the vertex of the graph of y = f ( x) . (2 marks)
(c) Let A and B vertices of the graph of y = f ( x) and y = m 2 − f ( x) respectively in the
same rectangular system. Denote the origin by O. Anna claims that AB ⊥ OB. Is her
claim correct? Explain your answer. (2 marks)

3. OAB is an acute-angled isosceles triangle with AO = AB. Denote the circumcenter


and the in-center of OAB by P and Q respectively.

(b) A rectangular coordinate system is introduced such that the coordinates of O and B are
(0, 0) and ( −4, − 6) respectively while the y-coordinate of A is 3. Let C be the circle
passing through O, A and B.

4. The equation of the straight line L1 is 3 x + 4 y = 0 .


(a) Let L2 be the striaght line passing through point A( −7, 3) and perpendicular to L1 .
(i) Find the equation of L2 .
(ii) Suppose that G is a point lying on L2 different from A. Denote the y coordinate of
G by k, where k  3 . Let C be the circle passing through A with center G. Prove
that the equation of C is 2 x 2 + 2 y 2 − (3k − 37) x − 4ky − 9k + 143 = 0 . (6 marks)
(b) The coordinates of the point B are (1, − 1) . Using (a)(ii), or otherwise, find the radius
of the circle which passes through A and B with center G. (3 marks)
