer is not eligible to apply for another
dream company, irrespective of acceptance of the offer.
❖ 2.1.2 A student who gets a super dream company offer is eligible for applying to
another super dream company, if the CTC difference is more than 3.5 LPA.
❖ 2.1.3 A student is eligible to apply for any one non-dream company, irrespective of other
offers.
❖ 2.1.4 A student who gets an offer can apply to other company after completing 60% of
placements in their respective Departments.

2.2 Core Companies Categorization:

● CTC < 5 LPA Non Dream


● 5 ≤ CTC ≤ 10 LPA Dream
● CTC >10 LPA Super Dream
❖ 2.2.1 A student is eligible for only one core offer until 60% placements completed in
their department.
❖ 2.2.2 A student can apply to other company after completing 60% placements in their
departments based on following clauses:
➢ A student who gets a non-dream company offer, is eligible for applying to
another non-dream company, only if the CTC difference is more than 1.5 LPA.
➢ A student who gets a dream company offer, is eligible for applying to another
dream company, if the CTC difference is more than 3.0 LPA.

3.0 Shifting from Core to IT

A student, who gets core offer, can apply for IT company based on the following guidelines
➢ After completing 60% of placements in their respective Departments
➢ Shifting from IT to IT are applicable as per section 2.1
➢ Student is not allowed to apply for any core company, even after 60% completion
of placements in their departments, if he/she gets an IT company offer (Section
4.0 is not Applicable for these candidates)

4.0 Shifting from IT to Core

❖ A student gets an IT offer, can also apply to a core company after completing 60% of
placements in their respective Departments.

5.0 General Rules

❖ Sales/ management offer will be treated as core offer, for further placements section 2.2
is applicable.
❖ The Training and Placement office has final authority on the regulations in case a Job
Profile does not fall into one of the aforementioned categories.
❖ High profile companies could be subjected to specific rules and regulations. The Training
and Placement Officer (TPO) has final authority.

❖ TPO will take appropriate decisions, in case of any discrepancies. Students should bind to
that.
❖ Students should not contact the HR personnel of the companies personally. Contact TPO,
if you need any communication with any particular person or company. Strict action
would be taken against any student found contacting the HR without the knowledge of
TPO.
❖ Students MUST wear appropriate formal dress, whenever they participate in placement
drives
