I Process overview – PPA Planning

To ensure an efficient supply of samples to Daimler AG, you first have to

"folder.

H Before doing so, check whether you really do


want to create a "new" PPA Planning. You
might find that you can submit a PPA
Planning more quickly and easily simply by
copying an existing PPA Planning.

Reject Create PPAR H You can filter the selection of supplier plants
by entering details. To do so, enter search
criteria. The wildcards "*" and "?" can be
used here. The "*" stands for any number of
characters, while the "?" stands for a single
character.

1 The sampling form that you select depends on


your supplier relationship with Daimler AG.

Select "ZB-/LU-/Component sampling" if


you plan to supply the parts to be sampled
directly to Daimler AG (as per the delivery
1 agreement) during series production.

Sampling type Explanation H SQMS makes a distinction between three types


of sampling (see left).
All the relevant properties of the product and production process,
Technical sampling If you only sample colorless parts and not

1 Choose the submission level.

2 In no more than 80 characters, describe which


modifications were the reason for sampling
(e.g. changed dimensions, new material etc.). If
a new part is being sampled for the first time,
enter "New part". If you do not have enough
space, you can enter additional comments in
the "Remarks" field. The "Remarks" field also
1 contains comments from Daimler AG.

3 Select „Delivery date“ (= planned date of


submission of the PPAR and delivery of the
2 sample parts).

E The submission level defines which


3 attachments have to be included with the
PPAR. It is based on the VDA requirements and
the MBST. Unless otherwise agreed between
the supplier and area responsible for series
approval, submission level 2 applies (source:

1 Please select the plant(-s) you would like to


sample to.
To start the search, click the icon

2 You can select one or more plants you are


delivering parts. If you select more than one
plant you have to clarify the lead plant with
your quality-contact person.
After selection click on „ Apply“.

3 Save the PPA Planning.


When you save your entries for the first time,
1 the „Requirements" tab is activated. The status
changes from "Draft" to "Created" and the
system assigns a PP-number.
You can then add parts to the PPA Planning.

1 To add parts to the PPA Planning, click "Add".


H A pop-up window appears. If it does not
appear, deactivate the pop-up blocker in your
browser, firewall, OS etc.

2 You can also enter optional search criteria


(e.g. the part number).
To start the search, click the icon.

E You can use the wildcards "*" and "?" when


entering your search criteria.Add an "*" to the
end of an incomplete string.
If the search leads to more than 100 results,
refine your search by entering additional
search criteria.

1 If you are sampling a single part, select the


relevant part number from the search results. If
you are sampling a parts bundle, select all the
part numbers belonging to the bundle.

2 To add selected parts to your PPA Planning,


please click on „Apply“
1 If the requirements regarding a particular part
can be applied to other parts, the part can be
defined as a reference part in the sampling

coordination discussion and combined with the
other parts to create a parts bundle. If you
have any questions, contact your QM contact
at Daimler AG.
H Note:
When carrying out technical sampling for color
parts, you must always sample all the color
variants for a part.
Once you have added parts, you can no longer
change the sampling form, type or reason.

If the warning icon will appear you can see the
H reason through the tooltip, for example:

Introduction Q- and F-Levels


You must enter information about the part change status for all The following rules apply regarding the selection of Q- and F-levels:

1 When adding a parts bundle to a PPA Planning,


please select the reference part.

2 For each part listed, enter the Q-level and the


2 H F-level for color parts as well as the E-level for
other parts and the associated IMDS numbers.

3 To enter additional information about a part,

 Part revision level is not declared as ready for sampling.
 This part number has no {0}-release. Please contact your QM contact person.
 Directed part sampling for this part number has not been completed yet.
 First a PSTO must be selected.
 Part family already contains this part number.
 Software sampling for this part number has not been completed yet.
 A PPAR based on "{0}" reasons is invalid. The part number has not been approved in any production plant.
 The sampling due to "additional production plant" reasons is invalid. This production plant has already started the production after having approved the part.
 The part number is already being used in the sampling process {0}. Unless this sampling process has not been declared capable for sampling yet the part number
cannot be used within a new sampling process.

 The highest part revision level of the part number has not yet been declared ready for sampling in the current production plant.
 Sampling reason "production relocation" is invalid. Part number has not yet been released for the former production plant.
 The highest part revision level has not yet been declared ready for sampling in the former production plant.
 The sampling due to "production relocation" reasons is invalid. The manufacturing of the part has been relocated already within another PPAR.
 The PPAR due to "new part" reasons is invalid. Part number has already been approved in at least one other production plant.

1 Enter your own detail number (optional). You


can use this to search for the PPA Planning.
You can also enter additional data, such as the
designation, blueprint number and date.

2 For body-in-white parts and E/E scopes, you
must enter additional information about the
manufacture and software/hardware version.
For E/E scopes, enter the same information as
you did for software and technical sampling.

3 Click "Apply" in the action bar

H If you want to add information about another
part in your parts bundle, you can call up the
next data record by selecting "Apply & Next".
2 Once you have clicked "Apply", you
automatically return to the main screen.
When you click "SPL quality", the system
displays the quality history for this part.
Software is only assigned a Q-status. A new
part number is assigned if the software is
3 H changed. This appears in the header, where
applicable. If not, enter the previous part
number in the "Remarks" field on the PPA
Planning.

1 If you want to changeor delete one or more


parts from your parts list, first select the
relevant part(-s) in the PPA Planning.

2 To change information about the part(-s), click


"Edit" (select reference part, IMDS number, or
Q-/F-level).

3 To remove the selected part(-s) from the view,


click "Remove".

To make sure that all the requirements are


4 available click on „Check“. Incomplete part
numbers will be marked red. The reason will be
indicated by a tooltip.

PPA Planning.

process has been saved. After saving, the

1 To start submission click on „Submit“ in the


screen „Sampling >> PPA Planning“. This
function is only available if you have been
assigned "specialist" or "approver" roles.
2 For submission please select the relevant
plant/client combination and QM employee.

Both attributes can occur in different combinations (e.g. 0500 Sindelfingen Purchased Parts and 0680 Hamburg / Purchased Parts, etc.).

A plant is denoted by a plant number and plant location (e.g. "0500 The client is an organizational unit of Daimler AG, which is independent of the

1 In the action bar for a PPA Planning that you


have opened, click "Copy". This allows you to
create a new PPA Planning based on data of the
original PPA Planning.
In the pop-up window that appears, you can
select which information is to be copied.

2 Select the sampling reason. The sampling


reasons “New part”, “additional production
plant” and “Production suspended more then
12 months” are not available.
For PPA Plannings with directed parts:
Directed parts can also be copied, but only if
they have the same Q-status. You can change
the Q-status of the directed parts manually.

you.
