3: Allah's relationship with his Messengers


Hadith References

1. Guidance through Prophets: Narrated by Abu Huraira: Allah has sent down the

disease and the cure, and He has appointed a cure for every disease, so treat

yourselves medically, but use nothing unlawful. (Sahih al-Bukhari)

2. Special Status of Prophets: Narrated by Abu Huraira: The Prophet (peace be upon

him) said, "I have been given the keys of eloquent speech and given victory with awe

(cast into the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping last night, the keys of the

treasures of the earth were brought to me till they were put in my hand." (Sahih

al-Bukhari)

3. Guidance through Prophets: Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr: Allah's Messenger

(peace be upon him) said, "My Ummah will not agree upon an error; so if my

community refrains from saying anything incorrect, Allah will confer upon them what

they have a right to." (Jami` at-Tirmidhi)

4. Intercession of Prophets: Narrated by Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (peace be

upon him) said, "When any human being is born, Satan touches him at both sides of

the body with his two fingers, except Jesus, the son of Mary, whom Satan tried to

touch but failed, for he touched the placenta-cover instead." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

5. Intercession of the Prophet (peace be upon him): Narrated by Abu Huraira: Allah's

Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "For every Prophet there is one invocation

which is definitely fulfilled by Allah, and I wish, if Allah will, to keep my that (special)

invocation as to be the intercession for my followers on the Day of Resurrection."

6. Duties of Prophets: Narrated by Abu Huraira: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said,

"Allah has sent down both the disease and the cure, and He has appointed a cure for

every disease, so treat yourselves medically but use nothing unlawful." (Sahih

al-Bukhari)

7. Miracles of Prophets: Narrated by Abu Huraira: The Prophet (peace be upon him)

said, "There was no prophet among the prophets but was given miracles because of

which people had security or had belief, but what I was given was the Divine

Inspiration which Allah revealed to me. So I hope that my followers will be more than

those of any other prophet on the Day of Resurrection." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

8. Divine Assistance to the Prophet (peace be upon him): Narrated by Abu Huraira:

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "O Allah! Save Aiyyash bin Abi Rabia

(from the unjust treatment of the infidels)." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

9. Prophets as Brothers: Narrated by Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (peace be upon

him) said, "My example and the example of the prophets before me is like that of a

person who built a house nicely and beautifully, except for a place of one brick in a

corner. The people go about it and wonder at its beauty, but say: 'Would that this

brick be put in its place!' So I am that brick, and I am the last of the prophets." (Sahih

al-Bukhari)

10. Intercession for the Oppressed: Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr: The Prophet (peace

be upon him) said, "Allah will cover seven people with His shade, on the Day when

there will be no shade but His: a just ruler, a youth who has grown up in the worship

of Allah, a man whose heart is attached to the mosques, two persons who love each

other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only, a man who

refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for illicit intercourse with her and

says: 'I am afraid of Allah,' a man who gives charitable gifts so secretly that his left

hand does not know what his right hand has given, and a person who remembers
Allah in solitude and his eyes well up." (Sahih al-Bukhari)
