I. Modified TRUE or FALSE

Direction: Write T if the underlined word/s is correct and if not, write F and the correct
answer.
1. The kinetic molecular theory explains the properties of gases by assuming that gas
particles act dependently of each other.
2. Gases are not compressible and they diffuse through one another easily.
3. The particles of liquid are close together because of strong attractive forces between
them.
4. The particles in a liquid, can move only at short distances.
5. Liquid compress only very slightly, because they have lower densities than gases.
6. In solid, the attractive forces between particles are stronger than those in liquid and
gas.
7. Particles in solid are free to move around.
8. The movement of particles in solid is limited to vibrations while they remain in their
fixed positions.
9. Solid compress even less that liquids and hardly diffuse.
10. Due to the very strong attractive forces between particles of gas, the particles are
free to move at random.
II. Explanation
Direction: Explain why each of the following occurs: (3 points each)
1. A freely falling drop of water is spherical in shape
2. Your arm feels cool when alcohol evaporates from your skin.
